Over half of Americans — 56% — say they plan to host guests for Thanksgiving this year. With costs rising 19% from last year, consumers are<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s/24/11/41944635/inflation-on-track-but-fed-may-go-slowly-on-interest-rate-cuts-experts-say"> feeling the pinch. </a>
What To Know: The cost of hosting Thanksgiving dinner in 2024 is up 19% from last year with an average of $431 spent on food, drink and decor for the event, according to <a href="https://www.lendingtree.com/credit-cards/study/thanksgiving-cost-report/">a survey</a> from LendingTree, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TREE#NASDAQ">TREE</a>). 
"Whenever you start spending more, there's always going to be more risk. That's especially true when you're spending almost 20% more than last year," said Matt Schulz, LendingTree chief credit analyst.&nbsp;
"Most people's budgets are tight, leaving little financial wiggle room from month to month, so a 20% increase can be a big deal," Schulz added.&nbsp;

Survey respondents said they expect to spend an average of $265 on food and drinks and $166 on decor for an average of 11 guests at their table for the holiday this year. Most hosts — 60% — expect their guests to pitch in with either money or an item to offset expenses with 25% saying they may reconsider sending an invitation next year to a guest that arrives empty-handed. 
More than a third — 36% — of potential hosts say the amount they will spend on Thanksgiving will be a financial strain with 34% of potential hosts planning to use credit cards for Thanksgiving costs. Strikingly, 14% of hosts already regret their decision to do so. 
Sales and Promos: According to the survey, 30% of potential hosts will shop around, while 22% will use coupons and 33% will do both to help to offset costs. Retailers are trying to ease the financial strain by offering special Thanksgiving promotions and sales events.&nbsp;
Walmart, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WMT#NYSE">WMT</a>) is promoting its Inflation-Free Thanksgiving Meal for 2024, which the company says allows customers to prepare the holiday meal for under $7 per person. The total cost for the meal to serve eight people is just over $53 and includes turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and dessert. 
Albertsons Companies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ACI#NYSE">ACI</a>) is offering a Thanksgiving promotion for a free 16- to 20-pound turkey when customers spend $150 or more on groceries in a single transaction. Target Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TGT#NYSE">TGT</a>) has brought back its Thanksgiving meal deal, priced at $20, for four people. In addition to the meal, Target is offering frozen turkeys at 79 cents per pound, a 20% reduction from last year. 
"It's such old and cliched advice, but it's true," Schulz says. "Taking the time to comparison shop can save you significant money at the holidays or any other time of year."

Thanksgiving Dinner Gobbles Up 19% More Cash This Year, Many Holiday Hosts 'Already Regret Their Decision'

Schneider National, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNDR#NYSE">SNDR</a>) disclosed that it has agreed to acquire Cowan Systems, LLC and its affiliates for approximately $390 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b42167845/schneiders-dedicated-momentum-continues-to-build-with-latest-acquisition-of-cowan-systems-llc" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">million in cash, subject to adjustments</a>.
The deal also includes a separate purchase of related real estate assets for $31 million.
Cowan Systems is primarily a dedicated contract carrier with a portfolio of complementary services including brokerage, drayage and warehousing. The company operates approximately 1,800 trucks and 7,500 trailers across more than forty locations throughout the Eastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S.
Including Cowan Systems, Schneider will operate over 8,400 Dedicated tractors, approximately&nbsp;70%&nbsp;of Schneider&#8217;s Truckload fleet.
The acquisition is expected to be earnings accretive for Schneider within the first year, excluding anticipated synergies.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth-quarter 2024, pending customary conditions, and will be financed through existing cash and a new $400 million delayed draw term credit facility.
Post-acquisition, Cowan Systems&#8217; financials will be integrated into Schneider&#8217;s Truckload and Logistics segments.
This deal follows previous acquisitions of Midwest Logistics Systems and M&amp;M Transport Services, reinforcing Schneider&#8217;s growth in Dedicated contract carriage.
&#8220;This acquisition aligns with Schneider&#8217;s long-term vision to have customer-centric Dedicated solutions as the cornerstone of its Truckload segment. By complementing our organic Dedicated growth success with transactions like this, we are broadening our presence to provide greater value to our customers and stakeholders,&#8221; said Schneider President and CEO Mark Rourke. 
As of September 30, 2024,&nbsp;the company had cash and<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b41774105/schneider-national-inc-announces-third-quarter-2024-results" rel="noreferrer noopener"> cash equivalents of $179.0 million</a>.

Asset manager WisdomTree overseeing $113 billion in assets, has filed to establish a trust entity in Delaware as a preliminary step toward launching an XRP (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/xrp/usd">XRP</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/10/41142958/ripple-etf-could-it-happen-bitwises-filing-faces-uncertain-path-amid-regulatory-concerns">exchange-traded fund (ETF).</a>
What Happened: If successful, the ETF would track the price of XRP, the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, and join a growing list of applications for crypto ETFs, which are reshaping institutional access to digital assets.
The filing follows similar moves by Bitwise and Canary Capital, who are also seeking approval for XRP ETFs. 
WisdomTree's proposed XRP ETF is part of a wave of filings from investment firms aiming to provide U.S. investors with easier access to cryptocurrency markets. 
Last week, Bitwise submitted an <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42139601/solana-hits-264-record-high-as-etf-filings-regulatory-optimism-drive-market-momentum">S-1 registration statement</a> for a Solana ETF, signaling a shift toward diversified crypto ETF products.
However, XRP&#8217;s journey to becoming an ETF-backed asset faces significant regulatory hurdles, given Ripple's ongoing legal battles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Ripple Labs, the issuer of XRP, has been embroiled in a legal dispute with the SEC, which accuses the company of selling XRP as an unregistered security. 
Although Ripple secured a partial victory in 2023, ruling that retail XRP sales did not violate securities laws, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42131449/with-gary-gensler-preparing-to-quit-in-2025-secs-crypto-cases-likely-to-quietly-go-away-amid-trumps-pro-bitcoin-stance-says-pantera-capitals-katrina-paglia">the SEC</a> has appealed.
This regulatory uncertainty complicates the path to ETF approval for XRP.

Why It Matters: Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple&#8217;s CEO, remains optimistic about the inevitability of an XRP <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/10/41520740/ripple-ceo-expects-xrp-etf-as-institutional-demand-for-crypto-grows">ETF despite these challenges.</a>
"Since funds holding Bitcoin were first approved in January, $17 billion has flowed into the fastest-growing ETF in history," Garlinghouse said, emphasizing the growing appetite for crypto ETFs among institutional investors.
WisdomTree's filing follows a growing trend highlighted by 21Shares' recent application for a spot XRP ETF, the 21Shares Core XRP Trust, to be <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/41693909/xrp-etf-coming-soon-21shares-files-for-one-despite-ripples-legal-battles">listed on the Cboe BZX Exchange.</a> 
21Shares' filing comes amid the SEC's legal scrutiny of Ripple, with accusations that Ripple raised $1.3 billion through unregistered XRP sales. 
The demand for crypto ETFs comes as the market anticipates clearer regulations and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42098407/donald-trump-reportedly-eyeing-the-first-crypto-focused-role-in-the-white-house">broader adoption of digital assets.</a>
Industry experts, like Nate Geraci, President of the ETF Store, described Bitwise&#8217;s move to file for an XRP ETF as "strategic," despite legal challenges.

Indonesia&#8217;s Industry Minister, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, stated that Apple&#8217;s proposal needs to align with fairness principles, particularly when compared to the company&#8217;s more significant investments in Vietnam and Thailand, the Bangkok Post <a href="https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/investment/2908486/indonesia-says-apples-100m-investment-proposal-inadequate" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reports</a>.

Google Pixel phones, manufactured by Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>), are also barred from sales in Indonesia due to similar non-compliance with local component requirements.
Companies typically partner with local suppliers or source parts domestically to meet these rules. Apple, however, still needs manufacturing facilities in Indonesia. Since 2018, it has relied on application-developer academies to partially fulfill local content mandates for older iPhone models.
Minister Agus disclosed that Apple still has an outstanding $100 million investment commitment that was originally set to be fulfilled by 2023. The Indonesian government is pushing for additional investments to extend through 2026. The ministry plans to invite Apple representatives to Indonesia for negotiations to discuss the situation further.
Agus emphasized that Apple must align its investments with the country&#8217;s expectations, noting that similar efforts in neighboring countries make Indonesia&#8217;s demands reasonable.
The push to increase local content in electronics aligns with Indonesia&#8217;s broader strategy to bolster its domestic manufacturing ecosystem and attract equitable foreign investment.
Initially, Apple <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42071334/apples-100-million-gamble-tech-giant-moves-to-lift-indonesias-iphone-ban" rel="noreferrer noopener">proposed a $10 million</a> investment to address the shortfall, but Indonesia&#8217;s Ministry of Industry rejected the offer, maintaining the sales ban.
Apple&#8217;s earlier $10 million plan targeted accessory and component manufacturing but failed to satisfy Indonesia&#8217;s regulatory standards.
While Apple has invested $95 million in Indonesia via developer academies, it still falls $5 million short of the 1.7 trillion rupiah ($109.6 million) target.
In October, Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring rated Apple as Overweight with a $273 price target, citing steady <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41350919/apple-analyst-predicts-a-september-quarter-revenue-beat-allays-fears-over-shorter-i" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone 16 lead times</a>.
Woodring noted that iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max lead times extended globally, reflecting better supply stability than previous cycles.
Apple&#8217;s proactive supply-chain measures helped avoid shortages, balancing iPhone Pro/Pro Max demand and supply earlier than before.
Morgan Stanley forecasts 225 million iPhone shipments in 2024, with a potential 3% revenue upside from more robust September-quarter sales.

Apple $100 Million Proposal Rejected As Indonesia Maintains iPhone Ban

Agilent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/A#NYSE">A</a>) will release earnings results for the fourth quarter, after the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/A/news">closing bell on Monday, Nov. 25.</a>
Analysts expect Agilent to report quarterly earnings at $1.41 per share. That's up from $1.38 per share a year ago.
