Commercial Metals Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMC#NYSE">CMC</a>) will release earnings results for the first quarter before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/CMC/earnings">opening bell on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.</a>
Analysts expect the Irving, Texas-based company to report quarterly earnings at 82 cents per share, down from $1.63 per share in the year-ago period. Commercial Metals is expected to report quarterly revenue of $1.88 billion, compared to $2 billion a year ago, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
On Dec. 12, UBS analyst Curt Woodworth downgraded Commercial Metals from Buy to Sell and lowered the price target from $62 to $56.
With the recent buzz around Commercial Metals, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends too. As of now, Commercial Metals offers an annual dividend yield of 1.43%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of 18 cents per share (72 cents a year).

How that works: The dividend yield is computed by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock&#8217;s current price.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently priced at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield drops to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield rises to 5% ($2/$40).
Similarly, changes in the dividend payment can impact the yield. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will also increase, provided the stock price stays the same. Conversely, if the dividend payment decreases, so will the yield.

What Happened: A recent study published in the journal Environmental Science &amp; Technology Letters has discovered that smart watch bands may contain harmful substances. These bands, often made from synthetic rubber known as fluoroelastomers, can include perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA), a type of &#8220;forever chemical,&#8221; Salon <a href="https://www.salon.com/2024/12/24/forever-chemicals-could-be-entering-your-body-from-smart-watch-bands-study-finds/">reported</a> on Thursday,
PFHxA is part of a group of industrial compounds called&nbsp;per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS),&nbsp;which are resistant to degradation. These chemicals have been associated with serious health issues, including cancer and infertility. Despite the risks, PFAS are commonly found in various consumer products such as non-stick cookware and water-resistant fabrics.

TScan Therapeutics, Inc. Gavin MacBeath, Ph.D., CEO of TScan Therapeutics, expressed appreciation for Lynx1&#8217;s continued support, highlighting the investment as a testament to their commitment to TScan&#8217;s mission of delivering life-changing TCR-T cell therapies for cancer patients.
Jason A. Amello, CFO of TScan, added that the additional $30 million in gross proceeds will extend the company&#8217;s cash runway, now expected to fund operations into the first quarter of 2027, up from the previous expectation of the fourth quarter of 2026.
