Aurora reported its second quarter financial results, showing revenue of CA$81.1 million ($58.3 million), up from CA$63.1 million in the same <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/11/41774692/aurora-cannabis-reports-strong-q2-growth-driven-by-international-medical-marijuana-sales">period last year.</a>
The company attributed the 29% increase from the prior period to 41% growth in its global medical cannabis business and 21% growth in its plant propagation business, slightly offset by lower quarterly revenue in its consumer cannabis business.

A game show from popular YouTuber MrBeast has a first-look trailer and a premiere date that could put Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) in direct competition with Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>) as two of the most anticipated shows will release a week apart on <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/streaming">competing streaming platforms.</a>
What Happened: With 332 million subscribers on YouTube, MrBeast (aka Jimmy Donaldson) is the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/24/07/39720279/mrbeast-celebrates-youtube-record-with-new-video-featuring-50-content-creators-competing-fo">most followed person</a> on the Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>)(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) owned video platform.
Viewers frequently flock to the content creator's challenge videos, especially those comparing what $1 can buy versus large sums of money. A recent example, "$1 vs $50,000 Experiences," has garnered 111 million views in just three weeks.
Next month, fans of MrBeast will likely be tuning into his next venture, but they won't be using YouTube.
MrBeast has a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/24/03/37809533/mrbeast-confirms-beast-games-on-amazon-prime-video-with-1-000-contestants-5m-prize-its-gonn">new game show</a>, Beast Games, which will be available exclusively on Prime Video, Amazon&#8217;s streaming platform.
The new game show premieres on Dec. 19 and will have 10 episodes. In each episode, 1,000 players will compete in a winner-take-all competition across multiple challenges for a $5 million prize, as <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/mrbeast-beast-games-premiere-date-prime-video-trailer-1236222911/">reported </a>by Variety.
"I spent over a year creating this 10 episode competition series, breaking 40 world records, building the craziest sets in entertainment history," MrBeast <a href="https://x.com/MrBeast/status/1861121958122770860">tweeted</a>. "I poured everything I have into this show."
Amazon previously called "Beast Games" the "world's largest live gameshow" with the "biggest single prize in the history of television and streaming."

Why It's Important: The Dec. 19 release date will see the first two episodes of "Beast Games" hit Prime Video, with the other episodes to follow on a weekly basis.
This means that "Beast Games" hits streaming platforms one week before Netflix releases the highly anticipated second season of the smash hit "Squid Game," which<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41123711/netflix-stock-could-get-boost-from-nfl-games-squid-game-season-2-analyst-says-conte"> premieres on Dec. 26.</a>
While "Beast Games" is not a direct replica of "Squid Game," Variety noted some similarities to the games and outfits featured in the Netflix show. MrBeast is, of course, not new to paying tribute to "Squid Game" as he previously created "Squid Game in Real Life," a real-life recreation of the challenges from the game, minus the deaths, with the winner getting $456,000.
MrBeast <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/24/01/36743469/mrbeast-could-be-bringing-reality-competitions-to-amazon-prime-video-why-this-is-a-miss-for">previously said</a> that other streaming platforms were in talks for the show, but ultimately he went with Amazon.
"Amazon will give us the most creative control. Other platforms didn't. There's a reason we went with Amazon."
While he wouldn't name other companies, Netflix may have been in the running. MrBeast has expressed some hostility towards Netflix for not being involved with the streaming company's reality show version of "Squid Game" called "Squid Game: The Challenge."
&#8220;I&#8217;m not involved. Kind of funny because I learned so much from my filming of this and I probably could have helped them immensely (and would have done it for free haha),&#8221; MrBeast previously said of Netflix&#8217;s reality show.
MrBeast said he watched episodes of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/23/11/35991961/squid-game-reality-show-dominates-week-heres-how-many-people-watched-how-it-helped-bring-or" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Netflix&#8217;s reality competition</a> based on &#8220;Squid Game&#8221; but did not finish the series. The content creator said the reality competition did a good job building up characters, but also had moments when nothing progressed. Netflix's reality competition had a cash prize of $4.56 million, a record MrBeast is set to break.
The &#8220;Squid Game&#8221; video is currently MrBeast&#8217;s most-watched on YouTube, with 671 million views.
The new "Beast Games" show comes with pending lawsuits from contestants against MrBeast, his production company and Amazon. The lawsuit claims that medical care, food and sleep were not provided for the contestants or minimum wages. Alleged sexual harassment and dangerous conditions are also listed as part of the lawsuits.
MrBeast said the claims from the lawsuit have been "blown out of proportion" in a post on X. The content creator said there is behind the scenes footage that will show the conditions, but it can't be released before the show airs due to spoilers.
"Beast Games" is part of Amazon's increased focus on game shows, with "Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?" featuring host Travis Kelce premiering in October and the upcoming "Pop Culture Jeopardy!" with host Colin Jost premiering on Dec. 4.
AMZN Price Action: Amazon stock is up 2.6% to $206.85 on Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $142.81 to $215.90. Amazon stock is up 37.6% year-to-date in 2024.

"Visitors share their thoughts and questions in a confessional with a heavenly hologram, where words are only meant for four ears — but without confession. An artificial intelligence that responds aesthetically as Jesus may create a sacred moment," the church's <a href="https://www.kathluzern.ch/mein-engagement/deus-in-machina">website </a>says.

Why It's Important: The church encourages visitors to "share their thoughts and questions" with their version of AI Jesus, but the process shouldn't be construed as official confession.
"Deus in machina encourages us to think critically about the limits of technology in the context of religion," the church said.
German media outlet Deutsche Well <a href="https://www.dw.com/en/switzerlands-ai-jesus-answers-questions-of-faith/video-70737962">said </a>two-thirds of participants they interviewed were impressed with the results of AI Jesus.
While AI Jesus is only a test it comes as artificial intelligence use cases continue to advance and could disrupt multiple sectors globally.

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/10/41341588/donald-trumps-world-liberty-financial-token-sales-hit-220m-in-first-hour-website-faces-mul">World Liberty Financial</a>, a decentralized lending platform backed by allies of President-elect Donald Trump, has announced Tron (CRYPTO: TRON) founder Justin Sun as its new advisor.
What Happened: The decision follows <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42181280/crypto-billionaire-justin-sun-pledges-30m-investment-in-trump-backed-world-liberty-financial-whats-happening">a $30 million investment</a> by HTX, a crypto exchange closely associated with Sun, according to on-chain data.
"We are thrilled to invest $30 million in World Liberty Financial (@worldlibertyfi) as its largest investor," Sun wrote in a pinned post on X.
"The U.S. is becoming the blockchain hub, and Bitcoin owes it to @realDonaldTrump! TRON is committed to making America great again and leading innovation,&#8221; he added.
World Liberty Financial, launched in September 2014 as an Aave (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/aave/usd">AAVE</a>) fork, represents one of Trump's most significant ventures into cryptocurrency.
Once a vocal skeptic of digital assets, the incoming president has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42122348/trumps-planned-crypto-council-may-oversee-bitcoin-reserve-report">recently embraced the industry</a>, promising to ease regulations on blockchain innovation and digital assets in the U.S.

Justin Sun's appointment as an advisor is expected to provide strategic direction for World Liberty Financial.

Sun's blockchain, Tron, remains one of the largest by market capitalization. 
Its TRX token initially launched as an ERC-20 standard before migrating to the native Tron network. 
Despite the announcement, TRX saw a 4.6% decline in value on Tuesday.

Trump-Linked Crypto Platform World Liberty Financial Appoints Justin Sun As Advisor After $30 Million Investment

Legislative progress on providing veterans with access to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/psychedelic-assisted-therapies">psychedelic therapies</a> like psilocybin, found in magic mushrooms, hit a roadblock last week as Virginia lawmakers decided not to advance a bill aimed at expanding mental health treatments for veterans. 
As Henrico Citizen <a href="https://www.henricocitizen.com/veteran-use-of-psychedelics-for-mental-health-care-still-up-in-the-air/">reported</a>, the bill, introduced by Sen. Ghazala Hashmi (D-Richmond) and Del. Michael Jones (D-Richmond), sought to create an advisory council that would study how breakthrough therapies could be used to help <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/41881842/why-do-veterans-deserve-access-to-psychedelic-therapy">reduce veteran suicide rates and treat mental health disorders</a>, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, without further action from lawmakers, the bill was left in committee as of November 18, the deadline for bills to be considered from the previous General Assembly session.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Bill</h3>
The <a href="https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20251/HB80?">legislation</a> proposed a deep dive into federal regulations and licensing requirements for breakthrough therapies, which would include substances like <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/psilocybin">psilocybin</a>. While the bill did not explicitly mention psilocybin, it is recognized as a potential breakthrough therapy due to its promising effects on mental health. Studies, including research from Johns Hopkins Medicine, have found that psilocybin helps alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety and PTSD, and even aids in smoking cessation.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Challenges In Rescheduling Psilocybin For Medicinal Use</h3>
Despite <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/10/41216395/could-psilocybin-be-a-game-changer-for-millions-battling-depression-new-study-says-yes">evidence supporting psilocybin&#8217;s therapeutic potential</a>, it remains a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/federal-schedule-i">Schedule I substance</a> in Virginia, limiting its medical use. In 2023, a <a href="https://legacylis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?231+sum+SB932=&amp;">bill</a> to reschedule it to Schedule III failed. This classification is controversial, especially considering fentanyl, another Schedule I drug, is responsible for most overdose deaths in Virginia, while psilocybin has no overdose-related fatalities.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Veterans Call For Better Mental Health Care And Treatment Access</h3>
Del. Jones, whose father was a Vietnam War veteran, voiced frustration at the lack of action. "Veterans deserve any form of effective mental health care they need," said Jones, emphasizing that improving mental health support for veterans should be a priority. He stressed the importance of exploring all treatment options for veterans, acknowledging the struggles some face just getting through daily life. "Every day isn't easy for everybody," Jones remarked. "For some people getting up on Thursday morning is hard as hell, and so, how do we soften that burden?"
Veterans have <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/10/41320243/massachusetts-veterans-advocate-for-psilocybin-legalization-will-voters-support-them">long advocated for the use of psychedelics</a> to address mental health issues, particularly PTSD, which affects a significant portion of those who have served in the military. Army veteran Anthony Mijares shared his personal testimony about the benefits of psilocybin, stating that it helped him overcome depression and reliance on prescription drugs after his military service. "The military trained me to save people, but it failed to train me on how to heal myself," Mijares said during a 2023 testimony in favor of psilocybin legislation.

Despite setbacks at the state level, Jones remains hopeful that future legislative efforts will prioritize veteran mental health and continue to advance research into psychedelic treatments. "We need to be bold," he said, urging that any future administration support scientific research that could improve the lives of veterans.
Whether the issue will resurface in the upcoming legislative session is still uncertain, as neither Jones nor Hashmi have confirmed plans to reintroduce the bill.

Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM), an active prohibitionist group, has denied allegations of improper communications with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) ahead of next week&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/cannabis-rescheduling">cannabis rescheduling</a> hearing.
SAM's Nov. 25 legal response dismissed the claims as unfounded and aimed at distracting from the proceedings, <a href="https://www.marijuanamoment.net/dea-says-it-didnt-conspire-with-anti-marijuana-group-dismissing-allegedly-illegal-talks-as-gossip/">reported</a> Marijuana Moment.
The hearings, scheduled to begin Dec. 2, will explore the Department of Justice's proposed rule to reschedule cannabis from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The proposal follows recommendations from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">SAM Pushes Back On Collusion Allegations</h3>
The allegations, raised in a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/11/41726679/village-farms-is-only-cannabis-operator-selected-to-represent-weed-industry-at-dea-rescheduling-">joint motion</a> by cannabis company Village Farms International (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VFF#NASDAQ">VFF</a>) and veterans group Hemp for Victory, sought to disqualify SAM and the DEA from participating in the hearings. 
SAM, one of 25 designated participants, countered that the motion was a baseless attempt to smear its reputation.
"This motion is a transparent effort to smear both SAM and the DEA," SAM's lawyers, Patrick F. Philbin and Chase Harrington, wrote.

They argued that the claims amounted to a "sideshow" and urged the DEA's Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) John J. Mulrooney to focus on the substance of the hearing.
While SAM denied any ex parte communications after the May 21 publication of the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM), it acknowledged earlier <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42173101/dea-denies-allegations-of-unlawful-talks-with-anti-marijuana-group">social media posts</a> by its president, Kevin Sabet, predicting that Attorney General Merrick Garland, rather than DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, would sign the NPRM.
Critics allege that Sabet's May 6 post referencing "confidential sources inside DEA" raises questions about transparency. As for that evidence, SAM's lawyers argued the post was made before the NPRM's issuance.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Related Case</h3>
The same DEA judge leading this case has recently denied the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42169153/dea-judge-blocks-researchers-motion-in-cannabis-rescheduling-case">request</a> by research company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42169153/dea-judge-blocks-researchers-motion-in-cannabis-rescheduling-case">MedPharm</a> to participate in the December 2 hearing, citing his limited authority and deferring to the DEA Administrator&#8217;s discretion over participant selection.
MedPharm criticized the exclusion of DEA-licensed marijuana researchers and the inclusion of prohibitionist groups, calling the process biased and undermining its legitimacy. 
Critics worry the imbalance in witness selection could skew the hearing&#8217;s outcomes, despite support from other federal agencies for rescheduling.

Federal Reserve policymakers unanimously decided to reduce interest rates by 25 basis points to a range of 4.5%-4.75% during their November meeting, as they expressed confidence that inflation was moving sustainably toward their 2% target, according to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/interest-rates">meeting minutes released Wednesday.</a>
Participants highlighted several factors expected to maintain downward pressure on inflation, including diminishing business pricing power, the Fed&#8217;s restrictive monetary policy stance, and well-anchored long-term inflation expectations. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Easing Inflation, But Core Pressures Persist</h3>
The minutes revealed that nearly all participants believed the latest data supported the view that inflation was steadily moderating, albeit with volatility in month-to-month readings. 
Inflation, they noted, had eased significantly from its peak. However, core inflation measures—excluding volatile food and energy prices—remained &#8220;somewhat elevated.&#8221;
Policymakers also discussed upside risks to inflation, including potential disruptions in global supply chains due to geopolitical events, a faster-than-anticipated loosening of financial conditions, unexpectedly robust consumer spending, persistent shelter price increases, and surging insurance costs across health, automotive, and housing sectors.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Resilient Economy and Labor Market Underpin Consumer Spending</h3>
Economic data reviewed at the meeting pointed to stronger-than-expected growth in consumer spending and overall economic activity. 
While participants generally agreed that the labor market remained solid, they emphasized the importance of closely monitoring indicators for signs of softening, which could influence the Fed&#8217;s future policy direction.
&#8220;Participants remarked that consumption had been supported by a solid labor market, rising real wages, and elevated household wealth,&#8221; the minutes stated. &nbsp;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Diverging Views on Monetary Policy Adjustments</h3>
The minutes also shed light on varying perspectives regarding the Fed&#8217;s next steps. 
While some participants suggested the central bank could pause its easing cycle and hold rates at restrictive levels if inflation remained sticky, others indicated that policy easing could be accelerated if economic conditions weakened, such as a downturn in the labor market or a notable slowdown in economic activity.
&#8220;Many participants observed that uncertainties concerning the level of the neutral rate of interest complicated the assessment of the degree of restrictiveness of monetary policy and, in their view, made it appropriate to reduce policy restraint gradually,&#8221; according to the November minutes. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reactions</h3>
The release of the Fed meeting minutes had little impact on short-term interest rate markets. 
Fed funds futures continued to show a 59% probability of another 25-basis-point rate cut in December, unchanged from market expectations prior to the minutes&#8217; publication.
The U.S. dollar index (DXY), tracked by the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), held steady, gaining 0.2% on the day. Meanwhile, Treasury yields saw marginal changes, with the 10-year Treasury yield broadly holding at 4.32%.
The S&amp;P 500 index – tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) – also held its marginal session gains, up 0.3%.
