The hospital chain reported adjusted EPS of $5.50, up from $4.29 a year ago, beating the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/07/b39903046/hca-healthcare-reports-second-quarter-2024-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $5.36</a>.
&#8220;The company&#8217;s results for the second quarter were positive and reflected strong demand for our services,&#8221; said Sam Hazen, Chief Executive Officer of HCA Healthcare.
In the second quarter of 2024, same-facility admissions increased 5.8% year over year, while same-facility equivalent admissions increased 5.2%.
Same-facility emergency room visits increased by 5.5%. Same-facility inpatient surgeries increased 2.6%, and same-facility outpatient surgeries declined 2.1%.

For the second quarter of 2024, adjusted EBITDA totaled $3.55 billion, compared to $3.06 billion a year ago.
Guidance:&nbsp;HCA Healthcare&nbsp;revised its fiscal year 2024 revenue guidance to $69.75 billion-$71.75 billion compared to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/04/38463623/why-is-hca-healthcare-stock-trading-lower-on-friday" rel="noreferrer noopener">prior guidance of $67.75 billion-$70.25 billion</a> and the consensus of&nbsp;$69.79 billion.
The company forecasts 2024 EPS&nbsp;guidance&nbsp;of&nbsp;$21.60-22.80, up from the prior guidance of $19.70-$21.20&nbsp;and the consensus of&nbsp;$20.98.
The company expects 2024 adjusted EBITDA of $12.85 billion-$13.55 billion versus the prior guidance of $13.75 billion-$14.25 billion.
Reuters reported that some analysts anticipate U.S. hospitals will benefit from an aging population, while others believe a shift also drives the increased demand for ambulatory care centers that don&#8217;t require overnight stays.

The computer peripheral and software maker&#39;s key metrics, including revenues and earnings, marked strong improvement on a year-over-year basis as well.
Logitech&#39;s fiscal first-quarter non-GAAP earnings of $1.13 per share beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 89 cents and registered a year-over-year increase of 74%. The company&#39;s bottom-line results mainly benefited from increased revenues and lower product costs and promotional costs, leading to gross margin expansion.
Logitech&#39;s first-quarter revenues of $1.1 billion outpaced the consensus mark of $1.03 billion. Moreover, the top line marked a year-over-year increase of 12% on a reported basis and 13% on a constant-currency basis, mainly driven by higher demand across key product categories and efficient inventory management.

Logitech registered sales growth across the majority of key product categories year over year. In the first quarter of fiscal 2024, LOGI reclassified its product segments by removing the Audio &amp; Wearable and Mobile Speakers categories and adding Headsets and Other categories.
Revenues from Keyboards &amp; Combos improved 19% year over year to $215.3 million, while Gaming revenues increased 16% year over year to $309.5 million. Our model estimates for Keyboards &amp; Combos and Gaming sales were pegged at $190.7 million and $281.7 million, respectively.
Revenues from the Headsets product category jumped 20% to $44.2 million, Pointing Devices grew 9% to $190 million, Tablet Accessories increased 12% to $78.5 million and Video Collaboration increased 6% to $147 million. Our model estimates for Headsets, Pointing Devices, Tablet Accessories and Video Collaboration were pegged at $37.8 million, $183.3 million, $74.8 million and $145.9 million, respectively.
On the other hand, Webcams declined 3% to $73 million and the Other category&#39;s revenues fell 1% to $30.7 million. Our estimates for Logitech&#39;s Webcams and Other category&#39;s first-quarter revenues were pegged at $77.1 million and $31.8 million, respectively.
<h3>Margins &amp; Operating Metrics</h3>
The non-GAAP gross profit jumped 24.1% to $466.3 million from $375.6 million reported in the year-ago quarter. The non-GAAP gross margin expanded 430 basis points (bps) from the prior-year quarter to 43.3%. The year-over-year increase was driven by lower product costs and reduced promotional activities.
Non-GAAP operating expenses increased 6.6% to $289 million. As a percentage of revenues, non-GAAP operating expenses declined 130 bps to 26.6%.
The non-GAAP operating income surged 67% to $182 million from $109 million reported in the year-ago quarter. The operating margin improved 560 bps to 16.8% from 11.2% in the year-ago quarter. The increase in the operating margin was mainly driven by improved gross margins, strong executions in operations and lowered spendings on promotional activities.
<h3>Liquidity and Shareholder Return</h3>
As of Jun 30, 2024, LOGI&#39;s cash and cash equivalents were $1.53 billion, up from $1.52 billion recorded in the previous quarter. Additionally, the company generated $176 million in cash from operational activities in the first quarter of fiscal 2025.
In the first quarter, the company repurchased shares worth $131 million but did not pay out dividends.
<h3>Raised Fiscal 2025 Guidance</h3>
Buoyed by stronger-than-expected first-quarter performance, Logitech raised its guidance for fiscal 2025. It now expects fiscal 2025 sales in the band of $4.34-$4.43 billion, up from the previous guidance of $4.3-$4.4 billion. The revised top-line projection reflects a year-over-year increase in the band of 1-3%, up from the earlier range of 0-2%. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal 2025 revenues is pegged at $4.35 billion.
Logitech also revised its projections of non-GAAP operating profit to $700-$730 million, up from the previous guidance of $685-$715 million. The updated guidance for operating income projects year-over-year growth of 0-4%, up from the previous guidance between a decline of 2% and an increase of 2%.

Why Comcast Shares Are Trading Lower By 6%? Here Are Other Stocks Moving In Tuesday's Mid-Day Session

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39911348/ethereum-etfs-start-trading-and-price-discovery-is-inevitable-trader-asserts">Nine spot Ethereum ETFs</a> began trading on US exchanges Tuesday, marking another milestone in the mainstream adoption of digital assets.
What Happened: This launch comes just six months after the debut of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39906763/bitcoin-stuck-below-67k-despite-526m-in-etf-inflows-what-is-going-on">spot Bitcoin ETFs</a> in the United States, which have already accumulated over $54 billion in assets under management.
The new ETH ETFs, offered by major financial players including BlackRock (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLK#NYSE">BLK</a>), Fidelity, Grayscale, and others, are now available on the Cboe (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CBOE#BATS">CBOE</a>), NYSE Arca, and Nasdaq exchanges.
Grayscale&#8217;s Ethereum Mini Trust stands out with the lowest fee of 0.15% and is set to start with approximately $1 billion in assets.
In the early hours of trading, the newly launched Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) ETFs demonstrated significant market interest.
According to data from Yahoo Finance, <a href="https://www.theblock.co/post/306970/ethereum-etfs-hit-300-million-in-trading-volume-in-first-hour-of-being-live-on-the-market?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss">analyzed</a> by The Block Pro Research, these funds collectively amassed $205 million in trading volume within the first 60 minutes.
The momentum continued, with the total volume reaching $300 million approximately 75 minutes after the market opened, at around 10:45 a.m. EST.
To put these figures into perspective, Bloomberg&#8217;s Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas offered his insights on the initial trading performance.
&#8220;Here&#8217;s volume after first 15 minutes of trading. Total of $112m traded for the group (which is A TON vs a normal ETF launch but only about half of what bitcoin ETFs&#8217; volume pace was on DAY ONE, altho 50% would exceed expectations IMO),&#8221; he <a href="https://x.com/EricBalchunas/status/1815767604453138738">said</a>.

He added that the comparison excluded GBTC and if it was included the ETH ETFs do about 20% to 25% of the volume of the BTC ETFs. &#8220;Regardless, very solid showing,&#8221; he said.

What Others Said: Nathan McCauley, CEO of Anchorage Digital, hailed the launch as &#8220;a major step forward in regulatory clarity for the digital asset class.&#8221;
He emphasized that the ETF wrapper will provide a new pathway for safe and compliant exposure to Ethereum, potentially driving billions in inflows from both institutions and consumers.
Konstantin Shulga, CEO and co-founder of Finery Markets, noted the accelerated adoption rate of digital assets and increased institutional involvement. 
He pointed out that Ethereum trading volumes rose by 32% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 in the OTC market. 
However, Shulga cautioned that the full impact of ETF approvals may not be realized for six to nine months, as it takes time for innovative products to be fully integrated into financial players&#8217; portfolios.
Tom Duff Gordon, VP of International Policy at Coinbase (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>), described the approval of spot ETH ETFs as &#8220;a significant milestone in the crypto ecosystem,&#8221; highlighting the ongoing shift towards digital assets in the global financial system. 
Coinbase is serving as the custodian for 8 of the 9 newly approved ETH ETFs.
However, Sergei Gorev, risk manager at YouHodler, offered a more cautious perspective. 
He noted that despite the launch, ETH&#8217;s price dynamics appear weak, suggesting that the market may not fully believe in the great success of Ethereum ETFs. 
Gorev also pointed out the possibility of a &#8220;buy-on-hearsay and sell-on-facts&#8221; scenario, particularly given the timing of the launch during a period when many investors are on vacation.
David Ben Kay, a former advisor and member of the governing board of the Ethereum Foundation, said the launch is a step closer to broader adoption and closer integration into traditional financial markets.
This launch comes at a time of increasing institutional interest in digital assets, as Ethereum continues to solidify its position as a key player in the blockchain and decentralized finance (DeFi) sectors. 
By providing a regulated investment vehicle, investors may have a greater sense of security and compliance. 
However, due to fees and market inefficiencies the ETF price may not always perfectly track Ethereum&#8217;s spot price.
&#8220;Despite risk mitigation, Ethereum remains a volatile asset, and ETF values can fluctuate accordingly. Management fees and expenses associated with ETFs can impact overall returns compared to direct cryptocurrency holdings,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;All in all, the issuance of the spot ETH ETF is definitely a positive move in the journey of broad adoption for cryptocurrencies, but it's likely that initial adoption and market impact may be limited until there is broader acceptance and understanding of crypto ETFs,&#8221; he added.

Pharma giant Johnson &amp; Johnson (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JNJ#NYSE">JNJ</a>) <a href="https://www.investor.jnj.com/news/news-details/2024/Johnson--Johnson-seeks-U.S.-FDA-approval-of-SPRAVATO-esketamine-as-the-first-and-only-monotherapy-for-adults-with-treatment-resistant-depression/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">announced</a> Monday it had asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve its nasal spray as a monotherapy for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) in adults.
The New Jersey-based company's Spravato, contains esketamine as an active ingredient, which is a nasal spray derivative formulation of a dissociative anesthetic, ketamine. While for years, ketamine has been used as an anesthetic in medical settings, recent clinical trials led to its broader application, most commonly for depression treatment.
FDA approved Spravato in 2019 but only in combination with oral antidepressants; it is available through a restricted program requiring monitoring by healthcare professionals. If the FDA approves the new drug application, this will be the first and only monotherapy for adults with treatment-resistant depression, <a href="https://www.greenmarketreport.com/johnson-johnson-requests-fda-nod-for-spravato-as-solo-depression-therapy/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">writes</a> Green Market Report's Adam Jackson.
Nearly 30% of the estimated 280 million people worldwide living with major depressive disorder have TRD, which occurs when there is an inadequate response to two or more oral antidepressants during the same depressive episode.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More Than A Decade Of Research</h2>
&#8220;Many patients living with challenging-to-treat depression spend far too long cycling through multiple treatments that don&#8217;t effectively resolve their symptoms, which can cause a significant functional and emotional burden on patients and their loved ones,&#8221; stated Bill Martin, the head J&amp;J's neuroscience team. &#8220;We&#8217;re pleased to build on the more than a decade of research reinforcing the safety and efficacy of SPRAVATO and look forward to working with the FDA to bring this innovative treatment to patients as a monotherapy option.&#8221;
The application is supported by positive results from a Phase 4 study that showed Spravato, when used alone, produced "a rapid change in Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale total score as early as 24 hours after the first Spravato dose and sustained through at least 4 weeks of treatment," J&amp;J said.
To date, Spravato has been approved in 77 countries and administered to more than 100,000 people worldwide.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strong Sales</h2>
J&amp;J recently reported its financial results revealing nearly 100% growth in Spravato sales year-over-year. While the company suppressed analyst forecasts by reporting adjusted earnings per share of $2.80 versus the consensus of $2.62 and raised full-year earnings guidance, Spravato's sales numbers stood out, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/23/07/33310531/sales-of-johnson-johnson-esketamine-drug-spravato-rise-nearly-100-year-over-year" rel="noreferrer noopener">wrote</a> Shadd Dales for Benzinga.
In the U.S. and worldwide, year-over-year Spravato revenues grew 93.2% and 98.5%, respectively. Overall, Spravato&#8217;s growth was by far the strongest in Johnson &amp; Johnson's Neuroscience portfolio, easily topping CONCERTA (Methylphenidate) growth on a worldwide basis (28.6%).

J&amp;J's shares traded 1.32 lower at $152.27 per share during Monday's mid-day session.

Pharma Giant Johnson & Johnson Asks FDA To Approve Esketamine Nasal Spray For Treatment-Resistant Depression

Invesco&#39;s (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ivz#NYSE">IVZ</a>) second-quarter 2024 adjusted earnings of 43 cents per share surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 41 cents. The bottom line increased 38.7% from the prior-year quarter.
Results have been primarily aided by a decline in adjusted expenses. An increase in the assets under management balance on decent inflows was a positive. However, marginally lower adjusted revenues hurt results to some extent.
On a GAAP basis, net income attributable to common shareholders was $132.2 million or 29 cents per share, unchanged from a year ago. Our estimate for the metric was $146.4 million.
<h3>Adjusted Revenues &amp; Expenses Decline</h3>
Adjusted net revenues were $1.09 billion, falling marginally year over year. The top line marginally surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.08 billion.
Adjusted operating expenses were $750.5 million, down 4.8% on a year-over-year basis. We expected the metric to be $787.9 million.
The adjusted operating margin was 30.9%, up from 27.7% a year ago.
<h3>AUM Balance Increases</h3>
As of Jun 30, 2024, AUM was $1.72 trillion, which increased 11.5% year over year. Our estimate for AUM was $1.67 trillion. The average AUM at second-quarter end totaled $1.67 trillion, up 11.7%.
The company witnessed long-term net inflows of $16.7 billion in the reported quarter.
<h3>Balance Sheet Strong</h3>
As of Jun 30, 2024, cash and cash equivalents were $878.5 million compared with $895.7 million as of Mar 31, 2024.
The long-term debt was $890.1 million.
<h3>Our View</h3>
Invesco is well-poised to benefit from its global footprint, product offerings and strategic buyouts. However, elevated expenses, a challenging market environment and high debt levels are major near-term concerns.

BLK&#39;s results benefited from a rise in revenues. AUM witnessed a solid improvement, driven by net inflows and market appreciation. However, higher expenses and a fall in non-operating income acted as headwinds for BLK.
Blackstone&#39;s (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/bx#NYSE">BX</a>) second-quarter 2024 distributable earnings of 96 cents per share lagged the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 99 cents. The figure declined 3.2% from the prior-year quarter.
BX&#39;s results were primarily hurt by an increase in GAAP expenses. Nevertheless, a rise in segment revenues and an improvement in the AUM balance were tailwinds.

In essence, General Motors is functioning more as a profitable cash generator from traditional gasoline vehicles rather than the high-tech growth engine envisioned by &nbsp;Chief Executive Officer&nbsp;Mary Barra. Despite losses in China, strong U.S. market performance bolsters overall profitability, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-07-23/gm-tops-profit-estimates-raises-forecast-on-strong-truck-demand" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported </a>Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, GM Defense Canada, a subsidiary of GM Defense, has been awarded a&nbsp;C$35.8 million&nbsp;contract by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) for 90 light tactical vehicles (LTVs), with an <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/39907891" rel="noreferrer noopener">option to procure up to an additional 18 LTVs.</a>
&#8220;We see this contract award as the beginning of a long strategic partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces to provide enhanced tactical mobility for Soldiers today, and into the future,&#8221; said Steve duMont, president of GM Defense.
According to&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://pro.benzinga.com/?gspk=YWRhbWVja2VydDUzMzY&amp;gsxid=zBMR4PKmcgBw" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga Pro</a>, GM stock has gained over 18% in the past year. Investors can gain exposure to the stock via First Trust Nasdaq Transportation ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FTXR#NASDAQ">FTXR</a>) and&nbsp;Invesco S&amp;P 500 Pure Value ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RPV#NYSE">RPV</a>).

GM Defense Canada will also provide training, technical manuals, and additional vehicle content sourced from Canadian companies.
Under the contract, GM Defense Canada will supply nine-passenger LTVs and a new utility variant, based on a proven U.S. Army design, to support NATO&#8217;s Enhanced Forward Presence Multinational Battlegroup in Latvia, enhancing mobility and safety in challenging landscapes.
GM Defense Canada&#8217;s light tactical vehicles, built on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 platform, utilize a significant proportion of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) parts, including Chevrolet Performance components. Weighing under 5,000 pounds / 2,232 kilograms, these vehicles prioritize air transportability, maintenance accessibility via GM&#8217;s global supply chain, and robust safety features, meeting stringent CAF performance and safety standards.
&#8220;As we further expand into&nbsp;Canada&nbsp;and with other allied nations around the world, we will continue to leverage the vast resources of General Motors to ensure our global defense and government customers have the best capability to accomplish their mission,&#8221; duMont added.
Earlier today, General Motors&nbsp;reported a fiscal second-quarter 2024 sales growth of 7.2% year-on-year to $47.97 billion, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/39904891" rel="noreferrer noopener">beating the&nbsp;analyst&nbsp;consensus estimate of $45.30 billion.</a>
The adjusted EPS of $3.06 beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.72. In FY24, General Motors projects adjusted EPS of $9.50 – $10.50 (prior $9.00 – $10.00) versus <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $9.72</a>.
