(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TMUS#NASDAQ">TMUS</a>) highlighted how its Starlink Satellite connectivity aided the victims of California wildfires. The company also boasted about its continuing 5G network dominance in the telecom industry.
What Happened: Despite the devastating effects of California wildfires on public infrastructure, T-Mobile&#8217;s network proved remarkably resilient.
CEO Sievert stated during its fourth quarter earnings call that the company activated its innovative Starlink satellite to cellular service on an emergency basis.
This allowed customers in impacted areas to send text messages and receive vital emergency alerts via satellite, even when traditional cell service was disrupted. With the help of TMUS&#8217;s advanced self-optimizing technologies, service was restored to 99% of affected customers within days, added Sievert.

Apart from this, T-Mobile had a banner year in 2024, adding more postpaid phone customers than ever before. This marked the third year in a row that the company added over three million, new postpaid phone subscribers.
The company&#8217;s focus on premium plans also paid off as 60% of new T-Mobile customers opted for it. This drove the average revenue per account to its highest point in over seven years.

T-Mobile exceeded <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/01/43300596/t-mobile-q4-earnings-beats-estimates-adds-1-9-million-postpaid-customers-targets-6-million-new-customers-in-2025">expectations</a> in its latest quarterly earnings, reporting earnings per share of $2.57 and revenue of $21.87 billion, surpassing analyst estimates on both counts. This strong performance represents a significant increase over last year&#8217;s sales from the same quarter of $20.48 billion. &nbsp; 
Looking ahead, T-Mobile anticipates continued growth with projected postpaid net customer additions between 5.5 million and 6 million in the next fiscal.
The company also provided strong financial guidance, forecasting core adjusted EBITDA of $33.1 billion to $33.6 billion, net cash from operations of $26.8 billion to $27.5 billion, and adjusted free cash flow of $17.3 billion to $18.0 billion.
Price Action: TMUS shares closed 6.34% higher on Wednesday and advanced by 0.73% in after-hours to $236.86 per share, outpacing the exchange-traded fund tracking the Nasdaq 100 index Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1 (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which declined 0.19% to $520.83.
According to the 24 analysts <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/TMUS/analyst-ratings">tracked by Benzinga</a>, TMUS has a consensus price target of $228.61 per share with a &#8216;buy&#8217; rating. The highest target price is $280 and the lowest is $160.
The average price target of $238.33 apiece between Benchmark, RBC Capital, and Wells Fargo implies a 0.62% upside.

Litecoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ltc/usd">LTC</a>) soared to double-digit gains on Wednesday after the SEC formally acknowledged its exchange-traded fund application.
What happened: The regulator solicited comments on the ETF applied by digital asset trading firm Canary Capital and asked for those to be submitted 21 days after publication in the Federal Register.
"Interested persons are invited to submit written data, views, and arguments concerning the foregoing, including whether the proposed rule change is consistent with the Act," a statement from the filing read.
The development sparked over a 11% increase in LTC, making it the biggest 24-hour gainer among coins valued at $1 billion or more. Its trading volume nearly doubled to $1.19 billion.
Leading ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said the Canary Capital ETF filing was "by far the furthest along checking all the boxes," since <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39992759/ethereum-etfs-debut-on-u-s-exchanges-a-new-era-for-digital-assets">the approval of</a> spot Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>)-based ETFs last year.

Interestingly, the SEC described Litecoin as &#8220;very similar&#8221; to Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), the first cryptocurrency with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/43064882/bitcoin-etfs-outperform-in-first-year-but-solana-xrp-etfs-face-challenges-expert-says">ETF shares</a> trading on Wall Street.
"No single entity owns or operates the Litecoin Network, the infrastructure of which is collectively maintained by a decentralized user base," the SEC noted.
Why It Matters: The SEC acknowledgment comes roughly two weeks after the Nasdaq stock exchange <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/01/43047964/litecoin-surges-12-after-analyst-says-altcoin-most-likely-to-have-next-etf-after-bitcoin-ethereum">submitted a 19b-4 application</a> to list the ETF, which followed Canary Capital's amended S-1 registration application.

Litecoin Spikes Over 11% After SEC Acknowledges ETF Filing—Market Regulator Says LTC 'Very Similar' To Bitcoin

Shell plc (the ‘Company') today announces the commencement of a $3.5 billion share buyback programme covering an aggregate contract term of approximately three months (the ‘programme'). The purpose of the programme is to reduce the issued share capital of the Company. All shares repurchased as part of the programme will be cancelled. Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) CEO Elon Musk reiterated his criticism of LiDAR on Wednesday but explained that he is not fundamentally against the technology.
What Happened: &#8220;Obviously, humans drive without shooting lasers out of their eyes. I mean, unless you&#8217;re Superman&#8230;. humans drive with eyes and a neural net and a brain neural net, sort of biological&#8230; the digital equivalent of eyes and a brain are cameras and digital neural nets or AI,&#8221; Musk said in the company&#8217;s fourth-quarter earnings call. 
Musk said that LiDAR is simply the &#8220;wrong solution&#8221; for self-driving cars on roads. However, his rocket manufacturing company SpaceX&#8217;s Dragon spacecraft continues to use it for docking with the space station, he said. 
Why It Matters: Musk&nbsp;has previously criticized LiDAR,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/11/41699028/tesla-investor-says-ev-giant-will-admit-it-needs-lidar-despite-elon-musk-calling-it-a-crutch" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">terming it a "crutch</a>". None of the company&#8217;s sold vehicles have lidars. In 2022, the company also removed ultrasonic sensors from its vehicles to rely solely on cameras.
However, not all are in agreement with Musk&#8217;s decision to rely solely on cameras for autonomous driving.

What Happened: IBM has integrated AI in all of its business segments, from the tools clients use to manage and optimize their hybrid cloud environments, infrastructure, consulting, and its platform products.
