What To Know: The acquisition was completed through a purchase from the company&#8217;s CEO Danny Meeks. The strategic initiative is expected to eliminate $1.7 million in annual rent expenses, substantially improve Greenwave&#8217;s cash flow and reduce operating costs, providing the company with more financial flexibility.
The acquired facilities are spread across critical locations in Virginia including Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Portsmouth. The sites are strategically important due to their proximity to major infrastructure, including the largest U.S. Naval Base in Norfolk and the Port of Virginia in Portsmouth.
Additionally, the facilities benefit from grandfathered operational licenses that create high barriers to entry in the tightly regulated metal recycling industry, further strengthening Greenwave's competitive advantage.
Greenwave operates 13 metal recycling facilities across Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio, supplying steel mills and industrial companies with ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The company&#8217;s operations play a vital role in the recycling supply chain, contributing raw materials for critical infrastructure and national security projects, including U.S. warships.

He added: &#8220;As for &#8216;what will we do then?&#8217;, FromSoftware is running multiple projects as usual. Among them, there are various variations of projects, so I hope you will look forward to them.&#8221;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Speculation: What's Next For FromSoftware?</h3>
Beyond Elden Ring, FromSoftware appears to be juggling a slate of unannounced projects. Earlier this year, now-deleted job listings sparked speculation of a potential new Armored Core installment, with mentions of robot characters fueling the theory. Given the studio's legacy in mecha-themed titles, such a pivot would align with its history of alternating between genres.

At the recent <a href="https://benzinga.swoogo.com/digital-assets/6342807">Benzinga Future of Digital Assets</a> event, industry leaders tackled how stablecoins are reshaping finance, spurring adoption among institutional investors, and addressing operational hurdles in digital markets. The panel, moderated by BlackRock's Kyle Braden, featured Jennifer O'Rourke of DTCC Digital Assets, Chuck Mounts of S&amp;P Global Ratings, and David Alderman of Franklin Templeton, who provided valuable perspectives.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Stablecoins: A Bridge To Institutional Participation</h4>
Mounts described stablecoins as a critical link between traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. 
"Stablecoins are&#8230; positioned to be the accelerant to the mass adoption for tradfi firms and crypto financial capabilities in the marketplace," he explained. Mounts shared how S&amp;P Global's stablecoin stability assessment tool is helping institutions evaluate the risk of stablecoins losing their peg to fiat currencies, adding a layer of confidence for new entrants to the market.
Mounts emphasized the need for stablecoins to underpin the tokenization of real-world assets, citing the potential for increased liquidity and operational efficiency. "Policy formation is the single most important non-technology catalyst," he added, predicting that stablecoin legislation could be the first crypto-related law passed by the new Congress.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Overcoming Liquidity And Settlement Challenges</h4>
O'Rourke highlighted the practical challenges tied to stablecoin adoption, particularly regarding liquidity pools and settlement speed. She explained that tokenized assets offer fast and programmable transactions, but the supporting payment systems often lag. 
"If you're going to buy a tokenized asset&#8230; you need to be able to pay for it as quickly as you want to receive it," O'Rourke stated. Addressing this disparity, she argued, is essential for widespread adoption.
O'Rourke also touched on the fragmented nature of liquidity in digital markets, where isolated pools make seamless transactions difficult. She stressed the importance of standardizing processes to connect these pools, paving the way for a more cohesive digital marketplace.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Regulatory Clarity On The Horizon</h4>
Alderman of Franklin Templeton pointed to recent shifts in U.S. regulation as promising for stablecoins and digital assets. "I think a lot of crypto companies that were thinking about leaving the U.S. will stay, just because now it's a more pro-crypto stance," he said. 
Alderman added that regulatory clarity would encourage companies to invest in new technologies and infrastructure, further supporting the adoption of stablecoins.
Mounts agreed, describing the potential for stablecoin legislation to reduce uncertainty and enable financial institutions to participate more actively in the market. He also noted that stablecoins could play a role in dollarizing foreign economies, citing their use in markets like Argentina as an example.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Building A Path Forward</h4>
As the discussion wrapped up, panelists agreed that while stablecoins present challenges, their potential to transform finance is undeniable. The ongoing work to address operational hurdles and regulatory ambiguity will lay the groundwork for broader adoption, making stablecoins a cornerstone of future financial systems.
From their use in tokenizing real-world assets to their potential impact on global markets, stablecoins are proving to be a driving force in bringing digital assets into the institutional fold.

'Policy Formation Will Be Critical': Experts Weigh In On Stablecoin Adoption

Decibel Cannabis Company Inc. (TSXV:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DB#TSXV">DB</a>) (OTCQB:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DBCCF#OTCQB">DBCCF</a>) announced Tuesday that it has received final acceptance from the TSX Venture Exchange for its previously announced acquisition of a Canadian licensed producer of cannabis, AgMedica Bioscience Inc.
The acquisition, arranged through an agreement with Callisto Capital Corp. on October 28, 2024, was made in exchange for a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/10/41600492/decibel-acquires-agmedica-announces-private-placement-and-third-quarter-guidance">$6.3 million unsecured convertible debenture</a>. As a result of receiving the acceptance, Decibel has completed the conversion of the convertible debenture, pursuant to which it has issued 114.55 million common shares to Callisto.
The conversion of the convertible debenture was conditional upon receipt of final TSXV acceptance for the acquisition of AgMedica pursuant to Exchange Policy 5.3. This policy would have required approval from disinterested shareholders if Callisto became a major controller of the company. However, because the company has finished its recent private funding, Callisto will not control the company after the bond is converted. Therefore, approval from disinterested shareholders is not needed for the conversion.

On Nov. 25, the Calgary, Alberta-based cannabis company confirmed completion of the second and final closing of non-brokered private placement of its common shares at $0.06 per share. At the second closing of the offering, it issued 19.65 million shares for gross proceeds of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/financing/24/11/42164794/decibel-cannabis-raises-1-18m-secures-capital-for-agmedica-bioscience-integration">roughly $1.18 million.</a>
Previously, Decibel projected that AgMedica could <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/10/41600492/decibel-acquires-agmedica-announces-private-placement-and-third-quarter-guidance">contribute $30 million of net revenue</a> and $4 million of EBITDA in 2025, totaling an anticipated $130 million of net revenue and $25 million of adjusted EBITDA in 2025 on a pro-forma basis.
The transaction is expected to materially expand Decibel&#8217;s international footprint with EU GMP certification that enables export of flower and a variety of extract products, with proven sales to seven different countries including Australia, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Price Action
Decibel shares closed Monday's market session 6.62% higher at $0.0499 per share.

Scotiabank: Zscaler's billings rose 13% year-on-year in the fiscal first quarter. The fiscal 2025 guidance was &#8220;no doubt an underwhelming start to the year," Colville said. CFO Remo Canessa's retirement "will add more uncertainty on Zscaler's commitment to its F25 billings target," he added.
The company's profitability in the first quarter was healthy, suggesting "plenty of room to beat and raise through the remainder of the fiscal year," the analyst stated. "While Zscaler is undoubtedly a tough story to love right now, we continue to wholeheartedly believe in our medium-term thesis, that Zscaler is a leader in SASE, a market which is far from saturated," he further wrote.
JMP Securities: Zscaler's quarterly results were healthy "across all guided metrics," Walsh said. Non-GAAP earnings of 77 cents per share came in higher than consensus of 63 cents, while revenues of $628.0 million were ahead of consensus of $606.1 million, he added.
The company's full-year revenue guidance reflects 21% growth, versus 26% year-on-year growth reported for the fiscal first quarter. Canessa&#8217;s retiring after eight years with the company overshadows the quarterly results, Walsh added.
BMO Capital Markets: Zscaler delivered a modest billings beat for the quarter. The company also raised its full-year guide by the amount of the billings beat. Billings growth of 13% year-on-year marks a deceleration from the previous quarter's 27% growth, with a decline in new and upsell billings.
The company reported RPO of $4.41 billion, with 26% year-on-year growth, Bachman said. The retirement of Canessa, 67, seems "appropriate and understandable.&#8221;
Oppenheimer: Zscaler's results were "solid" and better than expected, driven by "growing customer demand for emerging products and large-customer activity," Kidron said. "Mgmt. also highlighted improved sales productivity and lower attrition, supporting improved pipeline generation and customer engagement.&#8221;
The analyst expressed optimism around Zscaler making a strong recovery in the back half of fiscal 2025 and momentum building in fiscal 2026, "as the sales motion matures and emerging products drive expansion." 
Investors could still adopt a "wait-and-see approach." Guidance for the rest of the year remains unchanged. But the CFO transition causes "added uncertainty," he further wrote.
RBC Capital Markets: Zscaler delivered a beat "across the board" that flowed through to the raised guidance, Hedberg said. The results were highlighted by 26% revenue growth 13% billings growth, he added.
The midpoint of the full-year revenue guidance suggests 21.5% growth, while that of billings points to 19.6% growth.
Stifel: Zscaler's quarterly results reflected ongoing demand for the company's "broadening zero-trust portfolio,' Borg said. Elevated expectations exerted pressure on the stock, he added.
Shares traded lower on the news of Canessa&#8217;s retirement. "We think shares likely trade sideways until investors get more confidence in the F2H25 ramp/new CFO," Borg further wrote.
Needham: Zscaler outperformed expectations in the quarter. Upside to billings is being driven by "20%-plus yr-yr growth in Unscheduled Billings (composed of New, Upsell, &amp; Renewal Billings)," Cikos said in the initiation note.
Management raised the full-year guidance only by the first-quarter beat, which is "in keeping with Zscaler&#8217;s typical prudence in guidance-setting," the analyst stated. This suggests that the company is likely to outperform over the remainder of the year, he added.
"We believe continued improvement in attrition, alongside go-to-market efforts can help Zscaler deliver further outperformance through FY25, particularly as new products gain traction," Cikos further wrote.
Guggenheim Securities: There was "significant moderation in business momentum," with billings growth decelerating to 13%, "which was halved from the 27% in the previous quarter," DiFucci said.
The company could achieve 19% billings growth in the first half of the year, provided new and renewal contracts of the last two years "are automatically billed (assuming 3-year deals)," the analyst stated. This could be followed by 25% growth in the second half, he added.
Price Action: Shares of Zscaler had declined by 4.10% to $199.96 at the time of publication on Tuesday.

Some questioned the move, while others praised it, including rapper, cannabis entrepreneur and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/04/31861662/snoop-dogg-praises-nba-cannabis-testing-policy-change-i-thought-of-the-medical-side-of-it">advocate</a> Snoop Dogg.
Former NBA player Jason Williams, who played from 1998 to 2011, said even if marijuana had been legal during his playing days, he wouldn&#8217;t have used it before games.
Williams admitted he experimented with cannabis during his years in court. However, he didn't believe it made him a better player. Marijuana enhanced his creativity and imagination on the court, Williams said.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t think anyone should probably smoke before a game, Williams <a href="https://www.basketballnetwork.net/off-the-court/jason-williams-would-never-do-pre-game-marijuana-smoking#comments">told</a> Basketball Network. Comparing marijuana to alcohol, Williams, who is nicknamed &#8220;White Chocolate,&#8221; argued alcohol is &#8220;way worse for an athlete.&#8221; He said marijuana use was less harmful compared to the risks associated with alcohol.
&#8220;After a game or whatnot, you go home and smoke one. It ain&#8217;t like you&#8217;re going to go out to the club, drinking a beer, speeding, or doing DUI things like that,&#8221; Williams said. &#8220;If anybody thinks that marijuana is a performance-enhancing drug, they&#8217;ve never smoked it.&#8221;

That&rsquo;s because the lithium commodity&rsquo;s dreadful impact on landscapes and its lackluster performance. For investors, lithium was not always the most exciting play, after all, it supported the steady smartphone and rechargeable battery industry. Yet, in the past decade, novel electric vehicles hit the consumer market, causing the <a href="https://www.politico.eu/sponsored-content/why-is-lithium-so-important-to-the-transition-to-a-carbon-free-world/">lithium extraction sector to boom</a>. Now, after some correction in the market, there are some obvious <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/battery/lithium/">lithium stocks</a> to avoid in comparison to others.



With the profit margins of lithium extraction thinning, the mining companies that do not keep operating expenditures in check could be the first to go in the event of a broader market meltdown. That&rsquo;s because its only mining operations focused on developing the Goulamina Lithium Project in Mali.&nbsp;



However, it has since announced the sale of its <a href="https://www.mining.com/web/leo-lithium-sells-mali-project-stake-to-ganfeng-for-342-million/">remaining 40% stake</a> in the project to its joint venture partner, Ganfeng Lithium (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/gnenf-stock-quote/">GNENF</a>), the company seems to have left investors wanting. From the sale, the company will receive $342.7 million of which it will have to delegate $60 million to the Malian government to satisfy their original contract on the mine.



That last part seems to be what pushed Leo Lithium out of Mali, as the company had attempted to reach a &ldquo;viable agreement&rdquo; with Mali due to its new mining codes. Before the legal changes, the Malian government had a 20% stake with it now rising to 30% and an extra 5% going to a local Malian entity. With no clear mining replacement in sight, investors should consider LLLAF among lithium stocks to avoid.



<h2>Galan Lithium (GLNLF)</h2>

Such is the case with Galan Lithium (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLNLF#OTC">GLNLF</a>), which is seeing operating costs rise along with dropping revenue. Both the company&rsquo;s year-to-date and 12-month returns are significantly negative.



For example, if you had invested $1000 in gallon lithium at the beginning of 2024, you would only have $511 as a result of the company&rsquo;s stock losing 49.9% of its value in just five months.&nbsp;



These financials come despite the company&rsquo;s solid position in the Argentinian portion of the lithium triangle of South America. Galan Lithium touts these deposits are among the world&rsquo;s purest, yet hasn&rsquo;t turned a profit in the <a href="https://www.google.com/finance/quote/GLN:ASX?sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjCi9KavICGAxVY8wIHHdo5DdcQ3ecFegQIIBAf">last four quarters</a>. As such, investors should put Galan Lithium on their list of lithium stocks to avoid until the company has solid profits to show for it.



<h2>Ganfeng Lithium (GNENF)</h2>

As previously mentioned, the company acquired the project stake of its partner, Leo Lithium for $342.7 million. This expenditure will likely cut into its short-term cash reserves but could prove tricky for the Chinese firm.



That&rsquo;s because the Malian government&rsquo;s new legal requirements and relative propensity for instability could result in a loss for Ganfeng. With <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/5/8/armed-groups-committing-atrocities-in-mali-hrw">armed gangs</a> terrorizing swaths of territory through Mali, the situation for miners and developers in the region could deteriorate rapidly.



Moreover, the European Union has decided to <a href="https://www.euractiv.com/section/defence-and-security/news/eu-not-renewing-mali-military-training-mission/">no longer support the mission</a> of training the Malian military. This will likely only worsen the conflict situation. Ultimately, investors might want to avoid Ganfeng until its lithium play in Mali matures.
