This is a 7.08 percent decrease over earnings of $2.12 per share from the same period last year.  The company reported quarterly sales of $1.991 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.839 billion by 8.24 percent.  This is a 3.40 percent decrease over sales of $2.061 billion the same period last year.</p>

<p><strong>Perfect Corp</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PERF#NYSE">PERF</a>) announced financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2024, the second quarter.</p>
<p>Total revenue was $13.9 million, compared to $12.7 million year ago, an increase of 9.6%. The increase was primarily due to growth in the revenue of AI- and AR-cloud solutions and mobile app subscriptions.</p>
<p>Gross profit was $11.0 million compared with $10.2 million in the year-ago quarter, an increase of 7.8%.</p>
<p>Despite the increase in gross profit, the gross margin slightly decreased to 79.3% for the second quarter, from 80.6% last year, primarily due to the increase in third-party payment processing fees paid to digital distribution partners such as Google and Apple related to the growth in its mobile app subscription revenue.</p>
<p>Net income was $0.8 million for Q2 compared to a net loss of $0.2 million. Adjusted net income was $1.3 million compared to adjusted net income of $0.9 million in 2023, an increase of 43.8%.</p>
<p>Operating cash flow was $2.0 million in the second quarter of 2024, compared to $2.6 million a decrease of 24.6%.</p>
<p>As of June 30, 2024, Perfect Corp held $120.8 million in cash and cash equivalents, compared to $122.0 million as of March 31, 2024.</p>
<p>Perfect Corp had 151 key customers as of June 30, 2024, compared with 152 as of March 31, 2024. The slight decrease in the number of key customers primarily resulted from specific brand clients&#8217; non-renewal of customer contracts due to financial pressure, among other factors.</p>
<p>As of June 30, 2024, Perfect Corp&#8217;s cumulative customer base included 686 brand clients, with over 774,000 digital stock-keeping units for makeup, haircare, skincare, eyewear, and jewelry products, compared to 666 brand clients and over 745,000 digital SKUs as of March 31, 2024.</p>
<p>Perfect Corp&#8217;s YouCam mobile beauty app active subscribers grew by 18.3% year-over-year, reaching a record high of over 919,000 active subscribers at the end of the second quarter of 2024.</p>
<p>Perfect Corp expects such legacy non-recurring revenue to become increasingly insignificant as it continues strengthening its market leadership in providing AI—and AR-based SaaS subscription solutions for brands and customers.</p>
<p>Based on the growth momentum in enterprise SaaS solution demands and YouCam mobile app subscriptions during the first half of 2024, Perfect Corp reiterates its expectation that the year-over-year growth rate of total revenue in 2024 would range from 12% to 16% compared to 2023.</p>
<p><strong>Price Action: </strong>PERF shares closed higher by 1.85% at $2.20 at Tuesday.</p>

<p>Whether you&rsquo;re a staunch environmentalist or an electric vehicle enthusiast, the current state of the lithium industry is concerning. That&rsquo;s because the lithium commodity&rsquo;s dreadful impact on landscapes and its lackluster performance. For investors, lithium was not always the most exciting play, after all, it supported the steady smartphone and rechargeable battery industry. Yet, in the past decade, novel electric vehicles hit the consumer market, causing the <a href="https://www.politico.eu/sponsored-content/why-is-lithium-so-important-to-the-transition-to-a-carbon-free-world/">lithium extraction sector to boom</a>. Now, after some correction in the market, there are some obvious <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/battery/lithium/">lithium stocks</a> to avoid in comparison to others.</p>



<p>With the profit margins of lithium extraction thinning, the mining companies that do not keep operating expenditures in check could be the first to go in the event of a broader market meltdown. Thus, investors may want to avoid investing in these three lithium stocks with slim prospects for the coming year.</p>



<h2>Leo Lithium (LLLAF)</h2>

Lithium Stocks to Buy"><div>Source: Shutterstock</div></div><p><strong>Leo Lithium</strong> (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lllaf-stock-quote/"><strong>LLLAF</strong></a>) once represented a pure-play in <a href="https://www.leolithium.com/">West African lithium mining</a>, but as of May 8, its future seems uncertain. That&rsquo;s because its only mining operations focused on developing the Goulamina Lithium Project in Mali.&nbsp;</p>



<p>However, it has since announced the sale of its <a href="https://www.mining.com/web/leo-lithium-sells-mali-project-stake-to-ganfeng-for-342-million/">remaining 40% stake</a> in the project to its joint venture partner, <strong>Ganfeng Lithium </strong>(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/gnenf-stock-quote/"><strong>GNENF</strong></a>), the company seems to have left investors wanting. From the sale, the company will receive $342.7 million of which it will have to delegate $60 million to the Malian government to satisfy their original contract on the mine.</p>



<p>That last part seems to be what pushed Leo Lithium out of Mali, as the company had attempted to reach a &ldquo;viable agreement&rdquo; with Mali due to its new mining codes. Before the legal changes, the Malian government had a 20% stake with it now rising to 30% and an extra 5% going to a local Malian entity. With no clear mining replacement in sight, investors should consider LLLAF among lithium stocks to avoid.</p>



<h2>Galan Lithium (GLNLF)</h2>

Such is the case with <strong>Galan Lithium</strong> (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLNLF#OTC">GLNLF</a>), which is seeing operating costs rise along with dropping revenue. Both the company&rsquo;s year-to-date and 12-month returns are significantly negative.</p>



<p>For example, if you had invested $1000 in gallon lithium at the beginning of 2024, you would only have $511 as a result of the company&rsquo;s stock losing 49.9% of its value in just five months.&nbsp;</p>



<p>These financials come despite the company&rsquo;s solid position in the Argentinian portion of the lithium triangle of South America. Galan Lithium touts these deposits are among the world&rsquo;s purest, yet hasn&rsquo;t turned a profit in the <a href="https://www.google.com/finance/quote/GLN:ASX?sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjCi9KavICGAxVY8wIHHdo5DdcQ3ecFegQIIBAf">last four quarters</a>. As such, investors should put Galan Lithium on their list of lithium stocks to avoid until the company has solid profits to show for it.</p>



<h2>Ganfeng Lithium (GNENF)</h2>

Schneider / Shutterstock.com</div></div><p>A major player in the Chinese and global lithium markets, Ganfeng Lithium may have its work cut out for it. As previously mentioned, the company  acquired the project stake of its partner, Leo Lithium for $342.7 million. This expenditure will likely cut into its short-term cash reserves but could prove tricky for the Chinese firm.</p>



<p>That&rsquo;s because the Malian government&rsquo;s new legal requirements and relative propensity for instability could result in a loss for Ganfeng. With <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/5/8/armed-groups-committing-atrocities-in-mali-hrw">armed gangs</a> terrorizing swaths of territory through Mali, the situation for miners and developers in the region could deteriorate rapidly.</p>



<p>Moreover, the European Union has decided to <a href="https://www.euractiv.com/section/defence-and-security/news/eu-not-renewing-mali-military-training-mission/">no longer support the mission</a> of training the Malian military. This will likely only worsen the conflict situation. Ultimately, investors might want to avoid Ganfeng until its lithium play in Mali matures.</p>
