Samsung Electronics will repurchase 3 trillion won in shares from November 18, 2024, to February 17, 2025, as the first phase of its new buyback plan.
The buyback includes 50.14 million common shares and 6.91 million preferred shares, all of which will be canceled to enhance shareholder value.
The remaining portion of the share buyback program will be executed in phases, with timing and methods determined by the Board of Directors.
Samsung Electronics posted a net income of $7.1 billion for the third quarter, with $2.8 billion in profit from its chip division, boosted by strong AI and data center demand. However, delays in NVIDIA&#8217;s AI chip certification allowed competitors SK Hynix and Micron to gain an edge in high-bandwidth memory sales. Mobile chip sales dipped due to inventory adjustments.

Samsung Plans Massive $7.2B Stock Buyback: Details

EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) on Thursday announced the company&#8217;s new charging equipment called the V4 cabinet aimed at increasing charging speed and enabling sufficient charging infrastructure for the company&#8217;s upcoming <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tesla-semi">Tesla Semi</a> vehicle slated to enter production in 2026.
What Happened: The V4 Cabinet, Tesla said, supports 400V-1000V vehicle architectures and is capable of delivering up to 500kW for cars and 1.2 MW for the company&#8217;s upcoming Semi. It powers 8 posts and twice the stalls per cabinet. 
&#8220;Our first sites with V4 Cabinets are going into permitting now. First openings in 2025,&#8221; Tesla said in a post on X. 
While Tesla launched its V4 posts last year, it was still using a V3 cabinet, limiting power output.

&#8220;There&#8217;s great engineering behind the V4 system that enables faster charging speeds, lower deployment costs, more efficient power conversion, and higher power density. These benefits for Tesla Semi customers will be a key part of scaling electric trucking,&#8221; Senior Manager for Semi Truck Engineering Dan Priestly said in a post on X.
The new V4 cabinet can also enable charging the company&#8217;s Cybertruck 30% faster, the company said.
Max de Zegher, Tesla&#8217;s Director of Charging, North America, highlighted the efficiency improvements of the new V4 Cabinet, saying, &#8220;Even some of the small incremental improvements matter. V4 Cabinet has a 2% efficiency improvement. Superchargers already deliver over 5 TWh/year, 100 GWh/year in waste heat that can be saved.&#8221;
This is equivalent to the annual electricity usage of over 9,000 households in the U.S. on average, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

During Tesla&#8217;s annual shareholder meeting in June, Tesla CEO&nbsp;Elon Musk&nbsp;slammed rumors of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/05/38757383/elon-musk-announces-500m-investment-in-teslas-supercharger-network-expansion-in-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">death of its supercharger network&nbsp;</a>following a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41200538/tesla-supercharger-network-growth-slows-sequentially-ev-giant-adds-2-800-stalls-in-q3">major layoff in April </a>as &#8220;greatly exaggerated.&#8221; Tesla will invest $500 million in expanding the network this year, Musk then said.
Tesla&#8217;s company-wide layoffs in April impacted <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/05/38846223/elon-musk-fired-supercharger-chief-rebecca-tinucci-and-her-entire-team-after-she-refused-to-lay-off" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">500 members of the supercharging team</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla&#8217;s then Senior Director of Charging Infrastructure, left the company.

Despite softer coal market conditions, CEO Andy Eidson noted solid performance, although market deterioration has continued since the quarter ended.&nbsp;



Segment coal sales costs dropped to $115.65 per ton in Q1 2024, down from $119 per ton in Q4 2023, while operating cash flow decreased to $196.1 million and capital expenditures increased to $63.6 million.



Alpha&#8217;s share repurchase program authorized up to $1.5 billion and by April 30, 2024, the company repurchased 6.6 million shares for $1.1 billion, leaving 13,007,215 shares outstanding.



2. Metals Acquisition (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MTAL#NYSE">MTAL</a>) announced it will redeem all its outstanding public and private placement warrants for ordinary shares on June 5, 2024, for 10 cents per warrant.

This aligns with the company&#8217;s goal of a simplified capital structure.&nbsp;



Warrant holders can either exercise their warrants for $11.50 each, surrender them on a cashless basis for a fraction of an ordinary share or let the company redeem them for 10 cents per warrant.

3. Latin Metals (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LMSQF#OTC">LMSQF</a>) gave an update on its 100% owned Organullo Project, where an option agreement allows AngloGold Argentina Exploraciones (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AU#NYSE">AU</a>) to earn up to 80% interest.

AngloGold&#8217;s geophysical survey identified a high-priority drill corridor in West Graben.&nbsp;



Prior mapping and sampling identified three drill targets with advanced argillic alteration spanning over six kilometers.



Organullo&#8217;s eastern graben, near the historical Julio Verne Mine, has seen past exploration, but the western graben has been overlooked.&nbsp;



AngloGold&#8217;s holistic approach identified potential for porphyry copper-gold and high-sulphidation epithermal gold deposits, untested by drilling.&nbsp;



Their exploration thesis could lead to a significant discovery.



4. Idaho Strategic Resources (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IDR#NYSE">IDR</a>) reported a 76.5% increase in revenue, quarterly earnings of 17 cents per share and a 35-fold rise in net income for Q1 2024.

Gold production increased by 80.6% to 3,116 ounces, while the all-in sustaining cost per ounce dropped 28.8% to $1,097.09. 



When asked for a comment, spokesperson Travis Swallow noted the company is now able to reinvest in production and exploration and is motivated to unlock the Murray Gold Belt District&#8217;s potential and advance Idaho&#8217;s rare earth projects.



The company also purchased the Butte Gulch property and long-lead time components for its planned paste backfill system, aiming to save up to $800,000 annually.&nbsp;



A renewed contract with H&amp;H Metals is expected to save up to $400,000 annually.
