(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SWK#NYSE">SWK</a>) shares are trading lower after the company reported better-than-expected <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/02/n43489206/stanley-black-decker-reports-4q-full-year-2024-results">fourth-quarter results and provided 2025 guidance.</a>
Stanley Black&nbsp;&amp; Decker&nbsp;reported a fourth-quarter sales decline of 0.43% year over year to $3.720 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $3.580 billion.
Quarterly net sales remained flat, as volume growth (+4%) was offset by declines in price (-1%), currency (-1%), and the Infrastructure divestiture (-2%).
Gross profit increased 3.6% to $1.144 billion, and the gross margin expanded by 120 basis points to 30.8%. The adjusted gross margin was 31.2%, up 140 bps YoY.
Net earnings from continuing operations were 5.2% of sales, up from a loss from continuing operations (7.4%) of sales in the prior year. EBITDA rose to 9.1% of sales from 4.2%, while adjusted EBITDA increased to 10.2% of sales from 9.4%.
Adjusted EPS of $1.49 <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">beat the analyst consensus of $1.27.</a>
Tools &amp; Outdoor net sales grew 2% YoY, with 4% volume growth offset by price (-1%) and currency (-1%), driving 3% organic revenue growth. Tools &amp; Outdoor segment margin was 9.2%, down 10 bps YoY, and adjusted segment&nbsp;margin rose to 10.2% (+20 bps), supported by supply chain transformation despite higher costs and growth investments.
Industrial net sales declined 15% YoY, with flat organic sales. Industrial&nbsp;segment margin dropped to 10.7% from 11.2% and an adjusted margin was 10.7% vs. 11.1%, primarily due to lower automotive volume.
Operating cash flow for the quarter was $679 million, compared to $769.3 million a year ago. Free cash flow was ~$565 million. Stanley held $290.5 million in cash and equivalents as of December 28, 2024.
In the fourth quarter, Stanley Black &amp; Decker&#8217;s Global Cost Reduction Program generated $110 million in additional pre-tax savings, contributing to total savings of approximately $1.5 billion since mid-2022 and supporting a return to 35%+ adjusted gross margins.

2025 Outlook: Excluding new tariffs, Stanley Black &amp; Decker expects GAAP EPS of $4.05 (+/- $0.65) and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance">adjusted EPS of $5.25 (+/- $0.50) versus consensus of $5.38.</a>
The GAAP-to-adjusted EPS difference of $1.05 to $1.35 mainly reflects charges from the Global Cost Reduction Program&#8217;s supply chain transformation.
The company sees free cash flow of $750 million (+/—$100 million), excluding new tariffs.
The company plans to provide its base planning assumptions and commentary on the current tariff environment. In its conference call, the company said it sees annualized, unmitigated hit of around $90 million &#8211; $100 million if 10% China tariffs remain.
Price Action: SWK shares are trading lower by 5.67% at $81.75 premarket at the last check Wednesday.

Sports revenue (mostly comprised of ESPN) remained flat year over year at $4.85 billion. Experiences revenue (including Disney&#8217;s theme parks and consumer products) climbed 3% year over year to $9.42 billion.
In the Entertainment segment, Linear Networks revenue declined by 7% year over year to $2.62 billion, Direct-to-Consumer revenue climbed 9% year over year to $6.07 billion, and Content Sales/Licensing and Other revenue grew by 34% year over year to $2.18 billion.
The combined DTC streaming businesses improved their profitability with an operating income of $293 million on revenue of $6.07 billion (up by 9% year over year).
Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King&nbsp;helped drive $312 million in operating income at Content Sales/Licensing and Other in the quarter.
The average revenue per user for domestic Disney+ customers increased from $7.20 during the September 28 quarter to $7.55 due to a higher mix of customers on its cheaper, ad-supported tier.&nbsp;
The consolidated operating income grew 31% year over year to $5.06 billion, led by the Entertainment segment&#8217;s $1.70 billion, the Sports segment&#8217;s $247 million, and the Experiences segment&#8217;s $3.11 billion.
Disney generated a quarterly operating cash flow of $3.21 billion (up 47% year over year) and a free cash flow of $739 million (down 17% year over year).
CEO Robert A. Iger flagged outstanding box office performance from its studios, which had the top three movies of 2024, profitability boost of its Entertainment DTC streaming businesses, and the addition of ESPN tile on Disney+.
Outlook:&nbsp;For fiscal 2025, Disney reiterated <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/41971559/disneys-q4-boosted-by-streaming-gains-strong-box-office-and-solid-parks-performance" rel="noreferrer noopener">high-single-digit</a> growth in adjusted earnings per share (EPS) compared to 2024 versus a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $5.41</a>.
The company aims to generate around $15 billion in operating cash flow.
It expects double-digit growth in operating income for the Entertainment segment in fiscal 2025, with an increase in DTC operating income of around $875 million.
Disney expects its Experience segment to see operating income growth of 6%-8% in fiscal 2025.
The company expects its Sports segment to grow 13% in fiscal 2025.

Geoffrey Kendrick, Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered on Wednesday predicted that Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) could reach $500,000 before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/02/43492011/exclusive-crypto-czar-charm-offensive-welcomed-but-experts-wonder-will-us-policy-deliver">end of Donald Trump's term</a>.
What Happened: Kendrick attributes this forecast to two key factors: improved investor access to Bitcoin under the current administration and a gradual decline in volatility due to maturing market infrastructure.
"Access is improving under the Trump administration. Institutional inflows will continue to gather pace," Kendrick wrote, highlighting the impact of spot Bitcoin ETFs and expanding options markets. 
"This combination—more access, lower vol—is enough to drive Bitcoin to $500,000 before Trump leaves office,&#8221; he added.
Meanwhile, institutional inflows into <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/specialty-etfs/25/01/43249653/nasdaqs-bitcoin-etf-shift-could-strengthen-blackrocks-market-position">Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs</a> further underline the growing adoption of digital assets.
On Feb. 4, Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded a net inflow of $341 million, with BlackRock's (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IBIT#NASDAQ">IBIT</a>) ETF alone receiving $249 million.

The ADP National Employment Report, released Wednesday by Automatic Data Processing Inc., highlighted continued resilience in the private labor market ahead of Friday's highly anticipated non-farm payrolls report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Economists expect the government report to show a slowdown in hiring, with forecasts predicting a decline from December's 256,000 to 170,000 new jobs.
Nela Richardson, ADP&#8217;s chief economist, said: &#8220;We had a strong start to 2025 but it masked a dichotomy in the labor market. Consumer-facing industries drove hiring, while job growth was weaker in business services and production.&#8221;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Where Did Jobs Grow in January?</h3>
The latest data revealed a divergence in job creation, with gains concentrated in service-providing industries, while goods-producing sectors continued to lag.
Goods-producing industries shed 6,000 jobs in January, driven by a 13,000 payroll reduction in manufacturing. This marked the fourth consecutive month of job losses in the sector.
Service-providing industries, on the other hand, added 190,000 positions. Trade, transportation, and utilities led the way with 56,000 new jobs, while leisure and hospitality followed closely, adding 54,000 positions.
December&#8217;s private employment growth was also revised upward to 184,000, exceeding the consensus estimate of 150,000 tracked by TradingEconomics.
The ADP report signaled ongoing moderation in wage growth. Pay increases for job stayers in January edged up 4.7% year-over-year, while job changers saw salary gains of 6.8%, down from 7.1% in December.
These figures suggest that while the labor market remains strong, wage pressures are easing—a key factor for the Federal Reserve as it assesses the timing of potential interest rate cuts in 2025.
