<h3 class="wp-block-heading">AI Protections At The Core Of SAG-AFTRA Strike</h3>
The strike&#8217;s primary catalyst is the inability to reach a consensus on AI protections. SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher <a href="https://www.sagaftra.org/sag-aftra-members-who-work-video-games-go-strike">stated</a>: "We're not going to consent to a contract that allows companies to abuse AI to the detriment of our members. When these companies get serious about offering an agreement our members can live — and work — with, we will be here, ready to negotiate."
In contrast, Audrey Cooling, a spokesperson for the video game producers, <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/25/24206357/video-game-performer-strike-sag-aftra">told</a> The Verge: "We are disappointed the union has chosen to walk away when we are so close to a deal, and we remain prepared to resume negotiations. We have already found common ground on 24 out of 25 proposals, including historic wage increases and additional safety provisions.&#8221;

And added: &#8220;Our offer is directly responsive to SAG-AFTRA's concerns and extends meaningful AI protections that include requiring consent and fair compensation to all performers working under the IMA. These terms are among the strongest in the entertainment industry."
Meanwhile, the strike encompasses a wide range of activities prohibited under SAG-AFTRA&#8217;s directive, including singing, acting, dancing, performing motion capture, rehearsals, and auditions.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Broad Impact Of The Video Game Strike</h3>
The seeds of this strike were sown last September when SAG-AFTRA members voted to authorize a strike, coinciding with the waning of Hollywood actors and writers strikes. 
A major sticking point has been the use of AI, with fears that the technology could be utilized to replace human workers. Despite the strike, SAG-AFTRA has made some headway in addressing AI concerns, having signed an agreement with AI voice company Replica Studios. 
This deal allows SAG-AFTRA members to work exclusively with Replica to create digital replications of their voices, with clear agreements on the length of use and compensation.

SAG-AFTRA Calls Video Game Strike Over AI Concerns

Red Light Holland Corp. (CSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TRIP#CSE">TRIP</a>) (OTCQB:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TRUFF#OTCQB">TRUFF</a>) reported its financial <a href="https://www.sedarplus.ca/csa-party/records/document.html?id=1b022e6b98b149b86e9acd19b5ff939f110747324ab95e50e0bdace32d7f7712" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">results</a> Monday for the year ended March 31, 2024, revealing annual revenue of CA$4.7 million ($3.4 million), up by 20.3% from CA$3.9 million in the prior year.
The Ontario-based producer of psilocybin truffles, functional mushrooms and mushroom home-grow kits went public with zero sales in May 2020. Since then until March 31, 2024, Red Light achieved CA$11.0 million in sales.
&#8220;The entire team at Red Light Holland is proud of our 2024 audited year-end results, as we continue to grow our revenues," Todd Shapiro, Red Light Holland CEO and director, said in a statement. "We remain strategically focused on the long game, while other companies in our space continue to burn cash at a frightening rate, have small runways, or march towards the eve of insolvency as the overall sector, to be frank, has been unimpressive. What Happened: Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited, known as GAMECO, is an aircraft maintenance company in China&#8217;s Guangzhou district. 
The partnership between XPeng Aeroht and GAMECO is aimed at ensuring an after-sales service system for flying cars, thereby enhancing the performance and safety of low-altitude air travel. 
The collaboration will cover maintenance, component manufacturing, engineering services, training, and more, XPeng Aeroht said.

The company recorded €400 million ($433 million) more than it should have for the value of an asset owned by the Chinese firm, the person said, asking not to be named discussing private information. The adjustment, set to be announced as soon as Tuesday, will not affect Grifols' profit and loss statement, the person said.

AUSTIN, Texas, July 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cassava Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SAVA#NASDAQ">SAVA</a>) today announced that the Company will extend by up to an additional 36 months each of the open-label extension trials in its ongoing Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical programs. These amendments to the protocols will allow patients who have previously participated in a randomized trial of simufilam in Alzheimer's disease, if they desire, to continue open-label treatment with simufilam. This expansion of the open-label extension trials offers a bridge for any gap between patients ending treatment in a clinical trial and the Company reporting to regulatory authorities the results of the ongoing, randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 3 trials. The open-label extension can continue for up to 36 months or until a new drug application for simufilam has been reviewed by FDA.
