Ormat Technologies Inc. The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SCHW#NYSE">SCHW</a>) reported upbeat fourth-quarter results on Tuesday.
Revenue rose 20% year over year to $5.33 billion, beating the consensus of $5.19 billion.
Net interest revenue rose 19% Y/Y to $2.531 billion in the fourth quarter. Clients' daily average trades totaled 6.312 million, up 22% Y/Y.
Adjusted net income rose 44% Y/Y to $1.97 billion. Adjusted EPS increased 49% to $1.01, beating the consensus of $0.91.
Total client assets rose 19% Y/Y to $10.10trillion. The company's active brokerage accounts reached 36.5 million in the quarter.
Mike Verdeschi, CFO, said, "Client transactional sweep cash grew by $35 billion versus 3Q24, including a $25 billion increase in December due to typical year-end seasonality. This build helped us further reduce Bank Supplemental Funding by $14.9 billion to $49.9 billion – down ~50% from peak levels."
Charles Schwab shares gained 5.9% to close at $80.93 on Tuesday.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tech Stocks In Focus</h3>
On CNBC's &#8220;Mad Money Lightning Round,&#8221; Jim Cramer said Rigetti Computing, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RGTI#NASDAQ">RGTI</a>) is a quantum stock. &#8220;If you want to participate in a short squeeze, this is better <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/RGTI">than most,&#8221; he added</a>.
Shares of quantum stocks, including Rigetti Computing, rose sharply on Tuesday amid strength in tech and AI stocks as investors assessed the new administration&#8217;s policies and AI efforts.
Cramer recommended buying ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>), adding that it is a &#8220;remarkably great&#8221; company.
Supporting his view, Wells Fargo analyst Joseph Quatrochi, on Jan. 13, maintained ASML with an Overweight and raised the price target from $790 to $860.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>) is a &#8220;great&#8221; company, Cramer said. &#8220;I do think that there's a lot of people who believe that they will not be able to deliver on this quarter. I, therefore, am reluctant to get in ahead of the quarter.&#8221;
AMD will report fiscal fourth quarter and full year 2024 financial results after the closing bell on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings at $1.09 per share, up from 77 cents per share in the year-ago period.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hold On To This Stock</h3>
The &#8220;Mad Money&#8221; host recommended to hold on to Dow Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DOW#NYSE">DOW</a>). &#8220;I don't want to sell it here, we might be at some sort of trough at this very moment in Dow pricing,&#8221; he added.
Recently, on Jan. 13, Morgan Stanley analyst Vincent Andrews also maintained Dow with an Equal-Weight rating and cut the price target from $59 to $46.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Discusses His View On Health Care Stocks</h3>
Cramer said Elanco Animal Health Incorporated (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ELAN#NYSE">ELAN</a>) is not his favorite and considers Chewy (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CHWY#NYSE">CHWY</a>) as the better bet for this group.
Adding support to Cramer's view, Stifel analyst Jonathan Block, on Jan. 7, lowered the price target on the stock from $20 to $18.
Clover Health Investments, Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CLOV#NASDAQ">CLOV</a>) is losing a lot of money and is &#8220;just a total spec,&#8221; Cramer said.
On Nov. 6, Clover Health Investments reported worse-than-expected third-quarter revenue results.

Prominent Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) critic Peter Schiff reignited debates on the crypto king&#8217;s legitimacy by labeling it a meme coin <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/43123173/3-reasons-why-bitcoin-could-hit-122000-soon-10x-research">devoid of intrinsic value</a>.
What Happened: Schiff on Tuesday on X <a href="https://x.com/PeterSchiff/status/1881783737584906551">responded</a> to Anthony Pompliano's explanation of meme coins, stating that there's little to distinguish Bitcoin from newer meme assets like TRUMP.
"It's a fine line to walk when explaining a meme coin without exposing the same fraud about Bitcoin," he added. He <a href="https://x.com/PeterSchiff/status/1881770557223682309">stated</a>, "Bitcoin is a meme coin."
Schiff's post sparked debate across Crypto Twitter, with some comparing Bitcoin to gold. 
Bitcoin podcast host Walker argued, "The meme is perfected sound money that is superior to gold" and claimed Bitcoin is gradually <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/42935597/mark-cuban-advocates-bitcoin-over-gold-during-economic-turmoil-i-think-it-has-more-value-than-gold">demonetizing gold</a>.
CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju took it further, calling gold a "meme asset," with 90% of its valuation stemming from narrative belief. 
He concluded, "Goldbugs are no different from Bitcoin maxis."
Schiff dismissed the comparisons, reiterating that gold's value is rooted in tangible properties, unlike Bitcoin, which he called &#8220;fool&#8217;s gold.&#8221;
Schiff's detractors reminded him of past predictions, including his claim that Bitcoin would never reach $100,000, and asked what he would say if it hit $1 million. 
One trader quipped, "Peter Schiff wouldn't exist without Bitcoin," to which Schiff retorted that he was well-known before Bitcoin.

While he insists he doesn't hate Bitcoin, he cautioned that millions might lose more than they can afford.
In December 2024, Schiff argued <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/12/42392610/peter-schiff-bitcoin-is-a-threat-to-the-us-and-public-enemy-number-one">Bitcoin could become a "public enemy"</a> if the government squandered taxpayer money on it, describing it as the riskiest asset.

Oracle's AI Moonshot: Why Project Stargate Could Propel ORCL Stock Higher

On CNBC's &#8220;<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2025/01/21/final-trades-disney-affiliated-managers-unitedhealth-and-block.html">Halftime Report Final Trades</a>,&#8221; Joseph M. In recent news, on Jan. 8, Walt Disney said that its streaming platforms have reached another milestone. The company&#8217;s streaming platforms, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, have amassed approximately 157 million monthly active users globally who engage with ad-supported content.
In the healthcare sector, Stephanie Link of Hightower said she likes UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UNH#NYSE">UNH</a>) at 17 times earnings and long-term average is 24 times. &#8220;I like the discount,&#8221; she added.
In recent earnings news, UnitedHealth Group, last week, reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings and reaffirmed 2025 guidance. The company reported adjusted EPS of $6.81, up from $6.16 a year ago, beating the consensus of $6.72.
Rounding out the trades, Brian Belski of BMO Capital Markets picked Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMG#NYSE">AMG</a>), a financial stock.
Supporting his view, Deutsche Bank analyst Brian Bedell, on Nov. 11, maintained Affiliated Managers Group with a Buy rating and raised the price target from $204 to $208.

Netflix, TSMC Traders Can Now Utilize Direxion's Leveraged ETFs For Bold Market Moves

Could one of the fastest video game characters speed into the metaverse and NFT market? Here&rsquo;s what Sega Sammy Holdings Inc (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SGAMY#OTC">SGAMY</a>) is planning for Sonic the Hedgehog and other characters as it grows the metaverse.

What Happened: Sega is <a href="https://decrypt.co/97681/sega-lays-groundwork-for-metaverse-with-super-game-nft-plan">launching </a>a five-year plan called &ldquo;Super Game&rdquo; that will bring its new titles &quot;beyond the traditional framework of games.&quot;

Sega will launch AAA titles while alco incorporating Web3 elements that could include non-fungible tokens.

&ldquo;It is a natural extension for the future of gaming that it will expand to involve new areas such as cloud gaming and NFTs,&rdquo; Sega Producer Masayoshi Kikuchi said.

Kikuchi also hinted that part of the &ldquo;Super Game&rdquo; plan could lead to Sega launching its own metaverse initiative.

Several titles are being developed for the &ldquo;Super Game&rdquo; plan, and many will be interactive titles.

For a title to be &ldquo;Super Game&rdquo; material, it has to meet four criteria, according to Kikuchi:

	<li>Releases simultaneously worldwide</li>
	<li>Triple A title (one of most popular in the world)</li>

Sega announced plans to launch NFTs in April 2021 based on a collaboration with blockchain developer double jump.tokyo.

In January 2022, Sega also registered for the trademark &ldquo;Sega NFT,&rdquo; signaling its potential entry in the growing space.

The box office success, new streaming show and all-around successful brand recognition of Sonic could make him a good first entry in the NFT space by the company.

Sega exploring the NFT space follows several other large video game companies. Ubisoft Entertainment (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBSFY#OTC">UBSFY</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/12/24562764/ubisoft-launching-in-game-nfts-what-gamers-and-investors-should-know">announced </a>plans last year to bring in-game NFTs. The company also announced a further push into NFTs and the metaverse through a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/02/25509743/ubisoft-bringing-rabbids-to-sandbox-continuing-nftmetaverse-push-while-other-gaming-compan">partnership </a>with its Rabbids brand and The Sandbox (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sand/usd">SAND</a>).

SGAMY Price Action: Sega Sammy Holdings stock closed at $18.25 Thursday, up 1.39%&nbsp;versus a 52-week range of $2.96 to $4.79, <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/register/?gspk=bHVrZWphY29iaTUzNDg&amp;gsxid=saV5vuEykjbf&amp;ref=lukejacobi5348">according to Benzinga Pro</a>.&nbsp;

The communication services sector, which officially launched last September, is cementing its status as <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/19/01/13027805/communication-services-continues-rapid-growth-pace">an important piece </a>of broad market indexes such as the S&amp;P 500.

Communication services, which combines old guard telecommunications stocks with companies that previously resided in the consumer discretionary and technology sectors, <a href="https://us.spdrs.com/en/etf/spdr-sp-500-etf-SPY">represented 10.18 percent</a> of the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) as of Jan. 24. That makes communication services the S&amp;P 500&#39;s fourth-largest sector weight.

<h3>What Happened</h3>

The Communication Services Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/XLC#NYSE">XLC</a>) is the oldest and largest exchange traded fund&nbsp;dedicated to the sector. XLC launched last June, meaning it was tested during the bear market in the fourth quarter. Data indicate the fund was less bad than some competing sector funds during that bear market.

&ldquo;Through Dec. 24, 2018, the<a href="https://us.spindices.com/indices/equity/sp-500-information-technology-sector">&nbsp;S&amp;P 500 Information Technology</a> lost 23.1%, the <a href="https://us.spindices.com/indices/equity/sp-500-consumer-discretionary-sector">S&amp;P 500 Consumer Discretionary</a> lost 22.0% and&nbsp;the <a href="https://us.spindices.com/indices/equity/sp-500-communication-services-sector">S&amp;P 500 Communication Services</a> lost 17.8%,&rdquo; said S&amp;P Dow Jones Indices Managing Director Jodie Gunzberg <a href="http://www.indexologyblog.com/2019/01/24/communication-services-is-getting-louder/">in a recent note.</a> &ldquo;Of the three sectors, only the communication services sector avoided a bear market and outperformed the S&amp;P 500.&rdquo;

<h3>Why It&#39;s Important</h3>

Knowing that communication services is an important sector weight in the S&amp;P 500 is one thing. Knowing what stocks drive XLC and rival ETFs is important as well. With $3.85 billion in assets under management, XLC is quickly becoming one of the ETF bellwethers for beloved growth stocks such as Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>), Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/FB#NASDAQ">FB</a>) and Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/NFXL#NASDAQ">NFXL</a>). Combined, those stocks represent about 45 percent of XLC&#39;s roster.

The communication services sector has also been steady during the broader market&#39;s rebound off the December lows.

&ldquo;While the rebound has not been big enough to recoup all the losses in these sectors, overall the communication services held up best from Sep. 24, 2018 &ndash; Jan. 23, 2019,&rdquo; said Gunzberg. &ldquo;Over the period, the S&amp;P 500 Communication Services lost 7.5% as compared to the S&amp;P 500 Information Technology that lost 14.0% and the&nbsp; S&amp;P 500 Consumer Discretionary that lost 10.1%.&rdquo;

With investors <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/19/01/13027805/communication-services-continues-rapid-growth-pace">pouring into XLC</a>, the fund is up about 8 percent to start 2019.

<h3>What&#39;s Next</h3>

For now, communication services appears firm in its status as a top-five sector weight in the S&amp;P 500. A modest decline could take the group to the fifth spot, but the sector&#39;s market value would need to jump more than 30 percent and be accompanied by declines in the financial services sector to see communication services jump to the third spot in the S&amp;P 500.
