Honda Motor Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HMC#NYSE">HMC</a>) will reduce its production of gasoline vehicles in China by 19% starting this October, marking a strategic shift <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/electric-vehicles">toward electric vehicles</a>.
The Japanese automaker will cease operations of one production line at its joint venture Dongfeng Honda, which has an annual capacity of 240,000 units, beginning in November. 
Additionally, in October, GAC Honda, another of its facilities with a capacity of 50,000 units annually, will be completely shut down. 
These changes are part of Honda's effort to accelerate the &#8220;steady shift&#8221; to EVs, reported <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-07-25/honda-to-cut-gas-car-production-in-china-by-19-from-october?srnd=phx-industries-consumer&amp;sref=TBDibEcD">Bloomberg</a>.
Honda&#8217;s production capacity in China, currently around 1.5 million units, will see a reduction of 19% due to these measures.
Previously, Nikkei reported that Honda intended to reduce gas-powered vehicle production capacity in China by about one-third.

Japanese automakers, including Honda, have been facing difficulties in China due to their comparatively weak electric car lineup and stiff competition from domestic companies like BYD Company (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BYDDY#OTC">BYDDY</a>) and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), whose vehicles are manufactured at Tesla&#8217;s Shanghai factory.
In a related move, Nippon Steel Corp (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NISTF#OTC">NISTF</a>) announced earlier this week that it would exit a joint venture in China, attributing the decision to declining sales among its major clients, the Japanese automakers, who are losing market share in the region&#8217;s largest economy.
The Dongfeng Honda facility, which currently produces models such as the Civic and Life, will transition to producing auto parts and conducting research. 
These models will be manufactured at another plant within China. Meanwhile, the GAC Honda plant, responsible for the Accord plug-in hybrid, will be repurposed as a warehouse and for other uses.

Age is expected to be a topic in the book with Scaramucci saying that him and Saylor are the last part of the Baby Boomers and they became part of this "young person's asset class." The book will look at how they began investing in Bitcoin.
Scaramucci called the book and storyline a "rite of passage."
"This is where the future is."
Scaramucci said with Bitcoin there will be a future world with permissionless transactions and lower costs for financial transactions.
"Let's just get it regulated fairly."
The book is available for pre-order on Amazon and has a listed release date of Dec. 5.
"Scaramucci delivers a comprehensive guide to understand disruption in the financial industry as a result of emergence and increasing prominence of digital asset technology," the book description reads.
The book will cover Bitcoin as digital gold, hashes, blockchains, other cryptocurrencies, and mining among the topics. The new book is aimed at appealing to everyone from hedge fund managers to new retail investors. &nbsp;

The SkyBridge Capital founder has appeared on several Benzinga shows in recent months where he has covered a range of topics, including Bitcoin.
On Benzinga's "PreMarketPrep" in May, Scaramucci predicted Bitcoin could hit $150,000. The investor said he was more bullish on Bitcoin at $60,000 than he was when the cryptocurrency traded at $30,000 last year after the approval of Bitcoin ETFs.
"You only have 4.8% of the globe in Bitcoin," Scaramucci said. "That's akin to Web 1 in 1999, and I would just tell you to look at the Web 1 volatility of stocks like Amazon, eBay, etcetera back in 1999."

In the company conference call, AbbVie announced it is discontinuing further development of the experimental Alzheimer&#8217;s drug ABBV-916 as a standalone antibody.
Price Action:&nbsp;ABBV stock is down 5.14% at $185.26 at the last check on Thursday.
