The Fund is an actively managed exchange-traded fund (ETF) that seeks current income while maintaining the opportunity for exposure to the share price (i.e., the price returns) of the common stock of Nvidia Corporation (NVDA), subject to a limit on potential investment gains. The Fund will seek to employ its investment strategy as it relates to NVDA regardless of whether there are periods adverse market, economic, or other conditions and will not seek to take temporary defensive positions during such periods. As further described below, the Fund uses a synthetic covered call strategy to provide income and exposure to the share price returns of NVDA, subject to a limit on potential investment gains as a result of the nature of the options strategy it employs.

As Thanksgiving approaches, the Last Prisoner Project (LPP) called on President Biden to fulfill his promise that "no one should be in jail for marijuana" by granting clemency to individuals still incarcerated for nonviolent cannabis offenses.
The non-profit cannabis justice reform organization reminded that there's only two months remaining in the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/09/40805469/biden-faces-pressure-to-release-thousands-imprisoned-for-federal-cannabis-convictions">#Countdown4Clemency campaign</a>, and that an impending change in administration highlights the urgency for President to take action.
LPP stressed that Biden has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/09/40885403/biden-has-not-freed-anyone-in-prison-for-cannabis-crime-last-prisoner-project-urges-president-to">not released a single person</a> still incarcerated for cannabis through commutation. While his <a href="Biden Pardons Thousands Convicted Of Cannabis Possession, Calls On Governors To Do The Same">categorical pardons</a> provided record relief to thousands of people with cannabis possession convictions, this move alone does not address the estimated 3,000 people still serving time in federal prisons for cannabis offenses.
Ahead of the annual presidential tradition of pardoning turkeys, LPP is asking President Biden to #PardonPeopleNotPoultry and end the continued incarceration of thousands for cannabis-related offenses that are now legal in many states.
A YouGov poll released in August indicated that cannabis pardons was one of the most popular policies of Biden's entire administration. Meanwhile, polls show that 84% of registered voters favor releasing people still in prison when their convictions are no longer considered crimes, like cannabis-related offenses.

At the state level, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly was the first to kick off the holiday clemency season granting clemency last week to LPP constituent Deshaun T. Durham, a 24-year-old who was sentenced to 92 months for a first-time cannabis offense, setting a powerful precedent for others to follow. Other recent actions by state leaders like Massachusetts Governor <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/04/38101290/gov-healeys-mega-pardon-for-cannabis-possession-unanimously-approved-by-council">Maura Healey</a> and Maryland Governor Wes Moore, who used LPP's #PenToRightHistory <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39357557/maryland-gov-to-pardon-175k-low-level-cannabis-convictions-in-the-nations-most-far-reaching-and-">to pardon over 175,000 individuals</a> for cannabis-related charges, highlight the growing momentum for cannabis clemency.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More Still Behind Bars</h2>
Yet, for other Marylanders like Jonathan Wall, incarcerated on an 8-year federal cannabis charge, can only get that type of clemency relief from the president. Then, there's Ricardo Ashmeade, who is serving a 22-year sentence due to the three-strikes law championed by then-Senator Biden. His daughter, Richeda Ashmeade, has been separated from her father for 16 years. In addition to Ricardo, individuals like Edwin Rubis, who is serving a 40-year sentence for a cannabis-related offense, and David Lopez, who has faced years behind bars for court errors on his cannabis charges, exemplify the urgent need for clemency.

Along with its 420 Unity Coalition partners, LPP will hold a press conference in Washington D.C. next week to encourage people to call President Biden to urge him to reunite these families before the holidays and send letters to the White House to grant cannabis clemency before the end of his term.

French biotech company Aelis Farma, specializing in the treatment of brain disorders announced positive results Monday from a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/22/11/29769327/aelis-farmas-drug-candidate-for-the-treatment-of-cognitive-disorders-authorized-for-the-first-tr">Phase 1/2 trial of its drug candidate AEF0217</a> in young adults with Down syndrome. The study, conducted in Spain, assessed the safety, tolerability and potential efficacy of AEF0217, a selective CB1 receptor inhibitor targeting cognitive and behavioral impairments.
The study successfully met its safety (primary), pharmacokinetics (secondary) and efficacy (secondary and exploratory) objectives. AEF0217 was well tolerated and no safety concerns were observed. The drug improved adaptive behavior in areas such as communication, daily living skills and socialization.
"The promising and impressive results of this study generate a real hope to develop an efficacious and safe treatment for the cognitive disabilities of people with Down syndrome," stated Prof. Rafael de la Torre Fornell, the trial's principal investigator. "Particularly striking are the efficacy data, which addresses crucial domains of adaptation, such as expression and writing abilities as well as certain daily living skills and societal interactions. These types of effects, especially because obtained after only four weeks of treatment, are certainly a first in the field of Down syndrome and represent a major step towards the development of a treatment that could significantly improve the autonomy and adaptation of people with Down syndrome. I would like to take this occasion to also send my warmest thanks to the participants, their families and family associations who supported this innovative project and helped us to complete this pioneering clinical trial."
It is noteworthy that AEF0217 seemed to induce larger improvements in participants with the greater impairments before starting the treatment.
Moreover, adaptive behavior and cognition were assessed after just four weeks of treatment, whereas experts generally believe several months are needed to modify these functions in neurodevelopmental disabilities.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Paving The Way For Treating Other Cognitive Disorders</h2>
Pier Vincenzo Piazza, CEO of Aelis Farma, concluded, "We see this accomplishment as a milestone in the development of a promising therapy that could significantly improve the autonomy and quality of life of people with Down syndrome. It is also, more generally, the first evidence of the positive impact of AEF0217 on cognition, which could pave the way for the treatment of other cognitive disorders."
Piazza also highlighted that these results offer a supplementary validation of the safety of the new pharmacological class developed by the company &#8211; Signaling Specific inhibitors of the CB1 receptor (CB1-Ssi). "We believe that the CB1-SSi represent a major innovation in pharmacology that will allow to generate inhibitors not only efficacious but also safe and well tolerated, opening the way to new treatments of conditions without treatment today," he concluded.
Following these results, Aelis Farma plans a Phase 2 international study in 2025 to further evaluate its efficacy and adaptative behavior improvements.
The clinical development of AEF0217, the phase 1 program in healthy volunteers, the phase 1/2 just completed and the next phase 2 in people with Down syndrome are part of the European H2020 ICOD project (Improving COgnition in Down syndrome, Grant Agreement ID 899986). The ICOD project received €6 million ($6.33 million) of fundings from the European Commission and involves partners in Spain, France and Italy.
