Maye also clarified that during her marriage, the family improved their circumstances as Errol's career advanced. "We didn't go out for dinner nor to the movies. As my former husband was promoted at the engineering firm, we upgraded our lifestyle. The $518 billion in wealth gained would rank 16th among publicly traded companies and is higher than the valuations of many well-known companies including Mastercard, ExxonMobil, Oracle and UnitedHealth.

Why It's Important: The 2024 top 10 list contained the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/24/01/36454392/worlds-top-10-richest-people-gained-more-wealth-in-2023-than-walmarts-total-value-how-elon-musk"> same 10 people</a> at the start and end of the year, with several positions changed. Arnault, who started the year second, fell to fifth place and was the only person in the top 10 to lose wealth during the year. Zuckerberg and Ellison had big moves gaining three positions and four positions respectively.
Musk was the biggest gainer with a massive $203 billion added to his wealth thanks to the soaring price of Tesla stock after the 2024 presidential election and a new valuation for SpaceX.
Ranking second for wealth added was Zuckerberg with $79.2 billion added as Meta Platforms stock gaining over 60% in 2024.
The 10 richest people weren't the only ones who gained in 2024 with 19 of the top 25 richest people all adding to their wealth.
Michael Dell, who ranked 11th to end the year, added $45.2 billion to his wealth to a new total of $124 billion.
Jensen Huang ended the year ranked 12th at $114 billion, adding $70.3 billion to his wealth. This was the third highest gain in 2024 and came as NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) was the third highest gaining S&amp;P 500 stock in 2024 with a gain of 171.2%.
Among the world's 30 wealthiest individuals, only seven experienced a decrease in their wealth in 2024. Similarly, within the top 50 richest people globally, 15 witnessed a decline in their wealth last year.
While the top 10 got richer, there was a larger number of decliners in the top 30 and top 50 for 2024 compared to 2023.
Other big decliners were Carlos Slim ranked 18th who saw his wealth decline $25.9 billion and Francoise Bettencourt Meyers ranked 20th who saw her wealth decline by $25.2 billion.
One name that will be interesting to watch in 2025 is Jeff Yass, who ranks 29th at $45.9 billion. Yass <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42654769/tiktok-ban-under-trump-president-elect-wants-to-keep-months-after-pelosi-said-follow-the-money">owns 15% of </a>TikTok parent ByteDance and is a Donald Trump supporter. The company launched the <a target="_blank" href="https://newsroom.spotify.com/2025-01-02/the-spotify-partner-program-is-here-offering-new-ways-for-creators-to-monetize-in-the-us-uk-canada-and-australia/" rel="noreferrer noopener">Spotify Partner Program</a>.
This new monetization initiative is available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia and aims to help creators expand their audiences and generate sustainable revenue streams.
The program offers creators access to multiple revenue opportunities, including audience-driven payouts from Spotify Premium video engagement and monetization through ads on Spotify Free and other podcast platforms.
The dual revenue model allows creators more control over their earnings while enhancing the listener experience.
Premium users can enjoy an uninterrupted viewing experience with no third-party ads in video podcasts, though creators&#8217; baked-in sponsorships remain in episodes.
Since its announcement on November 13, 2024, over 65% of eligible shows and networks have enrolled in the program.

Allstate Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ALL#NYSE">ALL</a>) and security officials did not specify what the new measures entail. Wednesday&#8217;s postponement was a first in the 91-year history of the Sugar Bowl; officials said &#8220;it was the prudent move.&#8221; The organization said they made the decision &#8220;in coordination with federal, state, and local authorities as well as the two universities, Caesars Superdome and ESPN.&#8221;
"Public safety is paramount," Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley said at a media briefing alongside federal, state and local officials, including Louisiana Gov. Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, the New York Post and Gimme Shelter report that penthouses like Robbins' have been selling for $28 million. Robbins' Miami Waldorf-Astoria Residences unit will not be his first or last Florida real estate investment. Gimme Shelter also claims Robbins owns an estate in Manalapan, which is in Palm Beach County.

Robbins is also contracted to buy office space at the Waldorf-Astoria residences for his Robbins-Gupta Holdings business. His partner in that venture, Ajay Gupta, is also rumored to be purchasing a residence at the Waldorf in Miami. That unit is rumored to be a penthouse valued in the $28 million range, meaning Gupta and Robbins will only have a short elevator ride to work.

Motivated Buyer-Self Help Guru Tony Robbins Closes Deal For Multi-Million Dollar Penthouse In Miami's Newest Luxury Skyscraper

Constellation Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CEG#NASDAQ">CEG</a>) shares are trading higher on Thursday after the company disclosed that it secured over $1 billion in contracts from the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/b42767710/constellation-wins-record-setting-federal-government-clean-nuclear-energy-procurement" rel="noreferrer noopener">U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)</a>.
These contracts involve supplying power to more than 13 federal agencies and implementing energy savings and conservation initiatives at five GSA-owned facilities in the National Capital Region.
In particular, Constellation has secured a 10-year contract valued at $840 million, marking the largest agreement in GSA&#8217;s history.
Beginning in 2025, the company will provide more than 1 million megawatt hours of electricity annually, with a portion of the energy generated from plant capacity enhancements, referred to as &#8220;uprates,&#8221; funded by Constellation.
Constellation will supply energy to multiple federal agencies, including the GSA, Social Security Administration, and Department of Veterans Affairs, across Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
Apart from this, the company also secured a $172 million contract to enhance energy efficiency at five GSA-owned facilities in the National Capital Region through LED lighting, HVAC upgrades, and transitioning four Washington, DC, buildings from steam to electric heating.
Construction begins this month, lasting 42 months, with Constellation providing maintenance and training to ensure long-term energy efficiency and cost savings.
Joe Dominguez, Constellation President and CEO said &#8220;Under this agreement, the United States government joins Microsoft and other entities to support continued investment in reliable nuclear energy that will allow Constellation to relicense and extend the lives of these critical assets.&#8221;
&#8221;In combination with the Crane restart announced previously, Constellation and its partners will add approximately 1,100 MWs of 24/7 clean energy by 2028, enough energy to power over one million homes.&#8221;

As the first trading month of the year kicks off, history suggests investors could be in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets">for a bullish ride. </a>
January has historically been a positive month for the S&amp;P 500, while one streaming giant has repeatedly delivered astonishing gains. 
Could this January follow suit? Let's break down the numbers.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">S&amp;P 500: A New Year's Tradition Of Gains</h1>
The S&amp;P 500 index — tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) — has a long history of positive performance in January, chalking up gains in 58 of the past 97 years and marking a solid win rate of about 60%.
According to Seasonax data, the index boasts an average return of 1.12% and a median return of 1.62% in the first month of the year.
The best January on record came in 1988, when the index skyrocketed 12.17%, while the worst January hit during the Great Recession in 2009, with a sharp loss of -11.41%. 
Despite occasional setbacks, the odds have historically tilted in favor of gains as the calendar turns to the new year.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Netflix's January Blockbuster: The Stock To Watch This Month</h1>
While the S&amp;P 500 delivers steady gains, Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>) has a tendency to steal the spotlight in January. Over the past 20 years, the streaming giant has delivered positive returns in 15 out of 20 Januaries, boasting an average return of 12.64% and a median return of 13.47%.
The trigger for this stellar performance? Its fourth-quarter earnings release, typically announced in the second half of January. Netflix's fourt-quarter numbers often set the tone for the stock, and the reaction is anything but subtle.
In January 2024, shares of Netflix surged by 10.7% following the release of its fourth-quarter earnings, continuing a pattern seen in previous years. Back in 2023, the stock jumped 8.46% after earnings, while in 2021, the post-earnings rally was even more dramatic, with Netflix soaring by a whopping 16.85%.
Netflix&#8217;s best January on record came in 2013 when the stock soared by nearly 80%. On the other hand, the company's worst January occurred in 2022, when Netflix shares plummeted by -28.5%.
For January 2025, the company will report its fourth-quarter 2024 earnings on Jan. 21.
