SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPWR#NASDAQ">SPWR</a>) shares fell Thursday following the company&#8217;s announcement of a significant operational pause and<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/07/39836738/leslies-issues-preliminary-financial-results-joins-beyond-meat-dominos-and-other-big-stocks-moving-l"> a subsequent analyst downgrade.</a>
What To Know: SunPower informed clients it is halting new product shipments and deactivating lease and power purchase agreements from its sales platform. 
This operational halt includes no more countersigning new agreements and support for installation services for shipments in transit or already delivered. The company cited its efforts to address financial challenges as the reason for these pauses, according to Reuters.
Moreover, GLJ Research analyst Gordon Johnson downgraded SunPower to a &#8220;Sell&#8221; and slashed the price target from $1.61 to $0.
What Else: SunPower has been grappling with several issues over the past quarters. The company received a subpoena from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in February concerning its accounting practices. 
In the same month, its CEO left the company and in June, its auditor Ernst &amp; Young resigned. Additionally, in April, SunPower announced plans to reduce its workforce and eliminate most of its direct sales channels as part of a restructuring plan aimed at cutting costs.
SunPower's statement to Reuters acknowledged the financial difficulties, stating, &#8220;We continue to dedicate our attention to address our financial position and are actively working to navigate our current challenges.&#8221;

Meta Platforms Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) Instagram has initiated a pilot program in collaboration with the Center for Open Science (COS), permitting selected researchers to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/instagram">access its data. </a>
This move aims to investigate the potential impact of social media on the mental well-being of teens and young adults.

Meta says that the data shared will encompass details like account usage patterns and settings, but will not include post contents, comments, or messages.
COS will independently select up to seven research proposals focusing on various aspects of teen mental health. Researchers are required to recruit participants directly and obtain parental consent.
Curtiss Cobb, Meta's vice president of research, stated: "Parents, policymakers, academics, and technology companies are grappling with how best to support young people as they navigate online spaces, but we need more data to understand the full picture."
This initiative follows concerns raised by Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen in 2021, who shared internal documents suggesting a possible link between Instagram usage and increased rates of anxiety and depression among teens. These revelations have prompted calls for more transparent research efforts from Meta.
In response, Instagram has introduced safety features aimed at protecting younger users. However, legislative actions across the US continue to underscore the urgency of addressing the potential impacts of online platforms on children.

A new Benzinga poll shows whether the move could gain steam or be short-lived.
What Happened: The Russell 2000 index, which is tracked by the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IWM#NYSE">IWM</a>) is outperforming other major stock market indexes<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/07/39797464/small-caps-are-having-a-moment-russell-2000-notches-best-5-day-rally-in-over-4-year"> in recent weeks.</a>
The iShares Russell 2000 ETF is up 10.9% over the last month, outperforming the 1.7% return of the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), the -0.9% return of the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) and the 5.8% return of the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>).
Given the recent surge in small-cap stocks, Benzinga polled readers to find out if they are adding more small caps to their portfolio.
"Are you buying more or less small-cap stocks after the historic rally?" Benzinga asked.
The results were:

</ul>
Buying more small caps was the winner of the poll, beating out the option of maintaining the current level. Only 1% of readers said they were buying less. Surprisingly, 21% of readers said they are not investing in small-cap stocks currently.

Why It's Important: The recent gains for small-cap stocks come after large-cap stocks, especially those in the technology sector.
Freedom Capital Markets Global Strategist Jay Woods <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/broad-u-s-equity-etfs/24/07/39846454/exclusive-market-strategist-jay-woods-says-rotation-in-small-caps-is-just-starting-rus">told Benzinga</a> that the Russell 2000 is still 8% off of all-time highs, despite other market indexes hitting all-time highs.
Woods suggested that the 8% gain for the Russell 2000 is an "easy upside target."
