We run about a nine-week flowering cycle. Every week, I have one room being harvested and then reset and replanted."

Elliott Investment Management Adds To Southwest, Western Digital, Etsy, Match Group; Trims BILL Holdings, Seadrill, BlackLine, NRG Energy In Q3

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission issued new recommendations Wednesday through a bulletin designed to improve workplace health and safety at marijuana processing facilities and broadly across the legal industry.
The announcement represents the Commission's formal recognition of ground cannabis dust as a hazardous chemical that can irritate the respiratory system and exposed skin and marks a major step towards updating Massachusetts' workplace safety expectations following the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/22/10/29130552/cannabis-employee-dies-from-inhaling-cannabis-dust-osha-report">2022 occupational asthma death of a Holyoke processing facility employee</a>.
"Today's bulletin is intended to bring increased awareness of an identified health risk in the marijuana industry and will support Commission and industry efforts to enhance safety standards across Massachusetts," stated commission acting executive director/chief people officer Debbie Hilton-Creek. "We will continue to partner with licensees to appropriately and effectively communicate this message and depend on them to implement protocols that will protect the overall well-being of our workforce."
Under the new bulletin, the Commission recommends that all licensees engaged in marijuana processing follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines around hazardous chemicals in the workplace. The Commission also reminds licensees of its obligation to have a hazard communication program which includes the evaluation of hazardous chemicals in its facility and develop Safety Data Sheets to inform its employees.
Going forward, the Commission is advising licensees engaged in marijuana processing to protect employees from hazards associated with cannabis dust exposure by using engineering controls like local exhaust ventilation, plus administrative controls like limiting employee exposure during the workday. The Commission recommends that licensees provide personal protective equipment, and appropriately manage medical situations when they arise.
What Happened: On Jan. 4, 2022, Lorna McMurrey (27) complained she could not breathe, presumably due to cannabis kief (cannabis dust) in the air where she was grinding and packaging pre-rolls. She was taken to a local hospital&nbsp;where she died on Jan. 7. According to the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/72/wr/mm7246a2.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">report from</a> the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this was the first<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/11/35844553/cannabis-employee-died-from-occupational-asthma-fed-report-confirms-first-such-case-in-us" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> known case of an occupational asthma death</a> in the U.S. cannabis industry. The report confirmed that the occupational asthma was triggered by ground cannabis dust, and revealed that cannabis giant Trulieve (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TCNNF#OTCQX">TCNNF</a>) committed three &#8220;serious&#8221; violations assessed by OSHA for which it paid fines totaling $35,219.
In June, the Commission fined medical marijuana giant Trulieve (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TCNNF#OTCQX">TCNNF</a>) in relation to the death of a company&#8217;s employee in 2022. A company representative signed a tentative settlement with Commission, agreeing to a fine in the amount of $350,000.

Today's update follows a state Department of Public Health (DPH) Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) report and Occupational Lung Disease Bulletin that were issued following McMurrey's death.
As the first confirmed case of&nbsp;occupational asthma in a cannabis facility, the CDC report said the incident&nbsp;"illustrates missed opportunities for prevention, including control of workplace exposures, medical surveillance, and treatment according to current asthma guidelines."&nbsp;
The previous DPH report also included recommendations for marijuana cannabis processors, including training all employees about how to work safely around hazardous materials, developing comprehensive health and safety programs, and monitoring employees for health symptoms.
The Commission's latest announcement relative to cannabis dust follows a February bulletin that advised licensees about new safety and sanitary standards for processing the leaves and flowers of female marijuana plants in a way that is:

<li>Well cured and free from seeds and stems;</li>
<li>Free of dirt, sand, debris, and other foreign matter;</li>
<li>Free of contamination by mold, rot, other fungus, pests and bacterial diseases and satisfying the sanitation requirements in 105 CMR 500.000, and if applicable, 105 CMR 590.000: State Sanitary Code Chapter X – Minimum Sanitation Standards for Food Establishments;</li>
<li>Prepared and handled on food-grade stainless steel tables with no contact with Licensees' or Marijuana Establishment Agents' bare hands; and</li>
<li>Packaged in a secure area.</li>
</ul>
Commission's new bulletin clarifies that all licensees engaged in the processing of marijuana have a separate obligation to ensure the safety of workers, and all marijuana establishments and medical marijuana treatment centers in Massachusetts are required to follow Commission regulations that require written workplace safety and health standard operating procedures.

According to the states, the SEC's "regulation by enforcement" strategy has hindered the growth of a sector.
The complaint states, "The SEC's assertion of sweeping jurisdiction without congressional authorization deprives States of their proper sovereign role and chills the development of innovative regulatory frameworks for the digital asset industry."
The lawsuit also challenges the SEC's enforcement actions, alleging that they lack clear standards and impose undue burdens on industry participants. 
This has resulted in significant financial harm, with some companies moving operations overseas due to regulatory uncertainty, the plaintiffs argue. 
The SEC's regulatory stance &#8220;threatens to displace better-suited state laws that have been carefully designed to ensure consumer protection in the digital asset industry,&#8221; they added.
The timing of the suit coincides with a growing national conversation on digital asset regulation, especially as Benzinga's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/events/digital-assets/agenda/">Future of Digital Assets</a> conference approaches on Nov. 19, where key industry stakeholders and policymakers will discuss the future of cryptocurrency regulation in the U.S.
The states seek declaratory and injunctive relief, urging a return to a state-led regulatory approach that would foster innovation and protect consumers without overstepping federal boundaries.

18 Republican States Sue Biden's SEC Over Harsh Crypto Crackdown

A new report from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has called attention to the prevalence of extremist and hateful content on Steam, accusing the platform of enabling the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/gaming">spread of such material. </a>
<a href="https://www.adl.org/resources/report/steam-powered-hate-top-gaming-site-rife-extremism-antisemitism">According</a> to the ADL's findings, over 1.8 million instances of hate-related content, including Nazi imagery and support for terrorist organizations like ISIS and Hamas, were discovered during an &#8220;unprecedented&#8221; analysis of Steam&#8217;s vast user base.
Benzinga has reached out to Valve Corporation, the platform&#8217;s parent company, for comment, but the company had not responded at time of publication.

The report, published on the ADL&#8217;s website, offers a sweeping look at the types of content found across the platform.
Over the course of its investigation, the ADL examined 458 million user profiles, 152 million group avatars and more than 610 million comments from users. Among the most concerning discoveries were antisemitic symbols, white supremacist propaganda and support for extremist groups, including thousands of mentions of ISIS and Hamas.
In addition to the hateful imagery, the ADL uncovered troubling use of offensive keywords such as "1488," "shekel" and "white power," with nearly 185,000 specific terms identified in extremist contexts. In total, 1.5 million unique users and over 73,000 groups were found to have shared such content.
Despite these alarming findings, the ADL points out a critical gap in Steam&#8217;s content moderation policies. While Valve explicitly prohibits hate speech in its developer and community guidelines — stating that it forbids &#8220;speech that promotes hatred, violence or discrimination&#8221; — the ADL argues that enforcement of these rules remains inconsistent.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Valve's Moderation Tools Under Scrutiny</h1>
The ADL&#8217;s report goes on to question the effectiveness of Valve&#8217;s moderation efforts. While the company employs filters and automated tools to screen user-profiles and comments, these measures are not universally applied across all areas of the platform.
Notably, users can disable filters, making it easier for harmful content to slip through the cracks. Furthermore, the ADL asserts that Valve's keyword detection system can easily be evaded, with users modifying words or using ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) art to circumvent moderation systems.
&#8220;While Steam appears to be technically capable of moderating extremist and hateful content on its platform, the spread of extremist content on the platform is due in part to Valve&#8217;s highly permissive approach to content policy,&#8221; the ADL stated. 
It also pointed out that, in rare instances, Valve has taken down extremist content, but this has often occurred only after external pressure or media attention, rather than as part of a consistent, proactive strategy.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Calls For Change In Valve&#8217;s Platform</h1>
The organization has called for a significant overhaul of the company's content governance, urging Valve to implement policies that explicitly prohibit hate and extremism, conduct thorough audits of their moderation practices, and collaborate with researchers and civil society to improve their approach.
&#8220;Major gaming companies are selling their wares on a platform that is not addressing users&#8217; support of extremists and allowing the proliferation of hate,&#8221; Daniel Kelley, the ADL's director of strategy and operations, remarked in an <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-11-14/white-supremacist-nazi-content-spread-on-steam-gaming-platform?srnd=undefined">interview</a> with Bloomberg. 
&#8220;This increases the likelihood that someone will travel all the way down the rabbit hole,&#8221; Kelley added.

1.8 Million Instances Of Hate Content On Steam — Is Valve Ignoring Extremism?: Report

Former DoorDash Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DASH#NASDAQ">DASH</a>) delivery workers are claiming they haven't been paid thousands of dollars in wages from past years and are seeking protection from deportation after Donald Trump's recent win in<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/11/41768178/donald-trump-defeats-kamala-harris-to-win-2024-election"> the 2024 election.</a>
 What Happened: A group of 95 delivery workers claim they were not paid their wages by DoorDash, one of the leading<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/food-delivery"> food delivery companies</a> in the U.S., or by Motoclick, a smaller food delivery company.
Wage theft claims filed claim the workers were not paid more than $78,000 in wages, according to a <a href="https://gothamist.com/news/nyc-delivery-workers-filing-wage-theft-claims-seek-protection-from-deportation-under-trump">report </a>from Gothamist.
"We're not able to pay the rent or send money to our families in our own countries," Juan Iturbide, a former DoorDash delivery worker said.
Iturbide filed his claim against DoorDash with New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection in 2023 according to a <a href="https://documentedny.com/2024/11/13/doordash-immigrant-delivery-workers-stolen-wages/">report </a>from DocumentedNY.
"Delivery work is one of the most dangerous occupations in the city. In addition to risking our lives, we shouldn't have to worry about being robbed by such a wealthy company," Itrubide said, as reported by DocumentedNY. "We deserve to be paid for the service we provide."
The former delivery worker said he is owed around $1,500 by DoorDash in unpaid wages. Iturbide was deactivated by DoorDash in 2021 after five years working as a delivery driver.
Several of the workers, including Iturbide protested outside DoorDash's Manhattan headquarters on Wednesday.
One of the concerns of labor organizers helping the workers is that many claiming lost wages are immigrants without work authorization in the U.S. Bringing the claims forward could put the workers more at risk of deportation under Trump in his second presidential term, according to the report.
"If the federal government is going to fail workers, workers are going to need the protection of city and state agencies to hold these multibillion-dollar companies accountable," Worker's Justice Project executive director Ligia Guallpa said.

Why It's Important: The claims of unpaid wages could reignite the debate of whether food delivery workers are employees or independent contractors and comes with the timing of Trump's election win and deportation promises. The report said that New York City's 60,000 delivery workers are independent contractors.
New minimum wage laws and rules for delivery workers have added to the claims from workers against delivery companies.
The unpaid wages claims have caught the attention of New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, who sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in September.
The letter said that immigrant workers who have filed claims should be given protection from deportation proceedings and given legal right to work in the U.S.
DoorDash spokesperson Eli Scheinholtz said it takes concerns on wage theft seriously and investigates all claims to make sure the workers "receive what they're owed."
"Here's what we know to be true: Dashers in New York City get paid for the time spent completing work on our platform, in accordance with the city's minimum pay rules. If their pay does not meet the minimum pay rate at the end of the week, then they receive an adjustment — without exception," Scheinholtz said.
DASH Price Action: DoorDash stock closed Thursday down 1.12% at $173.80 versus a 52-week trading range of $92.56 to $178.16. DoorDash stock is up 80.2% year-to-date in 2024.

DoorDash Workers Claim Unpaid Wages, Seek Protection From Deportation: 'We're Not Able To Pay The Rent'

Toyota Motor (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tm-stock-quote/">TM</a>) is the best electric vehicle manufacturer on the market bar none. TM stock might be the only EV maker worth investing in. The Japanese car company avoided the dramatic retrenching of its EV-focused rivals due to its healthy skepticism.



Toyota chose a diverse approach to EVs instead of focusing on just one type. The leading car manufacturer prioritizes hybrid vehicles, despite producing all-electric battery EVs like its competitors. This proved prescient as BEV demand declines and hybrid sales surge.&nbsp;



Now with even Ford (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/f-stock-quote/">F</a>) and General Motors (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/gm-stock-quote/">GM</a>) hedging their EV bets and swinging to the production of more hybrids, Toyota stands head and shoulders above the competition. It is way out in front of the pack and will be the dominant leader for some time to come.



<h2>Always Thinking About Tomorrow</h2>



Toyota has long been well ahead of the industry when it comes to making green vehicles. 



Going as far back as the 1950s when it first introduced its cars to the U.S. market, they got excellent gas mileage. They might not have sold particularly well back then but the oil shocks of the 1970s and 1980s changed that.



While Detroit was consumed with still making gas guzzlers, Toyota was manufacturing cars that sipped gasoline, getting 30 miles per gallon. 



It catapulted the Japanese automaker to the forefront of the industry. By the mid-2000s, Toyota surpassed GM as the world&rsquo;s largest car seller, a position it has never relinquished.



Yet it was 2001&rsquo;s introduction of the Prius that Toyota displayed its forward thinking and put itself ahead of the competition once again. 



With gas mileage exceeding 50 mpg, it was an instant driver favorite. Since then, Toyota has continued to explore alternatives to mainstream thinking.&nbsp;



Not only is Toyota the premier hybrid automaker, but it has invested heavily in hydrogen fuel cells, and not just for vehicles. 



It is building Woven City, a 175-acre smart city powered by hydrogen fuel cells to test new technology, including autonomous vehicles and smart homes. 



It has created the MONET Technologies joint venture with Softbank (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/sftby-stock-quote/">SFTBY</a>) and other Japanese automakers to develop autonomous vehicle services. 



It has a battery JV with Panasonic (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pcrhy-stock-quote/">PCRHY</a>) to develop EV batteries with a 1,000 kilometer range.



<h2>The Future of TM Stock</h2>



These are not just technologies for the future. Toyota plans to implement them today. 



Its new batteries, for example, will appear in its 2026 model vehicles that will feature gigacasting manufacturing and a <a href="https://japan-forward.com/can-the-arene-os-make-toyota-the-apple-of-evs/#google_vignette">new computer operating system</a> called Arene that may turn Toyota into the &ldquo;Apple of EVs.&rdquo;



These are advanced technologies Toyota is deploying that others are shrinking away from. 



Tesla (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/">TSLA</a>), for example, was supposed to begin using gigacasting manufacturing but has since abandoned the idea. 



Gigacasting is like die casting Hot Wheels cars. It <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-retreats-next-generation-gigacasting-manufacturing-process-2024-05-01/">stamps out the underbody</a> of a vehicle, which typically contain hundreds of pieces, as a single unit. 



Where Toyota is moving forward with gigacasting, Tesla is sticking with its current three-part underbody.



And to cut costs further, Toyota is expanding its manufacturing operations outside of Japan. 



While almost 80% of the automaker&rsquo;s sales come from outside Japan, less than two-thirds of its manufacturing plants are located elsewhere. Getting manufacturing closer to its customers will save more money.



<h2>The Real EV Road Ahead</h2>



Toyota enjoyed massive profits in 2023 as its hybrid sales took off. It sold 3.4 million hybrids last year, up 31% from the 2.6 million it sold in 2022. BEVs, on the other hand, accounted for <a href="https://www.motor1.com/news/706746/toyota-electric-vehicle-2023-sales/">less than 1%</a> of all the vehicles it sold, or some 104,000 vehicles.&nbsp;



That continued in the first quarter where sales surged 20% from the year-ago period. EVs of all kinds now account for nearly 37% of total sales.



Yet Toyota doesn&rsquo;t think BEVs will ever be a winning bet. The CEO of Toyota North America Ted Ogawa called them a <a href="https://www.autonews.com/executives/toyota-na-ceo-ted-ogawa-us-ev-demand-will-be-30-2030">&ldquo;wasted investment.&rdquo;</a> It thinks they will garner just 30% of the total electric vehicle market. 



Hybrid vehicles, fuel-cell EVs and hydrogen cars will account for the other 70%.



With Toyota Motor&rsquo;s leadership position in all of those markets, its stock is a buy today.

Crisis has become an opportunity for beaten-down <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/battery/lithium/">lithium stocks</a>.



For one, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-06-26/exxon-backs-ev-demand-growth-to-turn-its-lithium-bet-into-a-win">according to Exxon Mobil</a> (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/xom-stock-quote/">XOM</a>), &ldquo;the world urgently needs more lithium than it&rsquo;s producing today.&rdquo;



Two, we&rsquo;re just starting to see electric vehicle sales bounce back. In fact, according to Kelley Blue Book, <a href="https://www.coxautoinc.com/market-insights/q4-2023-ev-sales/">about 330,460 EVs were sold in the U.S.</a> just in the second quarter. With those numbers likely to increase even more, far more lithium will be needed.&nbsp;



In addition, according to FastMarkets.com, we could see 487% growth in lithium demand to nearly 412,000 metric tons by 2030. Plus,&nbsp;according to the&nbsp;<a href="https://thehill.com/business/4619107-demand-for-critical-minerals-drives-massive-changes-in-global-economy/#:~:text=Demand%20for%20lithium%2C%20nickel%2C%20cobalt,of%20nearly%201%2C400%20metric%20tons.">United Nation&rsquo;s Conference on Trade and Development,</a>&nbsp;demand for metals, such as lithium are &ldquo;on track&rdquo; to outpace production through 2050. The UN group also noted that &ldquo;Lithium tops the list, with expected demand in 2045 more than tripling the likely supply in that year of nearly 1,400 metric tons.&rdquo;&nbsp;



In short, it&rsquo;s time to buy the excessive fear in lithium stocks before others wake up.&nbsp;In fact, here are seven of the top lithium stocks you may want to buy on weakness today.



<h2>Albemarle (ALB)</h2>

Not expecting for it to stay this low for long, I&rsquo;d buy it here. While we wait for the eventual recovery, we can collect its 1.73% yield. Its new dividend of $0.405 is payable Oct. 1 to shareholders of record as of Sept. 13.



Granted, most firms are negative on ALB with the pullback in lithium prices, but the drop truly has become overkill.&nbsp;&nbsp;And to be honest, their fear is our opportunity to buy.&nbsp;Also, if the Federal Reserve does cut interest rates this year, as expected, it could drive electric vehicle sales, and related EV-related investments even higher, including lithium.



Helping, recent earnings growth wasn&rsquo;t too shabby.&nbsp;<a href="https://investors.albemarle.com/news-and-events/news/news-details/2024/Albemarle-Reports-First-Quarter-2024-Results/default.aspx">In its first quarter</a>, the company posted adjusted earnings per share of 26 cents, which beat by a penny. Also, its total revenue did rise to $1.36 billion, which was better than the $1.29 billion forecast.



<h2>Sociedad Quimica Y Minera (SQM)</h2>

While we also wait for SQM to recover, we can also collect its yield of about 5.09%.



Earnings haven&rsquo;t been hot, but that&rsquo;s to be expected with current lithium prices. In its first quarter, its <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/sqm-reports-earnings-for-the-three-months-ended-march-31-2024-302153702.html">EPS loss of $3.04 </a>missed by $1.46. Revenue, down 52.2% year over year, also missed by $60 million. However, it looks like the stock is priced in that weakness, as well as weakness from lithium prices. Plus, the company did raise its FY 2025 numbers.



According to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/lithium-miner-sqm-swings-870-million-loss-sinking-prices-tax-ruling-2024-05-23/#:~:text=%22We%20believe%20that%20the%20strong,during%202024%2C%22%20Ramos%20said.">SQM Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Ramos</a>:&nbsp;&ldquo;We believe that the strong demand growth in the lithium market seen since the beginning of the year could continue for the remainder of the year, with total lithium demand surpassing 1.1 million metric tons during 2024. Given this positive trend in demand growth, especially in&nbsp;China&nbsp;which accounts for almost 75% of global lithium demand, and our updated sales volumes outlook for the year, we believe that our sales volumes could reach 200,000 metric tons in 2024.&rdquo;&nbsp;



<h2>Arcadium Lithium (ALTM)</h2>

For one, as a low-cost lithium producer, the company should see a massive acceleration in earnings growth with heavier demand for lithium. Two, analysts at <a href="https://quantisnow.com/insight/arcadium-lithium-shares-are-trading-higher-after-rbc-capital-initiated-coverage-with-an-outperform-5578003">RBC Capital</a> just initiated a buy rating on the stock with a price target of $4.



In fact, as noted by the firm, ALTM offers investors &ldquo;the most vertically integrated, and diversified lithium and chemical exposure across our coverage.&rdquo;



Also, as noted by <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/07/3-lithium-stocks-that-could-grow-your-wealth/">Investorplace contributor Muslim Farooque</a>, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s on course to realize roughly $60 to $80 million in synergies and cost reductions this year. <h2>Standard Lithium (SLI)</h2>

Rallying from about $1.20 to $1.45 on heavy volume, it&rsquo;s been one of the bright spots of a bleak lithium market. Things could get even better for the company, especially, with electric vehicle sales on the mend and the potential for interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve in September. 



Helping, there&rsquo;s a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/sli/forecast">consensus strong buy</a> on the SLI stock with a target of $3.97.



Better,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.fastmarkets.com/insights/standard-lithium-enters-partnership-agreement-with-energy-multinational-equinor/#:~:text=Standard%20Lithium%20announced%20on%20Wednesday,projects%20in%20the%20United%20States">Standard Lithium recently announced its partnership with Equinor</a>&nbsp;to develop its large-scale lithium projects in the Smackover Formation of east Texas and southwest Arkansas.&nbsp;With this, the deeper pockets at Equinor could help de-risk current SLI projects and help reduce its capital expenditure obligations moving forward.&nbsp;



&ldquo;With this partnership, we have the opportunity to accelerate our progress and carve out a significant role in shaping the future of sustainably produced lithium,&rdquo; added Standard Lithium CEO Robert Mintak, as noted in a company press release.



<h2>Global X Lithium ETF (LIT)</h2>

With an expense ratio of 0.75%, the ETF invests in the complete lithium cycle. That includes mining and refining the metal through battery production.&nbsp;



Some of its 40 holdings include Albemarle,&nbsp;Pilbara Minerals&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pilbf-stock-quote/">PILBF</a>),&nbsp;Tesla&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/">TSLA</a>),&nbsp;BYD Co. (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/byddf-stock-quote/">BYDDF</a>),&nbsp;Arcadium Lithium(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/altm-stock-quote/">ALTM</a>), and&nbsp;Panasonic&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pcrhy-stock-quote/">PCRHY</a>).



We also have to consider that&nbsp;should we see a stronger green energy boom and a global recovery in electric vehicle sales, lithium prices should explode even higher.&nbsp;Plus, as noted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, lithium demand is&nbsp;<a href="https://thehill.com/business/4619107-demand-for-critical-minerals-drives-massive-changes-in-global-economy/#:~:text=Demand%20for%20lithium%2C%20nickel%2C%20cobalt,of%20nearly%201%2C400%20metric%20tons.">&ldquo;on track&rdquo;</a>&nbsp;to outpace production through 2050.&nbsp;



All of which could send lithium prices through the roof.



<h2>Amplify Lithium &amp; Battery Technology ETF (BATT)</h2>

After failing at $9.60 resistance, it&rsquo;s just starting to pivot lower again. Instead of trying to catch a falling knife here, it&rsquo;s best to wait until a new bottom is in place.&nbsp;



Longer term, this is another hot ETF that could double, even triple, when lithium prices and related stocks start to push well off their lows. While simplistic to say, it&rsquo;s only a matter of time before lithium recovers and takes the BATT ETF along for the ride.



With an expense ratio of 0.59%, the BATT ETF provides exposure to global companies that develop, produce and use lithium battery technology &mdash; all for less than $10 a share. BATT ETF has 91 holdings, including&nbsp;Tesla,&nbsp;Albemarle&nbsp;and Sociedad Quimica Y Minera.



<h2>Piedmont Lithium (PLL)</h2>

After rallying from about $9, it&rsquo;s failing at $12.65 resistance. Instead of trying to catch the falling knife here, I&rsquo;d wait for it to bottom out first.



Longer-term, there&rsquo;s a lot to like here, especially after the company&nbsp;received approval for a permit for the construction and operation of its proposed Caroline Lithium project from North Carolina. Better, the company&nbsp;says its mine could be one of North America&rsquo;s biggest sources of lithium for electric vehicle batteries.



<a href="https://news.futunn.com/en/post/26255151/roth-mkm-maintains-buy-on-piedmont-lithium-raises-price-target?level=1&amp;data_ticket=1721397985360331">Roth MKM also reiterated a buy rating on Piedmont</a> with a $65 price target shortly after it received approval for its mining permit from North Carolina.



Again, while I do expect to see further weakness immediate term, the stock has substantial upside opportunity with its projects over the long haul.&nbsp;
