What happened: The exchange submitted a 19b-4 <a href="https://listingcenter.nasdaq.com/assets/rulebook/nasdaq/filings/SR-NASDAQ-2025-005.pdf">application </a>with the regulator to list shares of an ETF applied by digital asset trading firm Canary Capital.
The filing of the 19b-4 document marks the second step in the ETF approval process, which followed Canary Capital&#8217;s amended S-1 registration application on Wednesday. According to the rules, the SEC has 240 days to deny or approve the 19b-4 application.
Responding to the filing, leading ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said that Litecoin ETF has "all the boxes checked" and is set to become the first altcoin ETF of 2025.

President-elect Donald Trump is set to issue an executive order to declare cryptocurrency as a national priority and incorporate industry experts into his administration, according to a Thursday report.
What happened: The strategic language was used to encourage government agencies to engage with the expanding industry, whose most valuable asset, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), surpassed a $2 trillion valuation in recent days, Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-01-16/trump-plans-to-designate-cryptocurrency-as-a-national-priority">reported</a>, citing people familiar with the plans.
Among the proposals being considered for inclusion in the executive order is a directive to all federal agencies to reassess their policies regarding digital assets and potentially halt any ongoing litigation related to cryptocurrency.
Another idea under consideration is the establishment of a national Bitcoin reserve that would include the government&#8217;s current Bitcoin holdings. This was one of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/08/40179714/trumps-bitcoin-stockpile-plan-would-have-positive-impact-on-crypto-prices-but-would-leave-">Trump's biggest election promises</a> to gain support from cryptocurrency enthusiasts.

Two minutes and 40 seconds after liftoff, the Super Heavy detached, allowing Starship to ascend toward space powered by its six Raptor engines. However, the loss of telemetry left flight controllers in the dark about the final stages of the ascent. 
SpaceX later confirmed the ship&#8217;s destruction on X, stating, &#8220;Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly during its ascent burn.&#8221;
