However, the more significant headwinds in the said quarter were from a 3% annual loss of $1.1 billion on foreign exchange returns, driven by a broad-based strengthening of the U.S. dollar against foreign currencies, with a notable devaluation of the Argentine peso, Brazilian real, and Mexican peso.
Additionally, the first quarter gross bookings outlook incorporates a substantial forex headwind, emphasizing the impact of currency fluctuations on reported growth.
&#8220;We are expecting FX to be a larger topline headwind in Q1,&#8221; said company CFO Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah during the earnings call.
While the fourth quarter gross booking was up 21% year-on-year to $44.2 billion, the company now expects gross bookings in the range of $42-43.5 billion for the first quarter, representing a 5.5 percentage-point currency headwind.
However, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi added, &#8220;Despite FX headwinds, we expect continued strong growth in Q1 with 17% to 21% constant currency gross bookings growth and continued profit expansion.&#8221;

Khosrowshahi also cited record growth in users, trips, and bookings, driven by innovation including autonomous vehicles, calling it the &#8220;strongest quarter ever&#8221;.
Price Action: Uber&#8217;s stock has risen 2.07% on a year-to-date basis, whereas the exchange-traded fund tracking S&amp;P 500, SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) advanced 3.35% in the same period. EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) will reportedly start production at its Shanghai megafactory on Feb. 11, less than a year after starting construction.
What Happened: According to a report from local media outlet Shanghai Securities News, the megafactory in Shanghai, Tesla&#8217;s second globally, will start production on Feb. 11 and ramp up capacity in the first quarter. 
Tesla did not immediately respond to Benzinga&#8217;s request for confirmation on the report. 
The <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42680075/tesla-exec-says-we-will-be-ready-to-efficiently-produce-autonomous-vehicles-as-shanghai-megafactory-nears-completion">Shanghai megafactory</a> is the company's first factory dedicated to the production of energy storage products outside the U.S. Currently, Tesla has only one other factory dedicated to manufacturing megapacks, located in Lathrop, California. The Lathrop facility has the capability of producing 40 GWh of energy storage products.
Tesla officially began the construction of the Shanghai megafactory in May, taking only seven months from the start of construction to starting <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/24/12/42737037/tesla-shanghai-megafactory-starts-trial-production-seven-months-after-breaking-ground">trial production</a> in December.
Megapack is a powerful battery manufactured by the company in addition to its home battery called Powerwall.&nbsp;Each megapack unit can store over 3.9 Megawatt-hours of energy or enough to power an average of 3,600 homes for an hour.
Why It Matters: Tesla reported revenue of over $3 billion from its energy generation and storage segment in the fourth quarter or more than double the $1.44 billion reported in the corresponding quarter of 2023, upon deploying a record&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42780335/teslas-evergy-storage-deployements-rise-in-q4-even-as-vehicle-deliveries-disappoint" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">11.0 GWh of energy storage products</a>.

Under the contract, Helix plans to utilize the Grand Canyon III trenching support vessel mobilized with the T1500 jet trencher, the i-Trencher trenching system, a work-class remotely operated vehicle and associated survey services. What Happened: Qualcomm's QCT segment delivered a record $10.1 billion in the first quarter, up 20% year-over-year.
However, the company CFO and COO, Akash Palkhiwala, during its earnings call said that Qualcomm expects QCT revenues of $8.9 billion to $9.5 billion.

EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) is looking to hire several engineers and manufacturing technicians as it seeks to ramp up production of its humanoid robot nicknamed Optimus.
What Happened: Tesla&#8217;s careers page shows multiple openings ranging from production manager, manufacturing quality technician, manufacturing engineer, and more for the robot, mostly based out of California. 
The process engineer position job listing says the hired individual will &#8220;identify and resolve key constraints to full-scale production while leading cross-functional implementation of complex assembly processes to production.&#8221;
&#8220;My team is turning Tesla Bot into a reality! We&#8217;re building Tesla Bot in our Fremont Factory in California and we&#8217;re looking for engineers up for the challenge of getting this product ramped up for high volume production,&#8221; Karissa Thein, Senior Sourcer at Tesla, said in a post on Linkedin.

These robots will inform the production of the next version of the robot which will be launched mid-next year and be likely sold to other companies, the CEO said, while adding that there is a lack of certainty on the exact timing.
Talking about the price of the humanoid robot, Musk said that the robot's production cost will be below $20,000 once production touches a million units a year. However, the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41354482/tesla-engineer-admits-optimus-robots-were-human-assisted-to-some-extent-at-robotaxi-unveiling-event">price of Optimus </a>will be set by market demand, Musk said, while also stating that he expects demand will not be a problem even at a high price owing to the multiple use cases on the product. 
"I think long-term Optimus has the potential to be north of $10 trillion in revenue. Like, it's real bananas," Musk then said.&nbsp;

QIND, whose operations are headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is an industrial company specializing in the energy sector.&nbsp;



This acquisition is a significant step in Fusion Fuel&#8217;s strategy to expand into both traditional and clean energy sectors, combining expertise in hydrogen engineering with Quality Industrial&#8217;s gas and utility capabilities.



Under the terms of the deal, Fusion Fuel will issue a mix of 19.99% of its ordinary shares and convertible preferred shares; the transaction will result in Quality Industrial sellers holding a substantial stake in Fusion Fuel on a fully diluted basis. However, the preferred shares cannot be converted until approved by Fusion Fuel&#8217;s shareholders.

Quality Industrial operates Al Shola Gas, which provides services to over 40,000 customers in the Middle East, including major clients like Emirates Airlines and the Dubai Government. In 2023, Al Shola Gas reported $11 million in revenue and $1.8 million in net income.



Fusion Fuel views this acquisition as a way to strengthen its position in the energy market by integrating recurring revenue from Quality Industrial&#8217;s established gas operations while expanding its hydrogen engineering services into the Middle East and Europe.



CEO Frederico Figueira de Chaves emphasized that this deal aligns with Fusion Fuel&#8217;s long-term growth strategy despite challenges in the green hydrogen market.



Chaves added that as part of the combination of the two companies, John-Paul Backwell will join Fusion Fuel&#8217;s Board of Directors upon closing. In addition, Alla Jezmir has resigned from the company&#8217;s Board.&nbsp;



The acquisition is expected to close shortly, pending regulatory approvals.
