The company reported net sales of $6.01 billion, a slight increase of 0.13% year-over-year. Adjusted net sales totaled $5.808 billion, up 2.2% YoY, beating the consensus of $5.781 billion.

Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STX#NASDAQ">STX</a>) will release its second-quarter financial results, after the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/STX/earnings">closing bell, on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.</a>
Analysts expect the Singapore-based company to report quarterly earnings at $1.88 per share, up sharply from 12 cents per share in the year-ago period. Seagate projects quarterly revenue of $2.32 billion, compared to $1.55 billion a year earlier, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
On Jan. 16, Wells Fargo analyst Aaron Rakers maintained Seagate with an Equal-Weight rating and lowered the price target from $120 to $110.
With the recent buzz around Seagate, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends, too. As of now, Seagate offers an annual dividend yield of 2.95%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of 72 cents per share ($2.88 a year).
So, how can investors exploit its dividend yield to pocket a regular $500 monthly?
To earn $500 per month or $6,000 annually from dividends alone, you would need an investment of approximately $203,447 or around 2,083 shares. For a more modest $100 per month or $1,200 per year, you would need $40,728 or around 417 shares.

Note that dividend yield can change on a rolling basis, as the dividend payment and the stock price both fluctuate over time.
How that works: The dividend yield is computed by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock&#8217;s current price.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently priced at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield drops to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield rises to 5% ($2/$40).
Similarly, changes in the dividend payment can impact the yield. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will also increase, provided the stock price stays the same. Conversely, if the dividend payment decreases, so will the yield.

The company appointed Peter Jackson as its next President and CEO and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/09/b40935211/builders-firstsource-announces-planned-ceo-and-cfo-transition" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pete Beckmann As CFO, effective November 6, 2024.</a>



Jackson, who is the current CFO, will succeed current CEO Dave Rush, who is retiring after 25 years of service.



Rush will remain on the Board of Directors and serve as a special advisor to ensure a smooth transition.



On the other hand, Pete Beckmann, currently Senior Vice President of Financial Planning &amp; Analysis at Builders FirstSource, will succeed Peter Jackson as CFO.

Toll Brothers, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TOL#NYSE">TOL</a>) CEO Douglas Yearley is expecting the demand for luxury homes <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/08/40489889/whats-going-on-with-toll-brothers-stock-wednesday">to remain robust</a> into 2025 after his high-end construction company posted solid third-quarter results on Tuesday.



&#8220;With mortgage rates at their lowest point in a year and trending lower, favorable demographics and continuing balance in the supply and demand of homes for sale, we are optimistic that demand for new homes will remain solid through the end of fiscal &#8217;24 and into 2025,&#8221; he said on Wednesday during a conference call with analysts.



He noted that demand was &#8220;uneven&#8221; throughout the quarter as May had a strong start that slowed in June, while July saw the highest demand, particularly in the latter half of the month.



&#8220;We are encouraged by demand trends we are seeing across the country and also across our buyer segments,&#8221; he said.



Demand was especially strong in the states of California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and in the urban areas of Atlanta, Boise, Las Vegas and Metro D.C., he said.



Toll Brothers posted adjusted EPS of $3.60 that exceeded Wall Street consensus of $3.31 and $2.73 billion in revenue that beat the analyst estimate of $2.71 billion.

But RBC Capital Markets pointed out that Toll Brothers&#8217; 11% rise in home orders to 2,490 units from a year ago fell well short of its expectation for a 26% jump in orders and Wall Street&#8217;s forecast of a 27% increase in orders. Meanwhile, the company&#8217;s gross margin of 27.6% beat RBC&#8217;s forecast of 26.4% and Street consensus of 26.3%.



&#8220;Net, the miss on orders and beat on GM% were both wider than expected,&#8221; analyst Mike Dahl wrote in a note.



Wedbush Securities noted that Toll Brothers&#8217; orders rose by double-digit percentages in the Midatlantic, South and Mountain regions but fell by single-digit percentages in the North and Pacific regions.



It also pointed out that Toll Brothers&#8217; sales absorption rate, which is the ratio of homes sold to homes available in a market during a period, of 2.1 homes per month was below Wedbush&#8217;s forecast of 2.3 homes per month.



&#8220;We expect absorption to decline to 1.9 orders/month in F4Q24 due to normal seasonality,&#8221; analyst Jay McCanless wrote in a note.



Price Action: Toll Brothers gained 5.62%, to close at $141.03 on Wednesday, along with gains across ETFs in the sector.
