Tesla Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) expansion plans for its gigafactory in Germany have reportedly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/05/38891146/teslas-german-factory-expansion-gets-local-councils-nod-despite-protests">received approval</a> from environmental authorities.
What Happened: The environmental authorities in the German state of Brandenburg, where Tesla&#8217;s gigafactory is located, have given the green light to the company&#8217;s expansion plans, Reuters reported. 
The approval allows Tesla to create an asphalted logistics area for new vehicles, stairwells on its pressing plant, and an access guard, the report said. 
The approval is key to the EV giant&#8217;s aim of doubling the plant's capacity for battery production to 100 gigawatt hours and car production to 1 million units annually.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/03/38001324/german-chancellor-olaf-scholz-calls-arson-attack-on-teslas-giga-berlin-a-terrorist-act-wants-ev-gian">came out in support</a> of Tesla&#8217;s Berlin gigafactory expansion earlier amid protests by environmentalists and local residents. He expressed his desire for Tesla to develop in Brandenburg in the same way Ford did in Cologne.
Why It Matters: Environmentalists and locals have voiced against the proposed expansion. In May, several protestors attempted to storm the company's factory and even injured several police officers in the ensuing clash. Several protestors were taken into police custody&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/05/38774207/elon-musk-says-tesla-was-the-only-car-company-attacked-after-16-protesters-were-taken-into-custody-i" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">over the incident</a>.
In March, an arson attack on the factory caused a power outage and halted production for about a week. Far-left activist organization&nbsp;Vulkan Group&nbsp;claimed the attack and said it was&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/03/37528386/tesla-senior-exec-fires-back-after-arson-attack-warns-of-green-capitalism-says-ev-giant-creates-most" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">spurred by environmental concerns.</a>
As per Tesla&#8217;s first quarter report, the German factory currently has an installed annual vehicle capacity of 375,000 Model Y vehicles in addition to millions of battery cells.

The CDR Split will take effect by way of a subdivision of all Nvidia CDRs that are outstanding after the close of trading on&nbsp;July 9, 2024, each outstanding Nvidia CDR automatically being split into the number of post-split Nvidia CDRs as indicated in the table above.
The Nvidia CDRs will begin trading on a split-adjusted basis on&nbsp;July 10, 2024.
CIBC confirms that the product of the CDR Ratio for the Nvidia CDRs and the number of Nvidia CDRs outstanding will be unchanged by the CDR Split. Accordingly, the CDR Split is not expected to have any economic impact on the value of investors&#39; Nvidia CDR positions.
CIBC has obtained an opinion from Torys LLP that the CDR Split would not have any material adverse consequences under Canadian federal income tax laws to holders of Nvidia CDRs resident in&nbsp;Canada.

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) shares surged 6.5% on Wednesday after Wedbush raised its price target on the stock from $275 to $300. The company&#8217;s stock also climbed on Tuesday following the company&#8217;s delivery figures.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note, with materials, information technology, and utilities stocks recording the biggest gains on Wednesday. However, healthcare and consumer staples stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session lower.
The Dow Jones closed lower by around 24 points to 39,308.00 on Wednesday. The S&amp;P 500 rose 0.51% at 5,537.02, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.88% at 18,188.30 during Wednesday's session.

Billion entrepreneur Elon Musk on Thursday shared a video snippet on X of Palantir Technologies co-founder Peter Thiel applauding his penchant for risk. Thiel&#8217;s The Founders Fund is<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/11/35953853/elon-musks-neuralink-secures-43m-in-fresh-funding-led-by-peter-thiels-founders-fund-amid-controversi"> among the backers </a>of Musk&#8217;s SpaceX and the two worked together at PayPal in the 2000s. 
What Happened: The snippet shared by Musk is from a longer conversation that Thiel had with journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin in late June at the Aspen Ideas Festival in late June. 
"You know, when Elon was building both Tesla and SpaceX in the 2000s, people thought he was just really, really crazy. I think even those of us who had worked with him at PayPal, I mean, there's this PayPal book that David Sacks and I thought of writing, and the Elon chapter was titled something like, "The Man Who Knew Nothing About Risk",&#8221; Thiel said. 
&#8220;There are all these crazy Elon stories I could tell&#8230; If one of the two companies had succeeded, you would say, "Well, maybe he still got really lucky," but when two out of two companies that people thought were completely harebrained in the 2000s, when they both succeed, man, you have to somehow reassess it, and somehow, the rest of us, somehow, are too risk averse, or there's something about risk he knows that we don't, or something like this,&#8221; he added.
Musk&#8217;s former internet banking firm, X.com, merged with Confinity, a security software company co-founded&nbsp;by&nbsp;Peter Thiel, in 2000.&nbsp;The union of these two companies eventually brought about PayPal.
Thiel&#8217;s Investment In Musk&#8217;s Companies: While Thiel&#8217;s The Founders Fund is a backer of Musk&#8217;s SpaceX, he has no investment in Musk&#8217;s publicly-listed EV company Tesla. 
Talking about his decision to not invest in Tesla, Thiel said that he tends not to invest in public companies and Tesla went public way early in 2010. However, Thiel also has his regrets. 
&#8220;We should have invested in that one,&#8221; Thiel said at the festival. 
However, had he been a shareholder, he would have definitely voted for Musk&#8217;s $56 billion pay package from 2018 which was rescinded by a Delaware Court earlier this year, Thiel said.
&#8220;&#8230;.because you would know that if it failed, the share price would have gone down a lot the next day&#8230;.whether you believe in the package or not, the rational thing would be that you should vote for it,&#8221; Thiel said. 
 After the judge voided Musk's package, the company's board put the pay package up for shareholder vote yet again, the result of which was announced in June at the company's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39326890/elon-musk-mocks-delaware-with-farewell-cake-after-shareholders-approve-move-to-texas-vox-populi-vox" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">annual shareholder meeting</a>. The proposal was passed after it received 72% of all votes cast, only marginally lower than the 73% it received in 2018.
Why It Matters:&nbsp;In November, Musk voiced his disagreement with Thiel&#8217;s popular &#8216;law&#8217; on startups that a startup that is messed up at its foundation cannot be fixed. Tesla too was initially ‘insanely messed up' but has grown since to be one of the biggest companies around the globe by market cap, Musk said. 
"While I have immense respect for Peter&#8217;s intellect, he did explicitly pass on funding Tesla at a $70M valuation, despite being offered priority," <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/11/35867416/elon-musk-refutes-paypal-co-founders-law-claims-peter-thiel-refused-to-fund-tesla-at-onset">the CEO added</a>. 
Tesla went public in 2010. Its stock has risen over 19,000% to date to close at $246.39 on Wednesday. The company now has a market cap of $737.53B and is placed amongst the most valued companies around the globe.

&ldquo;Despite these price decreases, there are still notable variations in vape prices among states. Leading the charts are Illinois ($66 per equivalent gram), <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/23/09/34554525/marylands-wholesale-cannabis-market-sunmed-leads-the-pack-with-21-2-z-a-reports">Maryland</a> ($54), and Massachusetts and Nevada ($49). The most affordable options can be found in Michigan at $15, with Washington at $20 and Oregon at $23.&rdquo;

<h3>State Variations In Vape Penetration</h3>

Vape penetration varies significantly by state, with more mature markets such as California and Colorado showing higher rates, while &quot;newer&quot; markets like Massachusetts and Michigan have lower penetration.

<h3>Rise of All-in-Ones (AIOs)</h3>

All-in-one disposables are gaining market share at the expense of traditional cartridges in states like California, where they have seen a significant uptick in sales.

AIOs outperformed cartridges in terms of sales growth in most states, except for Illinois and Nevada.

&quot;In California, the largest cannabis vape market, all-in-one disposables rose to over 23% of sales in the third quarter of 2023, up from 15% in the same period in 2022 and 11% in the third quarter of 2021. &ldquo;Notably, while all-in-one disposables surged by 39% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2023, traditional cartridges saw a 19% decline or a 21% decrease over a two-year period.
