SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPWR#NASDAQ">SPWR</a>) shares are trading lower Tuesday. The company announced it received a Nasdaq <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/08/n40325660/sunpower-announces-nasdaq-delisting-notification">delisting notification on Monday.</a>
The Details:
The delisting is a result of SunPower&#8217;s failure to demonstrate compliance with Nasdaq Listing Rules after filing voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 of Title 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code and failure to file periodic financial reports.
Trading in the company&#8217;s stock on Nasdaq will be suspended on Aug. 16, 2024. As a result, the company&#8217;s common stock is expected to commence trading on the Pink Open Market, commonly referred to as the &#8220;pink sheets."

What's Going On With SunPower Stock Ahead Of Delisting?

On Tuesday, Apollomics Inc.&#8216;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/APLM#NASDAQ">APLM</a>) stock surged as the company announced preliminary clinical data for the cohort of patients with non-CNS MET fusion solid tumors from the Phase 2 SPARTA <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/08/g40335147/apollomics-announces-positive-preliminary-data-of-vebreltinib-in-patients-with-non-cns-met-fusion-" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">trial of vebreltinib</a>.
The SPARTA trial is evaluating the efficacy and safety of vebreltinib in a range of MET-altered tumors.
As of the data analysis cutoff date of July 31, 14 patients with non-CNS MET fusion solid tumors were included in the study.
An objective response rate (ORR) of 43% was observed, including six confirmed responses, out of 14 evaluable patients including one complete response in third-line metastatic NSCLC and five partial responses (three patients with NSCLC, one patient in pancreatic cancer, and one patient with intrahepatic bile duct cancer).
Median overall survival (OS) was 12.4 months, and median progression-free survival was 4.5 months.
The median duration of response is 5.6 months, with a median time to response of 3.7 months. The longest recorded response is 18 months, with the patient still undergoing treatment.
Based on these new data, Apollomics is evaluating opportunities for further development of vebreltinib in patients with MET fusions.
Patients currently enrolled in the SPARTA MET fusion cohort will continue with treatment and study follow-up.
In November 2023, Apollomics&#8217; partner in China,&nbsp;Avistone Biotechnology Co. Ltd., received conditional approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China for the commercialization of vebreltinib to&nbsp;treat patients with MET exon 14 skipping non-<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/23/11/35828272/why-is-cancer-firm-apollomics-stock-trading-higher-today" rel="noreferrer noopener">small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)</a>.

Starbucks (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SBUX#NASDAQ">SBUX</a>) analysts are mixed Tuesday on what the addition of Brian Niccol, previously CEO and Chairman of Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMG#NYSE">CMG</a>), could mean for <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/08/40338228/starbucks-appoints-chipotle-mexican-grill-veteran-as-new-ceo-stock-soars">the coffee chain. </a>
 The Starbucks Analysts: Wedbush analyst Nick Setyan maintained a Neutral rating on Starbucks with an $80 price target.
Baird analyst David Tarantino upgraded Starbucks from Neutral to Outperform and raised the price target from $81 to $110.
Wedbush On Starbucks: Niccol's move from Chipotle to Starbucks might not be as straightforward as his move from Taco Bell to Chipotle, Setyan said in a new investor note.
"Confidence in Brian Niccol (is) understandable, but Starbucks is no Chipotle," the analyst said.
The analyst calls moving to Starbucks "a different ballgame," adding that Niccol&#8217;s familiarity with Taco Bell meant his earlier move to Chipotle made sense.
"CMG has never embraced menu innovation, marketing of any kind, and was an even more straightforward business model than Taco Bell's franchised one."
Niccol helped Chipotle re-engage with its customers, Setyan said. 
"Starbucks is a global business with years of history of product innovation, brand positioning, throughput initiatives, digital innovation, etc."
At Starbucks, Niccol could be tasked with connecting with a new customer, the analyst said. 
The jump in Starbucks' stock price Tuesday was termed "premature" by the analyst.
With the departure of Niccol, Setyan said he remains confident that Chipotle is in good hands. The company's COO Scott Boatwright will serve as the interim CEO. Boatwright has served as the company's COO since 2017 and was instrumental in the company's turnaround, the analyst said.

Baird On Starbucks: The new CEO hire creates a more favorable risk-reward for Starbucks stock going forward, Tarantino said.
"While we acknowledge continued near-term risks related to the external operating environment, we believe Niccol brings a skill set that will prove valuable in strengthening internal operating fundamentals for the company, and set the stage for healthier growth in the years ahead," the analyst said. 
The sentiment around Starbucks stock should remain positive over the next few quarters, even if financial results are "lackluster,&#8221; he said. 
"We view Niccol as an exceptional executive based on his track record in driving robust results at Chipotle since he arrived in 2018, as well as his successful stints at YUM (including as CEO of Taco Bell) and Procter &amp; Gamble."
Niccol can leverage his brand management expertise to launch initiatives for Starbucks that could boost the financial performance, Tarantino said. 
Other Starbucks Takes: The hiring of Niccol by Starbucks could help the company with new products and advertising, said R.J. Hottovy, Placer.ai's head of analytical research.
Chipotle increased revenue by 14.1% and 18.2% year-over-year in the first and second quarter, respectively, compared to Starbucks' revenue falling 2% and 1%, respectively, in the first and second quarters on a year-over-year basis, Hottovy said. 
"Brian Niccol has earned the reputation as one of the top innovators in the restaurant industry today. Niccol's ability to drive visits was apparent during his time at both Taco Bell and Chipotle, spurred by new menu innovations, engaging marketing campaigns, and improved restaurant operations.&#8221;

Activist investor Elliott Management, which has been <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/08/40313260/starbucks-stock-is-heating-up-monday-whats-going-on">building a stake </a>in the coffee chain, shared a statement on the CEO move Tuesday.
"Elliott has been engaged with Starbucks' Board over the past two months regarding our perspectives on the Company's key issues and we view today's announcement as a transformational step forward for the Company," Elliott Management said. "We welcome the appointment of Brian Niccol, and we look forward to continuing our engagement with the Board as it works toward the realization of Starbucks' full potential."
Elliott Management said it has confidence in long-term value-creation by Starbucks, calling the company "one of the world's most important brands."
Niccol took over as the CEO of Chipotle on March 5, 2018. Based on a split-adjusted price of $6.40 at open on Niccol's first day at the restaurant company, Chipotle shares are up 650.8% since that date as of Tuesday morning.
SBUX, CMG Price Action: Starbucks shares are up 23% to $94.83 on Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $71.55 to $107.66. Starbucks stock is down 1.2% year-to-date in 2024.
Chipotle stock is down 14% to $48.05 on Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $35.37 to $69.26. Chipotle shares are up 5.1% year-to-date in 2024.

This proposal is closely aligned with a plan recently put forth by the Biden administration. That plan aims to curb rising rents while more housing is under construction. The Biden plan, however, would exempt newly built units to avoid discouraging development. Harris did not address this nuance in her speech. Her message is hitting home with voters squeezed by rising housing costs. A May poll from Navigator, a Democratic-aligned group, showed broad support for curbing rent gouging by corporate landlords. These voters are crucial to the Democratic base. But while it's scoring points on the campaign trail, economists are sounding the alarm about the plan.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/24/08/40101676/nearly-50-economists-were-asked-how-they-feel-about-president-bidens-5-rent-cap-this-is-what-the">Most economists say</a> rent control, like Harris's plan, often does more harm than good. A review of over 200 studies on rent control revealed many negative consequences: lower housing quality, less availability, and a slowdown in new construction. Rent caps can shrink the housing supply and make conditions worse in existing rentals.

Kamala Harris' Promise To 'Take On Corporate Landlords And Cap Unfair Rent Increases' Is A Hit With Voters But A Miss With Economists

Jaguar Health Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JAGX#NASDAQ">JAGX</a>) shares are trading lower by 10% to $1.08 during Tuesday&#8217;s session after the company reported worse-than-expected <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/08/ac40335398/jaguar-health-reports-second-quarter-2024-financial-results">second-quarter results</a>.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Happened?</h2>
Jaguar Health posted a loss of $4.04 per share, which came in worse than the analyst consensus estimate of a loss of $1.11 per share. ]
The company reported quarterly sales of $2.72 million, falling short of the analyst consensus estimate of $3.94 million by 31%. However, this figure reflects a slight increase of 1.6% from the $2.68 million in sales reported in the same quarter of the previous year.
The company's Mytesi prescription volume rose by 5.2% from first-quarter 2024, though it saw a slight year-over-year decline. Financially, Jaguar reduced its net loss by $2.6 million to $9.5 million compared to second-quarter 2023.
Operating losses decreased by $0.9 million, and R&amp;D expenses fell by $0.6 million due to the winding down of its OnTarget clinical trial. The company meanwhile plans a commercial launch of its FDA-approved Gelclair in October 2024 and continues to develop treatments for rare diseases.

In the early 2000s, the people in Argentina&#39;s Chilecito Valley&nbsp;became a symbol of environmental resistance with their rally&nbsp;cry&nbsp;of &quot;Agua s&iacute;, oro no&quot; (Water yes, gold no). The area&#39;s&nbsp;residents vehemently&nbsp;opposed a large-scale mining project that sought to use millions of cubic meters of glacier water. The mining company&nbsp;finally abandoned its&nbsp;plans&nbsp;in 2007.
Then in 2018, the people in the <a href="https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g815503-Chilecito_Province_of_La_Rioja_Cuyo-Vacations.html">Chilecito Valley</a>&nbsp;turned their focus towards sustainable cannabis cultivation, embracing an environmentally friendly economic alternative to mega-mining.
<h3>The Best Wine...And The Best Cannabis</h3>
In an exclusive interview with Benzinga Cannabis, Benjamin Enrici, CEO of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/agrogeneticariojana/">Agrogenetica Riojana</a>&nbsp;talked about&nbsp;how cannabis is transforming the Valley. Founded in 2009, this mixed-capital company is part of a network of local greenhouses that provide plants and training to local farms.
&ldquo;We are in La Rioja, a small province, with a dry climate and lots of sunshine which is excellent for growing and processing pharma-grade cannabis. We see medical cannabis as an alternative for local producers, to command higher prices for their goods,&rdquo; says Enrici as we walked through the numerous greenhouses filled with experimental cannabis genetics from around the world.

&ldquo;We already make some of the best wines in the world, why not cannabis?&rdquo; said the agronomist referring to Argntina&#39;s&nbsp;world-renowned wines like Torrontes, Malbec, Tempranillo&nbsp;and Cabernet Franc, among others.
<h3>Made In The Chilecito Valley</h3>
Rather than centralizing production, the company connects a network of small and medium enterprises&nbsp;in the Valley&nbsp;with cannabis companies and investors, looking to conduct genetic experiments in controlled conditions.
Growing, processing&nbsp;and testing cannabis in controlled environments is hard, but being in the desert makes it a bit easier. Between the&nbsp;average temperature, humidity&nbsp;and absence of rainfall give mold, yeast, bacteria&nbsp;and plagues a hard time. Add&nbsp;those conditions&nbsp;to the skillset of local agronomists, farmers&nbsp;and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/05/38930615/sustainable-cannabis-in-coachella-valley-green-horizons-1m-sq-ft-facility-tommy-hilfiger-cpg-exp">organic cultivation methods</a>,&nbsp;the result is a giant cannabis lab.
Condors, parrots, finches&nbsp;and earthcreepers swirl around the greenhouses and lab where plants are reproduced in-vitro, dried&nbsp;and tested. The background sets the scene of a cowboy movie&nbsp;or a cactus convention as plants line&nbsp;up with shrubs, up and down the hills surrounding the Famatina glacier.
<h3>Chilecito&rsquo;s Problem</h3>
The Chilecito Valley is undergoing a process of extensive mechanization of olive and nut production, which requires less labor resulting in less jobs.
In addition, and counterintuitively, mechanization is making&nbsp;operations more expensive for small and medium farmers&nbsp;who end up renting their small&nbsp;plots of land to global food corporations, with operations that can span up to&nbsp;13,000 acres.
Although commodity output is higher now than ever, profits are not necessarily shared by local producers.
&ldquo;The problem is not automation, the problem is the lack of access to credit, and the low market value of some of the commodities we produce here. If our farmers can produce a high-quality specialty crop, in smaller plots of land, then they may have a chance to thrive here,&rdquo; Enrici explained.
<h3>An Agronomist Goes&nbsp;To California And Discovers Gold</h3>
In 2012 Enrici traveled to Davis, California, looking for pistachio seeds for&nbsp;Chilecito farmers. While there, he&nbsp;learned about&nbsp;the cannabis industry. The idea of bringing this crop to Argentina began to percolate.
It was not until 2021 that Agrogen&eacute;tica Riojana was able to<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39436658/cultivator-chronicles-genetic-advancements-in-cannabis-cultivation"> register a cannabis genetic variety </a>with the National Seed Institute, responsible for promoting the production and commercialization of seeds, ensuring their identity, and protecting the intellectual property.&nbsp;In 2024, the company became GMP and GFP certified, ensuring&nbsp;that high standards and&nbsp;farming practices are sustainable&nbsp;and socially responsible.
<h3>Growing Medicine In The Andes</h3>
To Chilecito workers and residents, cannabis was&nbsp;like a new thing.&nbsp;
Everyone knew about olive and nut&nbsp;cultivation, but&nbsp;cannabis was a different ball of wax.
Once viewed as the devil&#39;s lettuce,&nbsp;taboos fell by the wayside and the new crop&nbsp;pulled in&nbsp;the&nbsp;younger generation.&nbsp;
For 22-year-old Belen, whose college friends moved&nbsp;to Buenos Aires, cannabis became an opportunity to work in something different, where &ldquo;protocols are required, there is always something to learn.&rdquo;
As Belen puts it: &ldquo;I am in charge of cloning plants, I learned a lot working with the company. Many of my college friends work either in government or have left town to bigger cities to work and study.&rdquo;
For Roxana and Analia, who work with cannabis plants in their vegetative cycle, the industry became an alternative to providing care for others, working in the olive fields&nbsp;or cleaning houses for a living.
<h3>Chill, It&#39;s Just&nbsp;Medicinal Marijuana</h3>
Cannabis&nbsp;raised a few eyebrows at first. However,&nbsp;news of&nbsp;the benefits spread&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;and people&rsquo;s acceptance was in crescendo.
Santos, who works as a trimmer put&nbsp;it simply.&nbsp;&ldquo;I am a fourth generation&nbsp;agricultural worker&nbsp;in the Valley.&nbsp;I&#39;ve done this job for almost 30 years now. There&#39;s&nbsp;a lot I&#39;ve&nbsp;learned over the&nbsp;years that applies to cannabis...and what we don&#39;t&nbsp;know, we learn&nbsp;from the company&rsquo;s agronomist.&rdquo;&nbsp;
He added that attitudes&nbsp;soften when people&nbsp;realize&nbsp;it&#39;s medical. &ldquo;People sometimes raise their eyebrows when they hear the word cannabis, but everybody in town knows this is medicinal.&rdquo;&nbsp;

<h3>A Revolutionary Plan</h3>
What&#39;s happening&nbsp;in Chilecito is cannabis innovation, but it can be viewed as a plot or a plan&nbsp;to subvert history and change the equation for the town&#39;s people.
How you ask?&nbsp;Enrici explains.&nbsp;
&ldquo;What we do is work with companies who are willing to invest in research and development of cannabis genetics for medicinal purposes. We provide advice, technology&nbsp;and some infrastructure, while private capital builds out the cultivation site and associated services,&rdquo; he told Benzinga.
&ldquo;We collaborate in the design of experiments and pheno-hunting programs with private companies. We allow global companies to conduct research at a fraction of the cost of doing the same work in Europe, Canada, or anywhere else in the world. Companies pay a fee to operate in the area and have full disposition of their production.&rdquo;&nbsp;
Why Argentina?
&ldquo;Most of the companies here are on their way to register their cannabis genetics. Why? Because Argentina is one of two, if not the only country in the world, where you can patent a legal cannabis variety, at a fraction of the cost,&rdquo; Enrici said.
<h3>A Regional Supply Chain</h3>
Sipping mate from a straw, Enrici sits in his office looking at a map of Brazil. He&nbsp;sees the neighboring market as an&nbsp;opportunity for local cannabis producers to sell their goods at a higher price.
Agrogenetica has already launched a brand of pharmaceutical cannabis oil named &ldquo;<a href="https://www.infobae.com/economia/2023/09/07/federal-lanzaron-primer-aceite-de-cannabis-medicinal-integramente-producido-en-la-rioja/">Federal</a>,&rdquo; which is sold by prescription.
Now their goal is to bring high-quality&nbsp;and efficient cost structures across the border between the two countries.
With a population of 215 million, Brazil has the largest cannabis market in South America. The government has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39435078/brazil-on-the-brink-of-marijuana-decriminalization-supreme-court-to-decide-next-week">started to ease regulations </a>of hemp-derived products that contain CBD.
<h3>Crunching Numbers, Looking Inward</h3>
Beyond global markets, Enrici foresees a bright green future for local farmers if Argentina regulates the market of CBD flowers for patients enrolled in the Health Ministry&#39;s medical marijuana program.
&ldquo;We can produce a high-quality flower, tons of it, without <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/07/39992555/cannabis-sustainability-why-it-matters-and-how-to-achieve-it-with-practical-inexpensive-measures">impacting the environment </a>and we can place it on the shelves&nbsp;of patients throughout the country,&quot; Enrici said. &quot;We have the scale, quality, and consistency to outprice non-regulated products and protect public health.&rdquo;&nbsp;
And indeed, he seems to be right. Once these two Benzinga journalists wrapped up their interview and crunched the numbers, we found that a pound of cannabis flower can be produced 26 times cheaper in Chilecito Valley than by illegal grow operations in Argentina.
