<a href="https://www.aon.com/">Aon plc</a> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AON#NYSE">AON</a>), a leading global professional services firm, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire the in-house insurance agency business of Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG) enhancing Aon's risk and health capability offering in Japan.
The in-house insurance agency operates as part of Dia Rix, an in-house business services provider to MCG. Aon will acquire the insurance agency business which provides corporate and personal lines insurance to MCG group companies and employees in Japan. The divestiture will allow MCG to divert resources and investment to its core business while leveraging the global risk management capabilities of Aon to strengthen its global governance.
Following the close of the transaction, the team will transition to Aon's brand and operating model, under the leadership of Tatsuya Yamamoto, head of Aon in Japan, bringing together a combined team of more than 400 colleagues.
Anne Corona, CEO for Aon in Asia Pacific said: "This acquisition reinforces our investment in Japan as an important market for Aon. The existing synergies we share with Dia Rix in terms of capability and culture will allow us to better serve MCG as well as strengthen broader capability and development opportunities for colleagues at the combined firm."

President-elect Donald Trump dropped an economic bombshell Monday, announcing plans to slap hefty tariffs on key U.S. trade partners once he returns to the White House <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">on Jan. 20. </a>
Trump pledged 25% tariffs on all Mexican and Canadian imports and an additional 10% levy on Chinese goods, which would remain in place until drugs, and in particular fentanyl, will stop entering the U.S.
&#8220;Thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing crime and drugs at levels never seen before,&#8221; Trump wrote on Truth Social.
&#8220;On January 20th, as one of my many first executive orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% tariff on ALL products coming into the United States. This tariff will remain in effect until such time as drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all illegal aliens stop this Invasion of our country!&#8221;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Markets React: Peso And Loonie Hit Hard</h3>
Currency markets were the immediate shock absorber of the news. The Canadian dollar, tracked by the Invesco CurrencyShares Canadian Dollar Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FXC#NYSE">FXC</a>), nosedived 0.8%, breaching the 1.41 level against the U.S. dollar — a low not seen since April 2020.
The Mexican peso didn't fare much better, sliding 0.9% to 20.50 against the greenback, while the Chinese yuan slumped 0.4% to a four-month low.
Robin Brooks, economist at the Brookings Institution, warned that this may only be the beginning. "The Mexican Peso is down 1.5% after tonight&#8217;s tariff news from the president-elect. To put this fall in perspective, the Mexican peso fell 10% in just a few days right after Trump's surprise win in 2016. So this fall is small and only the beginning of a sorely needed repricing."
The iShares MSCI Mexico ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EWW#NYSE">EWW</a>) fell 1.5% in premarket trading on Tuesday.
James Thorne, a market strategist at Wellington Altus, questioned the practicality of Trump's rhetoric. "Do you really think Mr. Trump will put a 25% tariff on Canadian Sour Crude Oil?" Thorne wrote. "Recall it's mixed with Sweet Shale oil and then refined. Constraint of US refining capacity. Think about that for 1 minute."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">China In The Crosshairs: Fentanyl And Tariffs</h3>
Trump renewed his criticism of China, blaming the country for America's fentanyl epidemic.
&#8220;I have had many talks with China about the massive amounts of drugs, in particular Fentanyl, being sent into the United States—But to no avail," Trump said. 
He accused Chinese officials of failing to deliver on promises to crack down on drug dealers, stating, "Until such time as they stop, we will be charging China an additional 10% tariff, above any additional tariffs, on all of their many products coming into the United States of America."
The tariffs, according to Trump, would serve as a dual-purpose weapon: curbing illegal drug imports and bolstering his "America First" economic policy.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bill Ackman: Trump Is Using Tariffs As Weapon</h3>
Prominent investor Bill Ackman chimed in on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that Trump's tariffs are less about trade and more about leverage. 
"To be clear, according to Trump, the 25% tariffs will not be implemented, or if implemented will be removed, once Mexico and Canada stop the flow of illegal immigrants and fentanyl into the U.S.," Ackman said. 
"In other words, Donald Trump is going to use tariffs as a weapon to achieve economic and political outcomes which are in the best interest of America, fulfilling his America First policy."

This week, Goldman Sachs analyst Tina Hou downgraded NIO from&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">Neutral to Sell</a> and lowered the price target from&nbsp;$4.80&nbsp;to&nbsp;$3.90, citing competitive pressures <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">and a difficult path to profitability ahead</a>.

BBWI&#8217;s third-quarter adjusted earnings per share of 49 cents, beating the analyst consensus of 47 cents. Quarterly sales of $1.610 billion, a growth of 3.1% year-over-year, above the street view of $1.579 billion.
Gina Boswell, CEO of Bath &amp; Body Works, commented, &#8220;Our strong results exceeded the high end of our net sales and earnings per diluted share guidance. As a result, we are raising our full-year guidance to fully reflect this outperformance.&#8221;
The company raised fiscal 2024 guidance and now expects net sales to decline 2.5% – 1.7% (prior view: decline of 4% – 2%), including a 100-basis-point headwind from the 53rd week in 2023. Adjusted earnings per share are projected at $3.15 – $3.28 (prior view $3.06 – $3.26) versus the $3.18 consensus.
Bath &amp; Body Works shares gained 16.5% to close at $35.78 on Monday.

This upward momentum is reinforced by the eight-day simple moving average (SMA) of $137.40, the 20-day SMA at $134.40 and the 50-day SMA at $126.41, all pointing to continued bullish strength. 
Additionally, the stock remains well above its 200-day SMA of $122.23, underscoring long-term upward momentum.
However, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) at 4.36 confirms the bullish trend, and the RSI of 66.17 indicates strong buying momentum, the RSI&#8217;s proximity to overbought territory suggests a risk of bearish consolidation. 
Slight selling pressure also hints at potential near-term volatility. While the trend remains firmly bullish, investors should monitor for signs of cooling off as the stock approaches overbought levels.

Dell's 93% Rally Hits Q3 Crossroads – What's Next For The Stock?

Canopy Growth Corporation (TSX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WEED#TSX">WEED</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CGC#NASDAQ">CGC</a>) announced on Tuesday that its board of directors has named Luc Mongeau as the company's next chief executive officer, effective Jan. 6, 2025.
Mongeau, a CPG veteran and board member at the Canadian cannabis giant, succeeds CEO David Klein, who announced his plans to retire in August.
Klein, who <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/08/40417074/head-of-canadian-cannabis-giant-canopy-growth-to-retire-at-the-end-of-this-fy">joined</a> Canopy Growth in January 2020, led the Ontario-based company through transformation and development to meet opportunities within the global cannabis market.
&#8220;Under his leadership, the company established a foundation for multi-market cannabis leadership through its transformation to an asset-light model in Canada and across a range of international markets, including Germany,&#8221; the company said in a press release. &#8220;In addition, Mr. Klein oversaw the launch and advancement of Canopy USA as a first-of-its-kind structure to offer the Company's shareholders unique exposure to the rapid growth and opportunity presented by the U.S. cannabis market ahead of federal permissibility.&#8221;

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">New CEO</h3>
Mongeau, who has over 25 years&#8217; experience as a senior executive, has most recently served as the CEO of North America&#8217;s e-commerce provider for residential and commercial furniture ESolutions Furniture, formerly Bestar-Bush. He previously held the role of president for Weston Foods as well as president of Mars Petcare North America.
Mongeau joined Canopy as an observer in early 2023 and as a board member in Feb. 2024.
The new appointment comes simultaneously with the company's influence extending in the U.S. via Canopy USA, LLC.
The new U.S.-domiciled holding company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/22/10/29418334/this-is-how-its-done-why-is-canopys-us-consolidation-plan-blueprint-for-other-canad">first introduced</a> in 2022, represents Canopy Growth's strategy for capturing the U.S. cannabis market. The business strategy, which included acquisitions of Wana Brands and Jetty, as well as holding a minority stake in TerrAscend Corp. (TSX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSND#TSX">TSND</a>) (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSNDF#OTCQX">TSNDF</a>), also includes the acquisition of Acreage Holdings, Inc. (CSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ACRG#CSE">ACRG</a>, ACRG.B.U)) (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ACRHF#OTCQX">ACRHF</a>, ACRDF)) which is expected to close in early 2025, according to Canopy.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What's Next</h3>
Mongeau will continue serving as a member of the board in his new role as CEO.
To support an efficient transition, Klein will continue in his role as CEO and a director on the board until the effective date of Mongeau&#8217;s appointment as CEO.
On Jan. 6, 2025, Klein will step down as a member of the board and will shift into a special advisor role until Aug. 31, 2025.
