U.S. stock futures rose on Monday after Friday&#8217;s sharp fall as investors digested the tariff updates and earnings reports. All four benchmark indices were trading higher.
Investors will look out for inflation data slated to be released on Wednesday this week.
The week&#8217;s corporate earnings calendar features a mix of companies across various sectors. Consumer-focused giants like McDonald&#8217;s Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MCD#NYSE">MCD</a>), Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KO#NYSE">KO</a>), and Shopify Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SHOP#NYSE">SHOP</a>) are set to report their financial results, alongside drugmakers Moderna Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRNA#NASDAQ">MRNA</a>) and Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VRTX#NASDAQ">VRTX</a>).
In the tech world, investors will be watching for updates from Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CSCO#NASDAQ">CSCO</a>) and Applied Materials Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMAT#NASDAQ">AMAT</a>), as well as platforms like Robinhood Markets Inc. All sectors of the S&amp;P 500 closed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43585561/dow-dips-over-400-points-following-tariffs-threat-investor-sentiment-declines-fear-greed-index-in-fear-zone">lower</a> on Friday, with communication services, consumer discretionary, and materials leading the losses. President Donald Trump announced that &#8216;reciprocal tariffs&#8217; would take effect next week, further escalating trade tensions.
Investor sentiment was impacted by a mixed January jobs report, heightened inflation expectations, and concerns over trade tariffs. The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey showed a sharp rise in inflation expectations, with the one-year outlook reaching 4.3%, its highest since November 2023.
Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) reported stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings, but its first-quarter sales guidance fell short of market expectations, forecasting net sales between $151 billion and $155.5 billion, below the $158.5 billion estimate.

According to the data underscored by Adam Turnquist, the chief technical strategist for LPL Financial, bullish sentiment has been gradually declining after remaining above average for most of last year.
"Currently, only about one-third of investors express a bullish outlook on stocks over the next six months, down approximately 8% from the previous week," he said.
However, Turnquist added that while sentiment is clearly not a science and usually follows price, the current degree of bearish sentiment could be considered a contrarian signal, "suggesting that the recent dip in stocks may have reached its low point."

Asian markets were mixed on Monday. Australia's ASX 200, South Korea's Kospi, and India's S&amp;P BSE Sensex index fell. Whereas, China's CSI 300, Hong Kong's Hang Seng, and Japan's Nikkei 225 index advanced. European markets were mostly higher in trade.
