While not every fry at the Golden Arches comes from Gates-owned land, his connection to the fast-food giant is undeniable. It's a full-circle story: Gates invests in farmland, some of that farmland grows potatoes and those potatoes may end up on McDonald's trays – where Gates can walk in, Gold Card in hand and order a free meal.&nbsp;
The McGold Card is a rarity, given only to a select few. Gates joins a small club of recipients that includes Warren Buffett and actor Rob Lowe. It's essentially a lifetime pass for free McDonald's food, a perk that's more amusing than practical for someone whose net worth sits comfortably north of $100 billion. ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ZIM#NYSE">ZIM</a>) shares are trading higher after it reported a&nbsp;third-quarter sales increase of&nbsp;117% year over year to&nbsp;$2.77&nbsp;billion,&nbsp;beating&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/n42084671/zim-reports-financial-results-for-the-third-quarter-of-2024-raises-full-year-2024-guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">the consensus of&nbsp;$2.43 billion</a>.
Revenue was driven by the increase in freight rates as well as carried volume. The cargo shipping company&#8217;s carried volume in the quarter was 970 thousand TEUs, up 12% Y/Y. The average freight rate per TEU was $2,480 (+118% Y/Y).

The Haifa, Israel-based company generated an EPS of&nbsp;$9.34, vs a loss of&nbsp;$18.90 last year,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">beating the consensus of&nbsp;$7.20</a>.
Operating cash flow for the nine months was&nbsp;$2.60&nbsp;billion, compared to&nbsp;$858&nbsp;million a year ago.&nbsp;Capital expenditures were&nbsp;$50&nbsp;million during the quarter versus&nbsp;$14&nbsp;million a year ago.
ZIM&#8217;s&nbsp;total cash position increased&nbsp;by&nbsp;$441&nbsp;million from&nbsp;$2.69&nbsp;billion as of&nbsp;December 31, 2023,&nbsp;to&nbsp;$3.13&nbsp;billion as of&nbsp;September 30, 2024.
ZIM&#8217;s&nbsp;net leverage ratio was 0.9x&nbsp;as of September-end, compared to 2.2x as of&nbsp;December 31, 2023.
Dividend: The Board of Directors declared a regular cash dividend of $340 million ($2.81 per share), representing 30% of third-quarter 2024 net income, and a special dividend of $100 million ($0.84 per share).
The total dividend of $440 million ($3.65 per share) will be payable on December 9, 2024, to shareholders of record as of December 2, 2024.
2024&nbsp;Outlook: ZIM raised the adjusted EBITDA&nbsp;outlook to $3.3 billion &#8211; $3.6 billion (from&nbsp;$2.6 billion &#8211; $3 billion) and adjusted EBIT to&nbsp;$2.15 billion &#8211; $2.45 billion <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">(from $1.45 billion &#8211; $1.85 billion&nbsp;prior)</a>.

Similarly, Moore Threads Technology co-founder Dong Longfei stressed the collaborative efforts needed between government, industry, and academia to advance domestic GPU production through alternative methods like chiplets.
The expo also addressed China&#8217;s challenges in developing cutting-edge semiconductor technology. Experts noted that Chinese fabs must catch up to Taiwan Semiconductor in advanced nodes, a gap exacerbated by export restrictions.
However, domestic companies are exploring innovative solutions to overcome these barriers and sustain competitiveness.
During the event, executives also discussed international partnerships, with Liu Yuanchao of the China Semiconductor Industry Association emphasizing the potential for collaboration between China and South Korea.

Amid growing semiconductor demand, Taiwan Semiconductor has seen rising sales from Shenzhen manufacturers producing smart hardware. However, the company&#8217;s recent move to limit services for Chinese clients using advanced nodes has amplified local firms&#8217; challenges as they strive to innovate while adapting to geopolitical pressures.
In November, the Biden government imposed sanctions on Taiwan Semiconductor, prohibiting advanced <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/24/11/41883357/taiwan-semiconductor-stock-drops-as-us-orders-halt-on-ai-chip-sales-to-china" rel="noreferrer noopener">AI chip sales to China</a>. Taiwan Semiconductor is advancing facilities in Arizona and Dresden while developing advanced packaging technologies like CoWoS and SoIC.
Capital expenditures could hit a record $34-$38 billion in 2025, driven by surging demand for high-tech semiconductor manufacturing.
Taiwan Semiconductor bagged <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42060003/taiwan-semiconductors-us-subsidy-boosts-a16-tech-production-in-arizona" rel="noreferrer noopener">$6.6 billion in</a> U.S. subsidies and proposed up to $5 billion in loans&nbsp;for A16 chip production in Arizona under the CHIPS&nbsp;Act.

The 6-figure deal is an expansion of the organization's ongoing agreement with Planet, and will allow Global Fishing Watch to fully leverage PlanetScope data and Machine Learning (ML) to improve ocean stewardship and foster greater compliance and accountability across all maritime sectors.
The new contract represents a significant expansion of Global Fishing Watch's PlanetScope monitoring coverage, providing 3-meter optical imagery spanning most of the world's coastlines. With this heightened capability, Global Fishing Watch aims to map small vessel activity across millions of square kilometers of the ocean as far from the shoreline as possible. This will allow the organization to greatly augment its ability to detect small vessels that are not using Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) or Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS), enabling more accurate determination of fishing activities and better support for ocean governance efforts around the world.
