As of this writing, it is up more than 52% for the day. This is a better performance than SoundHound AI (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/-stock-quote/"></a><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/soun-stock-quote/">SOUN</a>) or China&rsquo;s Tusimple Holdings (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsph-stock-quote/">TSPH</a>), both of which received larger investments from Nvidia. In fact, out of the five companies named, Nano-X is the chipmaker&rsquo;s smallest position, encompassing only 379,856 shares.



This comes at a time when the company certainly needed a boost. NNOX stock has been declining since the summer of 2023, failing to demonstrate any sustainable growth. The company managed to hover among penny stock status but could never stay too far above it, rarely rising above $6 per share. Now, NNOX is nearing $10 and could easily pass it today. 



This performance led to a negative sentiment from many experts. In September 2023, as NNOX continued trending downward, InvestorPlace contributor Chandler Capital <a href="https://investorplace.com/2023/09/ticking-time-bombs-3-biotech-stocks-to-dump-before-the-damage-is-done/">issued a bearish take</a> on the stock, speculating:

In a report for the 2023 fiscal year filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company <a href="https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001045810/4b0dec87-dde5-41c3-9f4b-b0157a47d2af.pdf">revealed positions</a> in five smaller companies, revealing what its leaders saw as the best stocks to buy over the past year. 



This list included companies, both large and small, including penny stock SoundHound (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/soun-stock-quote/">SOUN</a>). However, thanks to <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/nvidia-is-betting-on-soundhound-ai-soun-stock/">Nvidia&rsquo;s investment</a>, it may not be trading below the $5 mark for long. Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives i<a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/soundhound-stock-price-nvidia-investment-artificial-intelligence-ai-stock-market-rally-2024-2">ssued the following take</a> in a note to investors today:

While antitrust pressure ultimately stopped it, that didn&rsquo;t stop Nvidia from acquiring a sizable chunk of the company. According to the <a href="https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001045810/4b0dec87-dde5-41c3-9f4b-b0157a47d2af.pdf">13F filing</a>, it currently owns 1,960,784 shares of ARM stock, a total value of $147,343,114.

However, NNOX stock <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/nano-x-imaging-nnox-stock-soars-50-on-nvidia-investment/">surged more than 50% </a>this morning and has barely dipped, indicating that its ride isn&rsquo;t over yet. If Nvidia bought its shares anytime after the summer of 2023, then it likely acquired NNOX at a discounted price, making it a highly strategic investment. It seems that the tech giant knows which stocks to buy when they are on a dip.



This could be the turning point that Nano-X needs to start making up the ground it has lost since then. Her funds <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/01/cathie-wood-is-betting-big-on-recursion-pharmaceuticals-rxrx-stock/">purchased 74,000 shares</a> of RXRX stock, making it a <a href="https://ark-funds.com/funds/arkg/">top 10 holding</a> in its ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (BATS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/arkg-stock-quote/">ARKG</a>). The list of prominent names throwing their weight behind Recursion only seems to be growing.

Even in the throes of the AI boom, it&rsquo;s been hard for SoundHound AI to find real momentum. This penny stock has seen some growth during the AI gold rush, but it has still struggled to demonstrate any real growth. However, Nvidia&rsquo;s bet on SOUN stock sent it soaring, pushing shares up by more than 50% today. While it still trades at penny stock levels, if this growth continues, it could easily rise above $5 per share soon. As InvestorPlace contributor Jeremy Flint reports:

The company is bringing AI into oft-overlooked fields within voice recognition, like helping restaurant operations&nbsp;<a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/soundhound-ai-soun-boosts-restaurants-163200299.html">improve order flow</a>&nbsp;through AI voice assistance. Voice recognition is a small but growing field, and as AI stocks like SOUN show us, the total addressable market is as wide as a company can adapt its tech to serve.&rdquo;




Flint speculated that SoundHound could become the next Palantir Technologies (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pltr-stock-quote/">PLTR</a>). Nvidia evidently agrees with that analogy, as it has purchased 1,730,883 shares of SOUN stock. This type of endorsement could be exactly what the small-cap company needs to show investors that it is worth betting on.



<h2>Stocks to Buy: TuSimple Holdings (TSPH)</h2>

Nvidia&rsquo;s bet on this Chinese autonomous trucking technology company likely turned some heads for one reason: TuSimple (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsph-stock-quote/">TSPH</a>) is a microcap stock that trades at much lower levels than even SoundHound, with a market cap of just over $105 million. Even after rising almost 35%, TSPH still trades at only $0.48 per share. However, Nvidia clearly saw it as a key opportunity to buy a company with high growth potential on a dip. It finished 2023 with 3,465,372 TuSimple shares. The fact that this stock has spent the past six months bleeding out 70% further suggests that Nvidia is optimistic about its growth prospects. 



For all that, investors should be careful to account for TuSimple&rsquo;s progress. In June 2023, it <a href="https://ir.tusimple.com/press-releases/news-details/2023/TuSimple-Becomes-First-to-Successfully-Operate-Driver-Out-Fully-Autonomous-Semi-truck-on-Open-Public-Roads-in-China/default.aspx">became the first company</a> to successfully operate a fully autonomous semi-truck on China&rsquo;s open road. With a strong presence in both China and the United States, the company is well-positioned to secure a piece of a <a href="https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/02/06/2824047/28124/en/Global-Autonomous-Trucks-Market-Outlook-Report-2024-Enhancing-Road-Safety-and-Meeting-the-Rising-Demand-for-Logistics-from-the-Boom-of-in-e-Commerce-Amid-a-Driver-Shortage.html">fast-growing</a> market.

Earlier this week, the <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/05/what-is-chubb-7-things-to-know-about-the-warren-buffett-mystery-stock/">deadline for regulatory disclosures</a> sparked much intrigue regarding certain institutional investors. Among them was technology juggernaut Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nvda-stock-quote/">NVDA</a>). Curiously, the company abandoned its stake in TuSimple (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsph-stock-quote/">TSPH</a>), an enterprise that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate autonomous driving for semi-trucks. Previously, TSPH stock soared when Nvidia earlier disclosed owning a small position.



For the fourth quarter&rsquo;s <a href="https://whalewisdom.com/filer/nvidia-corp">13F disclosure</a> filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nvidia revealed that it owned around 3.47 million shares of TSPH stock. The market value of these shares amounted to $3.04 million or 87.7 cents per share. However, the estimated average buying price stood at approximately $1.12. per share. At the time, the position represented 1.32% of the semiconductor giant&rsquo;s portfolio.



However, for the latest Q1 disclosure, Nvidia publicized that it sold its entire position. From a money management perspective, the move made sense. On a year-to-date basis, TSPH stock is down nearly 62%. Over the past 52 weeks, it shed almost 76%. Thus, Nvidia may have wanted to avoid sending good money into bad.



<h2>Nvidia Dumping TSPH Stock Clashes with Prior Sentiment</h2>



While arguably sensible, the move by Nvidia is jarring. Back in mid-February of this year, the tech firm&rsquo;s 13F disclosure for Q4 revealed the aforementioned position in TSPH stock. The publication of that stake sent TuSimple soaring as <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/15/nvidia-holdings-disclosure-pumps-up-shares-of-small-ai-companies.html#:~:text=Nvidia%20invested%20in%20TuSimple%20in,in%20public%20equity%2C%20or%20PIPE.">investors clamored for anything related to AI</a>, especially businesses involved with Nvidia.



Further, Nvidia <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2017/08/16/nvidia-invests-in-chinese-autonomous-trucking-startup-tusimple/">invested in TSPH stock in 2017</a>, four years before TuSimple&rsquo;s initial public offering. Likely, this information bolstered investor sentiment, even though TSPH has turned wildly volatile since late 2021.



In early 2022, TuSimple generated headlines when it revealed a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/self-driving-truck-company-tusimple-use-nvidia-chips-autonomous-computing-2022-01-04/">partnership</a> with Nvidia. The deal involved using the chipmaker&rsquo;s semiconductors to design and build an autonomous driving system for self-driving trucks.



Unfortunately for speculators, the once-promising relationship appears to be ending. Early this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Department of Commerce <a href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/tusimple-china-company-chip-shipment-investigation-13e362be">stopped a shipment</a> of 24 Nvidia chips bound for one of TuSimple&rsquo;s subsidiaries in Australia.



Although advanced U.S. chips can be sent to Australia, the Biden administration&rsquo;s policies prohibit transfers of such products to China. Federal investigations previously targeted TuSimple amid concerns that it was transferring technology to China.



<h2>Why It Matters</h2>



Since its public market debut, TSPH stock has lost more than 99%, per data from Google Finance. It&rsquo;s one of the worst implosions of market value. In April 2021, Reuters noted that TuSimple <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN2C21A6/">raised over $1 billion in its initial public offering</a> (IPO). At the time, the deal valued the company at nearly $8.5 billion.
