The retired mortgage manager from Oakdale, Minnesota, earns up to $47 an hour putting together Ikea and other types of furniture, a gig that he says brings in $3,000 to $5,000 a month.
Dan told Business Insider that he retired in 2014 after decades of managing residential mortgage branches. At first, retirement seemed like a well-earned break, but it didn't take long for him to feel the absence of structure in his daily life. "Going from 100 mph to 0 was very abrupt," Dan says. After six months of traditional retirement, he sought something to keep himself busy while avoiding dipping too heavily into his savings. According to Nationwide&#8217;s Protected Retirement Survey, 82% of Americans over 45 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/24/12/42499922/americans-regret-retirement-prep-as-advisors-rethink-2025-strategies">regret not taking retirement planning seriously earlier</a>. While he's glad his TaskRabbit income supplements his savings, he's also aware that better planning might have eased some of the pressure.

TaskRabbit At 79? A Retired Mortgage Manager Assembles Furniture For $47 An Hour, Pulling In $3,000 To $5,000 A Month

Crypto analyst Anthony Pompliano, founder of Pomp Investments, remains optimistic about Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) despite its recent drop below the $100,000 milestone. 
What Happened: In a recent interview with FOX 5, Pompliano predicted that "2025 will continue to be a great year for Bitcoin."
Pompliano outlined two key factors driving Bitcoin's future growth. "One, you're going to continue to get printing of money both in the United States and globally. And then two is you have a Federal Reserve that is cutting interest rates," he said. 
During the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjqw8hGkDL8">interview</a>, he shared that the increasing M2 money supply and cheaper capital from lower interest rates are likely to fuel market gains. 
Pompliano also discussed why Bitcoin's growth and market cap expansion have made it more attractive to institutional investors.

"When Bitcoin was at $1,000, large capital pools viewed it as too small and risky," he explained. However, Bitcoin's rise to a $2 trillion market cap has changed perceptions. "Now all of a sudden everyone's like, ‘Wait a second, I can put money in it. It's derisked.'"
He noted that as Bitcoin's price climbs, more institutional capital is likely to flow into the asset. "As large pools of capital come in to buy a finite-supply asset, price should continue to go up," Pompliano said, emphasizing Bitcoin's limited supply as a key driver of its long-term value.
Despite its recent volatility, Pompliano's outlook underscores the growing institutional acceptance of Bitcoin and its potential to achieve greater heights as a premier digital asset.

&#8220;Too often, OSA is brushed off as &#8216;just snoring,'&#8221; said Julie Flygare, CEO of Project Sleep, in Eli Lilly&#8217;s press release. The condition affects an estimated 80 million Americans, with 20 million experiencing moderate-to-severe forms.

House conservatives are pressuring Speaker Mike Johnson after a rocky week of negotiations and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/12/42624528/government-shutdown-threat-stocks-wobble-holiday-travel-and-paychecks-could-face-delays-what-you-need-to-know" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">infighting over a government spending bill</a>.
Johnson, who narrowly avoided a government shutdown, now faces intense scrutiny from his party with a speakership vote looming in two weeks, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/12/20/johnson-unsteady-speakership-time-00195784" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reports</a> Politico.
The Louisiana Republican is caught between President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the right wing of his party, and many in his conference are not satisfied with his leadership.
A few members have already vowed to oppose him, and others are openly questioning his ability to lead, especially after the contentious spending battle.
The conflict over the spending bill put Johnson at odds with several key figures, including Trump, who publicly criticized the funding plan before Johnson switched strategies.
Critics, including members of the Freedom Caucus, expressed frustration over the lack of communication and poor handling of the bill. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), a moderate, described the leadership&#8217;s actions as &#8220;completely unacceptable&#8221; and said there was &#8220;zero communication&#8221; between the leadership and members, Politico adds.

Others, like Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), have vowed to wait until January 3 to announce how they will vote on Johnson's speakership, reflecting the uncertainty about his future in the role.
Johnson did manage to get the spending bill passed with a relatively small number of defections, but the damage to his credibility may be long-lasting.
The incident has become a test of his ability to manage the fractious Republican conference, especially as the party looks to push ambitious legislation on the border and energy early in the new Congress, the report reads.
For many Republicans, Johnson's handling of this crisis will set the tone for how he leads in the future.
Some members believe Johnson still has a chance to rebuild his support, though the challenge remains formidable. If the situation doesn't improve, Johnson may face a leadership challenge, with names like Jim Jordan and Tom Emmer being floated as potential replacements.
Despite the turmoil, Johnson does have some allies, particularly within the House Freedom Caucus, who appreciate his fight to implement the Trump agenda.

The Path Not Taken:&nbsp;If the son of the legendary investor would have stayed in college and held onto his $90,000&nbsp;investment in Berkshire Hathaway, it would be worth over $400 million today.&nbsp;
"But I didn&#8217;t make that choice and I don&#8217;t regret it for a second.&nbsp;I used my nest egg to buy something infinitely more valuable than money: I used it to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/04/31687018/couple-uses-huge-airbnb-profits-to-buy-time-they-only-spend-1-hour-working-per-week">buy time</a>," Buffett said.&nbsp;
That's a decision that his father would be proud of, he noted. The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/billionaires">billionaire</a>&nbsp;taught his son that work isn't about making as much money as possible, instead it's about doing something that you love to do.
Buffett acknowledged that the money was a privilege, calling it a gift that he had not earned.
&#8220;Without those hundreds of unpaid hours spent fiddling with my recording gear, I would not have found my sound or approach," Buffett said.&nbsp;
The musician used the money to buy time to pursue something that he enjoys waking up and doing&nbsp;each day, which is exactly what his father tells young people to do. The billionaire has previously recommended that people pursue careers they would want even if money was not part of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/03/31592697/if-you-want-to-move-forward-and-make-better-decisions-you-need-to-remember-these-3-words">decision-making process</a>.&nbsp;

The electric vehicle sector is set to explode over the next 10&nbsp;years and the U.S. is looking to create a supply chain with Canada.

What Happened: Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), Talon Metals Corp. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/TLOFF#OTC">TLOFF</a>) and Livent Corp&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/LTHM#NYSE">LTHM</a>) were among 30 EV and battery manufacturers, in addition to&nbsp;mining companies, who met virtually with the U.S. Department of Commerce on Thursday, according to a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-mining-canada-exclusive/exclusive-u-s-looks-to-canada-for-minerals-to-build-electric-vehicles-documents-idUSKBN2BA2AJ?edition-redirect=uk">report by Reuters</a>.&nbsp;The group discussed how to boost the production of Canadian battery materials. Canada currently mines 13 of the 35 minerals needed to produce EV batteries.

Why It Matters: Acquisitions have already begun. On Nov. 5, 2020, Livent, a lithium hydroxide supplier to Tesla, <a href="https://ir.livent.com/news/news-details/2020/Livent-Releases-Third-Quarter-2020-Results/default.aspx">announced</a> it had acquired the business and certain assets of Nemaska Lithium Inc., located in Quebec.

There are a number of other Canadian companies mining scarce battery minerals that U.S. companies could be looking to buy.

Gratomic Inc&nbsp;(OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/CBULF#OTC">CBULF</a>), a Toronto-based graphite mining company, mines rare lump graphite at its Aukam Graphite Project,&nbsp;located in Namibia. The company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/21/03/19922131/this-canadian-graphite-miner-could-be-gearing-up-for-a-huge-year">plans to become</a> the largest vein graphite producer in the world and to enter the EV battery supply chain.

Gratomic has a market cap of $69.82 million and trades at $1.15 a share.

Canada Silver Cobalt Works Inc (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/CCWOF#OTC">CCWOF</a>), based in Quebec, mines cobalt, silver, nickel and copper. The company announced on Feb. 16 it acquired 39,200 hectares, approximately 151 square miles, of property with deposits of minerals for EVs.

Canada Silver Cobalt has a market cap of $42.32 million and trades at 35 cents per share.

Neo Lithium Corp&nbsp;(OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/NTTHF#OTC">NTTHF</a>), based in Quebec, owns a 3Q project in Argentina, which is one of the five largest lithium brine deposits in the world. On Jan. 19, Neo Lithium <a href="https://www.neolithium.ca/news-detail.php?id_news=66">announced</a>&nbsp;it had increased its lithium carbonate to a purity of 99.797%.

Neo Lithium has a market cap of $304.5 million and trades at $2.37 a share.

MegaWatt Lithium and Battery Metals Corp (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/WALRF#OTC">WALRF</a>), a British Columbia-based company mines a number of battery minerals including lithium and cobalt. Its largest lithium project, Route 381 Lithium, is located near the Nemaska Lithium Inc.&nbsp;mine and has produced promising lithium samples.

MegaWatt has a market cap of $3 million and trades at 35 cents a share.

Canadian Nickel Company Inc (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/CNIKF#OTC">CNIKF</a>), an Ontario mining company owns 100% of its Crawford mine. It is currently working to advance nickel-cobalt projects to the EV&nbsp;market.

Canadian Nickel has a market cap of $219.12 million and trades at $2.73 a share.
