Earnings Expectations
Nvidia, led by <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/11/41883803/nvidias-blackwell-chip-revenue-could-hit-6-billion-next-quarter-analyst">Jensen Huang</a><a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/11/41883803/nvidias-blackwell-chip-revenue-could-hit-6-billion-next-quarter-analyst"> has forecasted</a> third-quarter revenue of approximately $32.5 billion, driven by strong demand for its Hopper and Blackwell GPUs.
These GPUs are expected to bolster Nvidia's data center segment. The Blackwell units, priced between $30,000 and $40,000, are in high demand, with production ramping up in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Nvidia is fully supply-constrained on new products, which could limit the potential upside for the current quarter and the company&#8217;s outlook, said Joseph Moore, a Morgan Stanley analyst. Morgan Stanley maintains Nvidia as a top pick with an &#8216;overweight&#8217; rating, raising the price target from $150 to $160.

The incident, first <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/google-ai-chatbot-threatening-message-human-please-die/">reported</a> by CBS News, followed another incident where Character.AI&#8217;s chatbot allegedly influenced a teenager to commit suicide, as <a href="https://apnews.com/article/chatbot-ai-lawsuit-suicide-teen-artificial-intelligence-9d48adc572100822fdbc3c90d1456bd0">per</a> the Associated Press.

In response, Google acknowledged the incident in an emailed statement to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga</a> and then <a href="https://x.com/GeminiApp/status/1857586170483585461">on</a> X, formerly Twitter. The company confirmed that the response violated its policy guidelines, and stated that actions were taken to prevent similar occurrences.
&#8220;We take these issues seriously. Large language models can sometimes respond with nonsensical responses, and this is an example of that. This response violated our <a href="https://gemini.google/policy-guidelines/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">policies</a> and we've taken action to prevent similar outputs from occurring,&#8221; a Google spokesperson told <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga</a>.
The tech giant's investigation also concluded that the incident was isolated and not reflective of a systemic issue. However, Google acknowledged that it could not rule out the possibility of a malicious attempt to provoke the chatbot into generating inappropriate behavior.
Corrective measures have since been implemented to prevent Gemini from producing similar responses in the future.
