Nvidia's dominance in the AI-driven technology trade has turned its earnings into a barometer for overall market sentiment, and its influence on the stock market is unparalleled.
Over the past year, Nvidia accounted for 20% of the S&amp;P 500's total returns and Bank of America's derivatives analyst Gonzalo Asis didn't mince words: &#8220;It remains the most dominant stock in the market… expected to drive nearly 25% of the S&amp;P 500&#8217;s EPS growth in 3Q.&#8221;
In essence, whether Nvidia beats or misses expectations, the ripple effects will likely extend far beyond its ticker.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">S&amp;P 500 Implied Move Is Higher Than Inflation Or Jobs Data</h3>
The options market implies a potential 1.05% move in the S&amp;P 500—higher than what traders expect from next month's Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) data, Consumer Price Index (CPI) print, and in line with the Federal Reserve&#8217;s December meeting.
&#8220;Options are assigning more broad-market risk around NVDA earnings than around next month&#8217;s NFP and CPI days, and as much as the Dec FOMC,&#8221; the analyst noted.
For Nvidia shares themselves, the implied one-day move is even more eye-popping: 12.5%.
&#8220;We remain cautious of fragility risks in single names around earnings, but NVDA hedges themselves are not particularly cheap relative to how much the stock has reacted to results in the last two years,&#8221; Assis wrote.
The analyst also warned that the recent easing of post-election euphoria and heightened single-stock fragility can be reasons for traders to hedge against potential market turbulence if Nvidia disappoints.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Strategy For Hedging The Nasdaq Impact</h3>
For traders seeking to hedge the broader market risks tied to Nvidia&#8217;s performance, Bank of America recommended an option strategy using put spreads on the Nasdaq-100 ETF, the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>). Specifically, the QQQ 22Nov 490-480 put spreads are priced at $2 and could offer a 5x payout if the Nasdaq-100 falls by roughly 3.3% this week.
Despite the potential need for hedges, the bank also noted that hedging NVDA earnings directly is not cheap, considering how significantly the stock has reacted to its last few earnings reports.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Historical Nvidia Earnings Data</h3>
Data from <a href="https://bzresearch.myclickfunnels.com/benzinga-pro-content-webinar-registration/?utm_source=BZprocontent111824&amp;t=be2bearmibe3na1">Benzinga Pro</a> shows that over the last 12 quarters, Nvidia has exceeded earnings-per-share (EPS) expectations 10 times and missed revenue expectations only once. 
On average, Nvidia shares moved 5.3% in the single trading day following its earnings release.
The largest 1-day gain followed its first quarter 2024 earnings, when the stock surged 24.4%, while the worst reaction occurred after fourth quarter 2024 results, with a decline of 7.6%.

-The New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE", the "Exchange") announced today that the staff of NYSE Regulation has determined to commence proceedings to delist the common stock of Spirit Airlines, Inc. (the "Company") — ticker symbol SAVE — from the NYSE. Trading in the Company's common stock will be suspended immediately.
NYSE Regulation reached its decision that the Company is no longer suitable for listing pursuant to NYSE Listed Company Manual Section 802.01D after the Company's November 18, 2024 press release and Form 8-K disclosures that the Company has commenced a prearranged chapter 11 process in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. In reaching its delisting determination, NYSE Regulation notes the Company disclosed that all of the Company's existing common stock and other equity interests will be cancelled without any distributions to the holders of such common stock and other equity interests on account thereof.
The Company has a right to a review of this determination by a Committee of the Board of Directors of the Exchange. The NYSE will apply to the Securities and Exchange Commission to delist the common stock upon completion of all applicable procedures, including any appeal by the Company of the NYSE Regulation staff's decision.

Omnicell shares are trading lower after the company announced a proposed private placement of $150 million in convertible senior notes.

Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OMCL#NASDAQ">OMCL</a>) ("Omnicell") today announced that it intends to offer, subject to market conditions and other factors, $150.0 million aggregate principal amount of Convertible Senior Notes due 2029 (the "notes") in a private placement (the "offering") to persons reasonably believed to be qualified institutional buyers pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the "Securities Act"). Omnicell also intends to grant the initial purchasers of the notes an option to purchase, during a 13-day period beginning on, and including, the first date on which the notes are issued, up to an additional $22.5 million aggregate principal amount of notes.
The notes will be general unsecured, senior obligations of Omnicell, will accrue interest payable semiannually in arrears and will mature on December 1, 2029, unless earlier converted, redeemed or repurchased. Upon conversion, Omnicell will pay cash up to the aggregate principal amount of the notes to be converted and pay or deliver, as the case may be, cash, shares of Omnicell's common stock or a combination of cash and shares of Omnicell's common stock, at Omnicell's election, in respect of the remainder, if any, of Omnicell's conversion obligation in excess of the aggregate principal amount of the notes being converted. The interest rate, initial conversion rate, redemption or repurchase rights and other terms of the notes will be determined at the time of pricing of the offering.

Donald Trump was viewed as the more pro-cryptocurrency presidential candidate in the 2024 election and his support for crypto could get another push with a report that his media company is acquiring a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/01/19071375/spac-surges-64-on-report-of-merger-talks-with-ice-owned-crypto-exchange-bakkt"> cryptocurrency trading company.</a>
What Happened: Shares of Bakkt Holdings (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BKKT#NASDAQ">BKKT</a>) are soaring Monday on reports the cryptocurrency company, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/04/20550003/3-cryptocurrency-spacs-that-could-run-on-a-successful-coinbase-ipo">which went public </a>in October 2021 via SPAC merger, is being acquired by Trump Media &amp; Technology Group (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DJT#NASDAQ">DJT</a>).
The media company co-founded by Trump, which owns the Truth Social platform, is in advanced talks to acquire Bakkt, <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/d7f921d5-3668-4b6b-a98d-2681ad73610f">according </a>to the Financial Times. The report said Trump Media &amp; Technology Group would acquire the cryptocurrency company, which is backed by Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ICE#NYSE">ICE</a>), in an all-share deal.
Benzinga reached out to Trump Media &amp; Technology Group for comment on the report and will update the story accordingly. Benzinga has also contacted Bakkt for comment. 
Bakkt's first CEO was Kelly Loeffler, who was previously a member of the U.S. Senate, representing the state of Georgia as a Republican. Loeffler is helping to organize Trump's inauguration in January and has close ties to the president-elect.
The Intercontinental Exchange, which owns the New York Stock Exchange, owns a reported 55% of Bakkt. The exchange company would have to give approval to any such sale to the Trump media company.

An acquisition of Bakkt would push Trump's media company and the president-elect deeper into the cryptocurrency sector, which comes after he promoted a crypto venture called World Liberty Financial with business partners.
BKKT, DJT Price Action: Bakkt stock was halted several times after the report and ended Monday&#8217;s session 163.04% higher at $29.71 versus a 52-week trading range of $5.57 to $68.75. Bakkt shares are down 44% year-to-date in 2024.
