New York apartments are pricey, but if you have the money, you could live in the residence pop icon Taylor Swift called home while renovating her $50 million Tribeca loft in 2016.
Swift reportedly rented the three-story West Village apartment that inspired her song "Cornelia Street" for $39,500 per month. After she moved out, the advertised rent was $45,000 per month. The property was for sale earlier this year with an asking price of $17.9 million.
The song reportedly documents the early days of Swift's romance with ex Joe Alwyn, with the lyrics revealing that "if you ever walk away, I'd never walk Cornelia Street again."

While most folks would be hard-pressed to afford the rent or purchase price of the 5,500-square-foot three-story residence, even getting a modest New York City apartment is costly.
The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in New York City is now a record-breaking $4,080 — 29% more than second-place Jersey City, New Jersey. In Swift's former West Village neighborhood, a 500-square-foot studio on Cornelia Street goes for $3,985 and includes amenities like a dishwasher and air conditioning as well as onsite laundry, a fitness center and a swimming pool, according to Zumper.

If you have $4,000 per month to spend on rent, you'll get more bang for your buck in other cities.
In Milwaukee, for example, you can rent a nearly 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bath penthouse apartment for $3,900 per month, and in Scottsdale, Arizona, a $3,700 monthly payment will get you an 1,896-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath home with vaulted ceilings and tile floors throughout.
A three-bedroom, two-bath home in Las Vegas that rents for $4,000 per month has a large backyard with a jacuzzi and is minutes from the Raiders stadium, Las Vegas Strip and the airport, and in Columbus, Ohio, you can call a two-story house with four bedrooms and three bathrooms home for $3,500 per month.
Although Swift no longer rents the West Village apartment, she still has plenty of other residences to choose from in her $150 million real estate portfolio, including homes in Beverly Hills, California, and Holiday House on the highest point in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.
