Is a love of the outdoors really a good enough reason to part with your New York City dream home? Apparently so – that and a $14 million price tag.

Andy Cohen is royalty at cable TV station Bravo, where he produces the insanely popular Real Housewives franchise. Over the last two decades, he has also overseen the assembly of an urban palace by buying up four apartments over two floors in a curated West Village fantasy pad. The TV exec, who also hosts the popular talk show “Watch What Happens Live,” explained why he ended his two-decade relationship with his home.

Don't Miss:

“Outdoor space was the decision! I always have coveted outdoor space,” he told People Magazine.

By staying in his West Village neighborhood, he got exactly what he wanted.

Staying In The West Village

“There is a dearth of inventory in the West Village with outdoor space,” Cohen explains. “So when I found something that was meaningful enough for me to leave my dream apartment, which is where I’m living now – my apartment that I built and spent so many years building – that’s what it took.”

It doesn’t hurt that Cohen listed his home – a 3,500-square-foot, three-bedroom, four-full-bathroom duplex nestled in the corner of a historic prewar building – in September with friend and fellow Reality TV star Ryan Serhant. The lofty listing price of $14 million might raise eyebrows, but Serhant – the star of his own Netflix reality show, Owning Manhattan – guarantees maximum exposure and, if his show is anything to go by, he often gets his asking price or close to it.

“It took Andy nearly two decades to make this place what it is today," Serhant told People Magazine in typical sales fashion, “by combining four homes, which is what makes it so special. Opportunities like this don’t just happen in New York City. Whoever buys this home is truly getting a once-in-a-lifetime deal.”

A Legacy Of TV Success

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Cohen is worth $50 million, making most of his money from the Real Housewives franchise and several books, including The New York Times Bestseller “Most Talkative: Stories from the Front Lines of Pop Culture” and as a TV host. He was also an executive producer for Top Chef. He began his TV career as an intern at CBS before going on to produce The Early Show and 48 hrs. After five years at cable channel Trio, he moved to Bravo in 2005.

Star Maker

Cohen has helped make many of his Real Housewives cast members multimillionaires. Some of the stars have gone on to open lucrative businesses based on their fame from the show. One of the most successful was RHONY star Bethenny Frankel, who launched her Skinny Girl drinks company on the back of the show and sold her Skinnygirl Cocktails to Beam Global for an estimated $100 million in 2011.

A Modest Portfolio Of Exclusive Personal Properties

Unlike many of his RH cast members, Cohen does not possess a vast real estate portfolio. He makes selective but pricey purchases. In March 2019, Cohen purchased a half-acre oceanfront lot – with 125 feet of ocean frontage – in the coveted Hamptons community of Amagansett for $5.4 million, having negotiated it down from $6 million. He purchased his new primary residence in 2022, a New York City penthouse, for $18.3 million.
