Media entrepreneur Alex Cooper purchased a Los Angeles home for her parents following her $125 million deal with SiriusXM. This is another real estate acquisition for the podcast host, who bought her own $10.7 million Studio City residence in 2022.
Cooper and her husband, producer Matt Kaplan, selected a New England-style property 10-15 minutes from their Studio City home. The purchase allows Cooper’s parents, Bryan and Laurie, to relocate from their Newtown, Pennsylvania, residence, where they’ve lived since 1993.
“It’s such a New England house to its core. My parents are from the East Coast. We love the New England style. I remember walking into this home and seeing it for the first time and thinking, ‘This is my mother,'” Cooper said on her podcast “Call Her Daddy.”

The property caught Cooper’s attention during a summer house-hunting trip. She placed an offer without her parents’ knowledge while they visited Los Angeles to view potential homes.
According to Realtor.com, the purchase follows Cooper’s three-year SiriusXM contract signed in August, which doubled her previous $60 million Spotify deal. Cooper and Kaplan launched their media company, Trending, in 2023, adding to their entertainment industry portfolio.
Cooper’s own Los Angeles real estate journey began in 2022 when she and Kaplan acquired their Studio City home. The couple undertook extensive renovations, with Kaplan leading the design decisions.
“I was a little overwhelmed by how much of an undertaking it would be, because [the home] was not our style whatsoever,” Cooper told Architectural Digest about their Studio City property. “It was so far from our taste that it allowed us to tailor every single room to our liking.”
The Los Angeles real estate market adds context to Cooper’s purchases. According to local market data, the median home price in Studio City reached $1.4 million in late 2024, while surrounding areas averaged $1.2 million.
Despite broader market slowdowns, the region’s luxury segment remains active, with high-end properties particularly appealing to entertainment industry buyers.
The family’s Pennsylvania property, a four-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home, remains unlisted. Cooper’s parents plan to complete their cross-country move after renovations on the new Los Angeles property finish in early 2024.
Cooper, 30, rose to fame through her podcast work at Barstool Sports before securing major streaming platform deals. Her show features interviews with figures including Gwyneth Paltrow, Miley Cyrus, Heidi Klum and Vice President Kamala Harris.
