Drake Finally Confirmed As The Buyer Of $15 Million Taxes Ranch Near Brenham To Add To His Splashy Real Estate Portfolio

Rapper Drake bought a $15 million Dos Brisas ranch near Brenham, Texas. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the veteran MC, who is worth $250 million, had long been rumored to be the unnamed party interested in the estate. The purchase was confirmed by roundtop.com.

The sprawling 313-acre ranch is located 45 minutes outside Houston in Washington County. The home was previously owned by Jennifer and Doug Bosch and used as a retreat known as The Inn at Dos Brisas in Chappell Hill. The Relais & Châteaux restaurant, located within the estate, was once the only Forbes five-star rated eatery in all of Texas.

Don't Miss:

Drake, a famously big sports game gambler, appeared to confirm the purchase via his Instagram account, which showed him in a cowboy hat at a bar with the caption, “IN HONOR OF ME RECENTLY ACQUIRING A PLACE IN TEXAS.” The Inn shut down in 2022 after a COVID-related loss of business and was originally listed in April 2022 for $17.5 million.

YOLO Estate

Drake’s acquisition marks the latest addition to a glittering, high-priced real estate portfolio, which the rapper has modified over the years. In 2012, he purchased a Hidden Hills, California, home for $7.7 million in cash. Known euphemistically as the YOLO Estate (You Only Live Once), it contains a 12,000-square-foot main house and a 2,000-square-foot party house, as well as equestrian facilities, sports courts and one of the largest privately owned pools in Southern California with a Playboy Mansion-type grotto.

Originally listed for $27 million in 2009, when the owner ran into financial problems, Drake bought it three years later at a $20 million discount. Drake added two neighboring estates for $2.8 and $4.5 million, respectively and sold them in 2022 for $11 million to NFL star Matthew Stafford. In July 2022, Drake sold the third parcel for $12 million, according to multiple sources, including Mansion Global.

Toronto Mansion

In 2016, Drake purchased a plot of land in suburban Toronto for $6.7 million, on which he built a 50,000-square-foot mansion featured in Architectural Digest. He also owns a condo in Downtown Toronto.

$90 Million Beverly Hills Mansion

Despite this, Drake’s most prominent real estate extravagance was the March 8, 2022, purchase of a $90 million Beverly Hills mansion sitting on a 20-acre estate from British singer Robbie Williams, apparently bought at a discount of $75 million in an off-market deal. However, the deal – bought under a corporate entity, 11Kip LLC, with a $52.5 million mortgage with Bank of America with Drake putting down 30% or $22.5 million – was a flip. According to the LA Times, he listed the home in May 2023 and again a year later for $88 million. No word yet on whether the house has sold.

A Lucrative Two-Decade Showbiz Career

Buying and selling luxury homes will only ever be a side hustle for the multiplatinum rapper who makes $1 million for every concert performance. Celebrity Net Worth states that the artist has sold over 163 million digital singles – more than any other artist. He has sold 26 million albums and earned over $500 million in gross revenue throughout his career.

Kendrick Lamar Feud And Legal Allegations

Wealth aside, 2024 did not end well for Drake, who began legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify, alleging they conspired to falsely pump up the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” The song was a Drake diss track, escalating a bitter feud between the two rappers.

The Independent reported that a “petition in a New York court … by the rapper’s company Frozen Moments LLC demands the preservation and divulgence of information that might be evidence in a potential lawsuit against the streaming giant Spotify and UMG, which is the distributor for the record labels of both Drake and Lamar.”

In response, UMG called the allegations “offensive and untrue.” Perhaps a 300-acre-plus Texan estate is just the tonic Drake needs to allow him to refocus on his music and career.
