The home where President Donald Trump lived when he was a baby has sold, after an interesting history over the past few years. The Queens property, located in the affluent neighborhood of Jamaica Estates, took a major price cut to secure a buyer, according to the Zillow listing. The first photo of the listing features a cardboard cutout of the billionaire 45th and 47th president of the U.S.
The Tudor-style home was built in 1940 by Trump's father, Fred C. Trump, according to the New York Post. Trump was born in 1946, and it's reported that he lived in the Queens home from 1946 to 1950. The single-family home has a brick-and-stucco exterior, five bedrooms, four bathrooms and 2,500 square feet of living space.

Public records show that the home was sold in 2008 for $782,500. Then, it was used as a business opportunity. Just before he was inaugurated as president in 2017, it was scooped up by an investor for $1.35 million.
According to The New York Times, three weeks later, the home was flipped and purchased for $2.14 million by an anonymous buyer from China with a limited liability corporation called Trump Birth House. For a short time, the property was listed on Airbnb for $815 a night. The primary bedroom had a plaque on the wall that detailed it was where "President Donald J. Trump was likely conceived."
The anonymous buyer tried to sell the home in 2019 for $2.9 million, but it failed to find a new owner. Two years later, Paramount Realty USA, representing Trump Birth House LLC, launched a GoFundMe to crowdsource the funds to buy the home so it could be gifted to Trump. The effort was unsuccessful. It wasn't until March 3 that it was officially taken off the market after selling for $835,000 — a substantial cut from the 2019 listed price.

During those limbo years, the home was vacant and not cared for. It became overrun by feral cats, according to The Post. A water pipe burst in the basement led to the space being full of mold. "A beautiful house was left abandoned, and no one took care of it for all this time," a neighbor told The Post. "No one occupied it, no one used it and it was left as an eyesore and we, the community, had to take care of it."
Will the new owners use it as a regular home? Or will it pop up on Airbnb again? Time will tell.
