The Next E-Book Evolution: Soundtracks for Novels

This startup is attempting to bring a new dimension of audio to the books you read – at the pace you read them! Have you ever thought that books should have a soundtrack? No? That's because books were traditionally printed on paper, and paper doesn't have the ability to emit audio (not yet at least). But with the digital age, people are now reading their books with e-readers, laptops and tablets – all of which have the ability to produce high-quality sounds. With that in mind, Booktrack was born. Not to be confused with Booktracks.net (which describes itself as a “textbook management solution”), Booktrack is a startup with barely a Wikipedia page and only a couple offerings on Apple's App Store AAPL. Like so many new technologies, the company had to start small, but could one day be huge: according to Business Insider, Booktrack successfully adjusted its audio to match the pace of the reader. If that's true – and if the technology doesn't involve using the iPad's camera to spy on us monitor our eye movements, this could very well be the next big thing in reading entertainment.
