Kevin O'Leary Declares 'I Am Not Ashamed Of Capitalism.' Agrees There's Anti-Elitism And Applauds Musk On Winning Compensation Case

Kevin O’Leary, the sharp-tongued investor from Shark Tank, recently sat down with Chris Cuomo, former ABC and CNN anchor, to share his thoughts on various topics, including capitalism, politics, and the public’s growing dislike for the elite.

O’Leary said, “I’m not ashamed of capitalism.” He continued talking about his hard work and dedication, stressing, “Every dollar I have, I made myself. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’ve worked like hell my whole life, and I still do. I’m not ashamed of my results.”

He noticed that more and more people seem to dislike the wealthy and successful. He thinks both political parties unfairly target successful people because they stand out. According to him, punishing success and entrepreneurship is not what America is about and is harmful in the long run.

O’Leary also praised Elon Musk for winning his compensation case. He sees this as a win for entrepreneurs willing to take huge risks and make bold steps. Here’s what he had to say about Musk, the CEO of Tesla: “The amount of jobs he’s creating, you may like him, you may hate him [but] there are very few people that take the risks that he takes that are willing to take those risks, and as a result, he deserves the rewards. I’m glad he won his case on his compensation.”

O’Leary stressed that he cares more about policies than politics. He spends a lot of time in Washington, D.C., working to support policies that help small businesses because he believes they are the backbone of the American economy.

“I’ve made money on policy, and so I’ve spent in the last three years an inordinate amount of time on the hill. I’m very fortunate the Shark Tank passport, as I call it, gets me into any office red or blue or independent. I want every politician to associate themselves with American entrepreneurship,” he said.

O’Leary watches the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election and contemplates the impact it will have on energy policies. If the next president puts the right policies in place, he sees big investment opportunities. As he sees it, electricity has been diminished dramatically in the last four years, and “the investment opportunity is in the trillions.”

Love or hate him, to O’Leary, hard work pays off, and we should all celebrate that success, not punish it. With the right policies in place, everyone has a chance to achieve their goals.
