Amazon To Offer Remote Access Music Service (AMZN)

Amazon AMZN is introducing Cloud Service, an online music service that will allow customers to remotely store their music files and allow access through their smartphones and computers, according to Reuters. The move is aimed at drawing music buyers from rivals such as Apple's AAPL iTunes. The Cloud Service will allow customers to tap Amazon's web servers instead of local hard drives. Amazon said customers would initially get 5 gigabytes of free storage, with a $1 per gigabyte fee for further storage. According to Reuters, Amazon is also offering "Cloud Player." This service will allow music fans using Google's GOOG Android operating system to listen to, download and make playlists on any web browser or application.
