Verizon Announces New Motorola DROID X2 - Verizon's First Dual-Core Smartphone

Verizon Wireless VZ and Motorola Mobility, Inc. MMI announced Wednesday the second-generation DROID X2 by Motorola, Verizon's first dual-core smartphone. Powered by Google's GOOG Android 2.2, soon to be updated to Android 2.3, the phone boasts a Mirror Mode, which allows viewing and sharing of photos, videos and downloaded movies on a larger TV via HDMI output. Further, it carries a Mobile Hotspot capability, allowing users to share a 3G connection with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The phone will surely be a direct competitor to Apple's AAPL iPhone, with its lowest priced iPhone offering at the same price mark. The DROID X2 will be available online at www.verizonwireless.com on May 19 and in Verizon Wireless Communication Stores on May 26 for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement. The phone carries an 8-megapixel camera continuous autofocus and "stunning" HD video capture. Users will have access to 200,000 apps available to download from Android Market.
