Stellantis STLA, the parent company of 14 brands like Fiat, Chrysler, Peugeot, Dodge, and Jeep, organized a live digital event and presented its electrification strategy, announcing the aggressive plan for its brands to produce both new electric models as well as electric versions of their iconic models. By this strategy, the world's fourth automaker will spend $35.5 billion by 2025. And this is similar to other major automakers. General Motors GM plans to invest $35 billion in the same period, while Volkswagen VWAGY will spend $86 billion in the next five years. Ford F will invest $30 billion by 2030.

News From Jeep

Stellantis currently counts 29 hybrid vehicles and fully electric cars. This number will jump to 39 in a short time. So, by 2025, this automaker will have 40 all-electric and 15 hybrid models. Dodge will give us an electric muscle car, Ram announced an electric pickup, while Jeep's all-electric SUV will be launched by 2025. Among other news, Stellantis used its EV event to show a video of Jeep's icon, Wrangler, being able to perform biometric recognition by 2025, and finally being capable of driving autonomously off-road by 2030. Imagine that… first, the car will recognize your face while you are approaching, unlock and start the engine for you.

After that, you will be able to watch the stars through a panoramic roof, while you are driving. Jeep took this even further, with the pair of drones flying in front of you, providing better lighting and ensuring a safer off-road experience. Maybe these years are not carved in stone, but the rest sounds possible and not too far away.

Jeep Brand

Jeep is a brand with 80 years of heritage, famous for its authentic SUVs and preferred by experienced travelers. Even Jeep's history is legendary, as its Willys MB was one of the first mass-produced vehicles for the U.S. military and tough, fast, and nimble participants of any World War II battlefield. The current Jeep's roster includes Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, Renegade, Wrangler, Compass, and Gladiator.

Company's Details

Stellantis may be a newer name in the automaking world, but this global giant was formed in 2021 through a merger of well know Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and French PSA Group. Besides the new models' announcements, the electrification strategy includes 5 factories for the production of batteries which should ensure that the company has sufficient power juice for the upcoming models. Two factories, in France and Germany, are already announced, as well as the third in Italy. This way 130 gigawatt-hours will be secured by 2025 and 260 gigawatt-hours by 2030.
