Apple Inc. AAPL reportedly plans to release the iOS 18.4 update in April, following the public rollout of iOS 18.3 this week.

What Happened: While the beta testing for iOS 18.4 has yet to begin, early details reveal several updates including a smarter Siri, expanded language support for Apple Intelligence, and upgraded functionality for apps like Home.

Here's everything we know so far:

Smarter Siri With Upgraded Context Awareness

One of the most anticipated features in iOS 18.4 is an upgrade to Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence. This enhancement will enable Siri to respond with greater context awareness, offering more personalized and precise interactions. The update also brings deeper app-level controls, making Siri more versatile in handling specific tasks.

Apple Intelligence Adds More Languages

Apple Intelligence is set to expand its language offerings in iOS 18.4. Previously limited to English in select regions, the feature will now support languages such as Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Korean. Additional versions of English, including those localized for India and Singapore, will also be available.

Fixes And Improvements For News Summaries

iOS 18.4 addresses issues with Apple Intelligence's notification summaries, which were temporarily disabled in iOS 18.3 after inaccurately summarizing some news stories. The upcoming update promises to improve the accuracy of these summaries, while maintaining the visually distinct italicized format introduced in the previous version.

Fresh Emoji Designs

Apple is also expected to add new emoji in iOS 18.4. These include playful and practical options like a face with bags under its eyes, a root vegetable, a harp, and more.

Robot Vacuum Support In The Home App

With iOS 18.4, users can control their vacuums' key functions, including power, cleaning mode, and charge status, directly through the Home app. Siri will also support commands like initiating spot cleaning or adding vacuums to automation routines.

Default Apps For Navigation And Translation In The EU

In compliance with the EU's Digital Markets Act, Apple will allow iPhone users in Europe to set third-party apps as defaults for navigation and translation. This means users can choose Google Maps instead of Apple Maps, and Google Translate or Microsoft Translator instead of Apple's Translate app.
