Apple's Latest MacBook Air With M4 Chip Is Twice As Fast As Its Predecessor With Lower Price

Apple Inc. AAPL launched its newest MacBook Air.

The latest iteration is now equipped with the advanced M4 chip for improved speed, longer battery life, and a 12MP camera.

The updated MacBook Air is also equipped with a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. This version is up to twice as fast as the previous M1 model.

Additionally, the boosted battery life offers up to 18 hours of usage, and provides six more hours compared to the older Intel-based models.

Apple asserts that the M4 chip's enhanced features offer more efficient multitasking, quicker photo and video editing, and overall improved performance.

Video editing in iMovie is up to eight times swifter compared to Intel-powered models. The MacBook Air is also built to support up to two 6K displays.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak calls it “the world’s most popular laptop.”

“Combined with its thin and light, fanless design, all-day battery life, and the incredible capabilities of macOS Sequoia with Apple Intelligence, MacBook Air is unlike any other laptop. And with a new lower starting price of $999, MacBook Air delivers more value to consumers than ever before, making this the perfect moment to upgrade or experience the Mac for the first time,” he said in a prepared statement.

In addition to the hardware updates, the MacBook Air comes with Apple Intelligence features that boost AI capabilities. The integration of ChatGPT helps users complete tasks efficiently while maintaining privacy through on-device processing.

The 12MP Center Stage camera further enhances video calls by keeping users centered in the frame as they move. It also includes a Desk View option to improve presentations.

The MacBook Air is made with 55% recycled materials, including recycled cobalt and aluminum.

The product comes in four color options, including a new sky blue shade. Priced from $999, it is available for pre-order, with shipments starting on March 12.

The tech behemoth also revealed new M3 Ultra chip, offering up to 2.6 times the performance of the M1 Ultra.

It includes Thunderbolt 5 for faster connectivity, over half a terabyte of unified memory, and features Apple’s UltraFusion architecture, linking two M3 Max dies for enhanced performance.

With 184 billion transistors, the M3 Ultra powers the new Mac Studio.

The new Mac Studio, boosts AI tasks, handling large language models with over 600 billion parameters and up to 512GB of unified memory.

Built for Apple Intelligence, it enhances user experience while prioritizing privacy. Pre-orders for the Mac Studio start today, with availability set for March 12.
