Is Cannabis Odor A Health Threat To North Carolina Courthouses? New Order Says Yes
A judge in Robeson County, North Carolina, has signed an order stipulating that people who smell like cannabis will be denied entry to the county's superior courts. The order from Senior Resident Superior Court Judge James Gregory Bell states that anyone with "the odor of marijuana, THC, CBD, hashish and hemp and like substances" will be asked to leave and return without the smell. The order argues that the safety and health of those entering the courthouse cannot be threatened or impaired. However, the order does not explain how someone smelling like cannabis could pose a threat or harm to others. The move comes as other states have attempted to ban police from searching people or vehicles based solely on the odor of cannabis.
