Former GOP Senator Wants To Stop Cannabis Ballot In Nebraska: Lawsuit Targets Secretary Of State Over Medical Marijuana Petitions
A former Republican member of the Nebraska State Senate initiated a lawsuit on Thursday aimed at preventing the Secretary of State Bob Evnen from certifying two petitions, backed by Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana, that seek to legalize medical cannabis in the upcoming November election. John Kuehn of Heartwell cited seven reasons the measures should not be placed on the November 2024 ballot.Kuehn filed the lawsuit that names Evnen alongside the campaign manager Crista Eggers, state Senator Anna Wishart of Lincoln and former state Senator Adam Morfeld of Lincoln in Lancaster County District Court. The case was assigned to Judge Susan Strong.
