President Donald Trump's plans to place tariffs on imported goods from several countries, including China, could cause retaliation from other nations.

China has been Trump’s favorite target, and the tariffs and threats of additional tariffs could hurt relations with the country.
Higher prices to import items from China could also hurt consumers if costs are passed from companies down the line.
Benzinga recently polled readers on which company could be most vulnerable to Trump’s China tariffs.
"Which stock is most at risk from Trump's China tariffs?" Benzinga asked.
The results were:
- Apple Inc AAPL, supply chain reliance on China: 35%
- NVIDIA Corporation NVDA, chip exports facing restrictions: 28%
- Tesla Inc TSLA, China factory and exports: 28%
- Boeing Inc BA, aircraft sales to China: 9%
Apple was the top choice in the poll, and the company was viewed as the most likely to be at risk from tariffs on China.
Tesla and Nvidia tied for second place, which comes as both companies face pressure in the country.
Why It's Important: Benzinga recently polled readers to see if they think the tariffs on China will be good or bad for the American economy.
“Will Trump’s tariffs on China help or hurt the U.S. economy?” Benzinga asked.
The results were:
- Hurt businesses and consumers: 54%
- Help the economy: 36%
- No real impact: 10%
Most respondents said that tariffs on China will hurt businesses and consumers in America.
While Trump has called the tariff moves a way to fight trade imbalances, other countries have threatened America with retaliatory measures, such as tariffs or other measures. The Wall Street Journal said China was looking to target American companies with antitrust concerns. The list of companies China could target includes Nvidia, Apple, Broadcom, and Alphabet.
