By 1:06 pm, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 67.81 points, or 0.66%, to 10,408.50, while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index had gained 9.72 points, or 0.89%. The NASDAQ composite index rose 24.77 points, or 1.12%.
Some of the narrow based indexes that are driving the market are Stem Cell Stocks, which have gained 4.3%, Home Furnishing Retailer Stocks, up 3.8%, and Coffee Stocks, moving 3.6% higher as a group.
In Tickerspy's Stem Cell complex, Neostem Inc NBS had surged 6.1%. NBS has named Ian Zhang as its new president and MD of NeoStem (China) Inc.
The best performing Tickerspy Home Furnishing Retailer stock has been Pier 1 Imports Inc PIR, which was up 4.3%. PIR had reported an 8% y/y rise in its Q2 sales.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc GMCR is today’s leading Tickerspy's Coffee stock, gaining 8.7%. GMCR has reported a 10%-15% surge in its price of K-Cup portion packs.
