US Stock Futures Signal Higher Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are higher, this morning as Ireland formally applied for financial aid from the European Union (EU) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) for resolving its banking and budget crisis. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 28 points to 11,207, while S&P 500 futures rose 3.6 points to 1,201.80. Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 9.75 points to 2,143.20. US stock markets closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average gaining 0.20% to 11,203.55, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rising 0.25% to 1,199.73 and the Nasdaq Composite Index moving up 0.15% to 2,518.12. No major US economic data are due for release today. Hewlett-Packard Company HPQ may report its Q4 earnings at $1.27 per share on revenue of $32.75 billion. Tyson Foods Inc TSN is estimated to report its Q4 EPS at $0.57 on revenue of $7.75 billion. Analog Devices Inc ADI is projected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.70 on revenue of $755.81 million. Jack in the Box Inc JACK is forecast to post its Q4 earnings at $0.34 per share on revenue of $543.25 million. European markets rose, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index rising 0.10% and the London's FTSE 100 Index moving up 0.12%. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average adding 0.93%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.30% and China's Shanghai Composite losing 0.15%.
