In the midst of earnings season, the three major indices showed some strength this week. The Dow was up 1.96%, the S&P 500 rose by 2.56% and the Nasdaq gained 3.33% for the week. This marked the Dow and S&P's biggest weekly percentage gains in four weeks.

Investors remain on guard ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting next week. The central bank is expected to raise interest rates by 75 basis points, as the Fed proceeds to tighten fiscal policy to combat skyrocketing inflation.
