Amazon, Oracle, Transocean And A Major Telecom Company: CNBC's 'Final Trades'

On CNBC’s "Halftime Report Final Trades," Amy Raskin of Chevy Chase Trust said Verizon Communications Inc. VZ trades at seven times earnings and has an 8% dividend yield.

The New York-based telecom increased its quarterly dividend from 65 cents to 66 cents per share.

Stephen Weiss of Short Hills Capital Partners said the sell-off in Oracle Corporation ORCL stock was overstated and the quarter wasn’t that bad.

Microsoft and Oracle expanded their partnership to deliver Oracle database services on Oracle cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure. DZ Bank upgraded Oracle from Hold to Buy and announced a $125 price target.

Jim Lebenthal of Cerity Partners picked Transocean Ltd. RIG.

Transocean secured a $486 million contract for Deepwater Aquila with a national oil company for work offshore Brazil.

Jason Snipe of Odyssey Capital Advisors said operating profit of Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN was really strong this past quarter.

Amazon now sees the logistical gap created when Shopify Inc SHOP discontinued its shipping services, allowing the online retail giant to profit from products ordered from non-Amazon.com sites.

Price Action: Amazon shares fell 0.1% to close at $144.72, while Transocean shares rose 4.7% to settle at $8.66 on Thursday. Oracle stock rose 1.6% to settle at $113.66, while Verizon shares rose 0.5% to close at $34.04 on Thursday.
