Hesai Group HSAI shares are trading lower on Friday in the premarket session.
The company made a breakthrough integration of its long-range lidar sensors into the next-generation Cadillac all-electric SUV, the VISTIQ.
In a bold move unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the luxury automaker SAIC-GM selected Hesai's AT series lidar for the new VISTIQ. What sets this apart is the lidar's placement inside the cabin, behind the windshield—marking a global first in the passenger vehicle space.
The lidar's positioning not only maintains the design of the SUV, but also shields critical components from environmental damage and minor accidents.
Unlike conventional setups mounted on rooftops or bumpers, this internal approach boosts both durability and aesthetics while maintaining high-performance sensing capabilities—even in adverse weather conditions like snow, rain, or dust.
The VISTIQ SUV is part of Cadillac's broader push into the electric mobility space and will feature a robust L2 driver-assist system.
This collaboration strengthens Hesai's position as a preferred lidar supplier in the smart mobility ecosystem.
According to David Li, Co-Founder and CEO of Hesai, "The in-cabin deployment of our AT series sensor represents a significant leap forward in both automotive design and autonomous sensing capability."
Hesai intends to continue delivering scalable, high-performance lidar systems to support the next wave of intelligent electric vehicles.
According to Benzinga Pro, HSAI stock has gained over 254% in the past year. Investors can gain exposure to the stock via SPDR S&P Kensho Smart Mobility ETF HAIL.
Price Action: HSAI shares are trading lower by 0.3% to $14.98 at last check Friday.
