Hardware Earnings- Data Center Group revenue at Intel (INTC) rose 32% in the last quarter, wheeras revenue from sales of IBM's (IBM) System z mainframe server products rose 41% last quarter. IBM (IBM) has reported a 10 per cent rise in net income to $ 2.86 billion in the January—March quarter of 2011 on account of robust growth in hardware and software business. Intel Corp. (INTC) reported record quarterly results and provided better-than-expected second-quarter guidance, benefiting from strong growth in all of its product segments and bucking worries about weakening personal computer sales.

Apple (AAPL) will begin to ship the new version of its iPhone in September- Reuters reported Apple's next-generation iPhone will have a faster processor and will begin shipping in September, production of the new iPhone will start in July/August and the smartphone will look largely similar to the iPhone 4.

VMware Inc. (VMW) posted a 60% jump in first quarter-profits, beating expectations even as it tempered its guidance for the rest of the year because of a potential freeze on federal government IT spending. Chief Executive Paul Maritz told analysts on an earnings call that uncertainty “which can include cutbacks in government spending” is making the company more cautious about guidance for the year.
