On This Day – 5 Stocks For Babe Ruth

On May 6, 1915, Babe Ruth hit his first major league home run while playing for the Boston Red Sox. The career that followed would go down in history and make Babe Ruth arguably the most recognized name in baseball history. Here we present 5 stocks that would be a hit (see what we did there) with the main man. Boston Properties BXP After starting his career with the Boston Red Sox and ending it with the Boston Braves, there can be little doubt that Boston was a city close to the Babe's heart. Whether he needed to be involved with this real estate investment trust is less clear, but he would have loved the name. New York Community Bancorp NYB Similarly, Babe Ruth spent the best years of his career as a Yankee, and so he almost certainly would have held the Big Apple close to his heart until his death in 1948 at 53 years of age. We don't know how much money he earned in his lifetime, but he would have needed somewhere to put it. Ruth's Hospitality Group RUTH The Babe reportedly liked his food (as well as his women and other vices), so he might like the fact that there is a restaurant company bearing his name (even if it isn't actually named after him). Steakhouses and fish places seem to be the order of the day, though no one claims to serve Baby Ruth candy. Dick's Sporting Goods DKS Every young boy dreams of being the next Babe Ruth (unless he's not from the USA, in which case a soccer star like Pele is more appropriate). Either way, somewhere like Dick's is perfect to pick up that first bat, catcher's mitt, helmet and so on. Red Hat RHT After wearing Red Sox, maybe the Babe would also want to wear a Red Hat. Yes, we know, that is tenuous, especially when trying to imagine Babe Ruth caring about software solutions in the slightest.
