Cash in on George Clooney's 50th Birthday

George Clooney turns 50 on Friday, reminding men everywhere that it is possible to be desired by women across the globe, as long as you are amazingly talented, incredibly sexy, and wealthier than most royal families. With that in mind, Benzinga looks at five talented, wealthy, and — dare we say — sexy stocks, through the lens of George Clooney's career. ER If you found yourself in serious trouble in the mid-90s, the odds are good that you'd have wanted Dr Ross to patch you up. (For younger readers, Clooney played a doctor somewhat like Dr House, except he wasn't a drug addict, mean, sassy, or a serial sexual harasser. Actually, he was nothing like House. Never mind.) If your portfolio finds itself in need of a little bedside manner, perhaps the giant stock you want to consider is Johnson & Johnson JNJ. JNJ is a huge in the drug market, with a total market cap of $177.8 billion, and the company has strengthened itself for future growth with some savvy purchases this year. From Dusk Till Dawn Believe it or not, there were vampire movies before the Twilight series. One even implausibly starred George Clooney. Fans of Clooney will recall the interesting acting and plot choices, and revel in what was not one of Quentin Tarantino's finer moments. Critics might make the same points, except with a thumbs-down vote. One could probably say the same about Microsoft's MSFT stock. Some people seem to love it and others wouldn't touch it with a ten foot hole. Well, beauty may be in the eye of the beholder; profits are forever. Microsoft earns $2.52 a share and pays out a dividend. Set aside your squeamishness over its vampiric tendencies and consider cashing in on the controversial giant. Batman and Robin Apple AAPL Is there a technology stock more appropriate for Batman? Between the crazy gadgets and the ability to spy on your enemies via their iPhone, nothing screams POW! quite like Apple. With a market cap of $320.7 billion, the stock, like Clooney, is clearly one of the big dogs. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Maybe one of the most underrated movies of all-time, Brother showcases Clooney and his two sidekicks in a strange, musical remake of the story of The Odyssey. Brother has an oracle; the Odyssey has an oracle; and voila, the NASDAQ has an Oracle, too! Oracle ORCL has a large market cap of $179.24 billion and just seems to bring the same news every quarter: money, money, and more money. The Perfect Storm Normally, equating any investment opportunity with a sinking ship and a bunch of dead people would be a non-starter. However, this is Benzinga, and we can make just about anything happen! Maybe the good place to start is with Philip Morris PM. Cigarettes seem like a bad place to invest, since less people are smoking, and many smokers are switching over to e-cigarettes. However, PM just trudges on. Year to date, PM is up 18%, showing the kind of growth that cigarettes allegedly stunt.
